Amici @ Langham Mong Kok~

Went to have dinner at Amici with my sister.  It’s a restaurant on the 13th floor of Langham in Mong Kok.  From the entrance of the restaurant, you’d think it’s a small small shop that has most of its table outside.  However, it’s actually a maze inside with many other tables.  I went there at 7pm, when it’s supposed to be the busiest time for dinner.  I thought I would have to line up for a table since they said they were fully booked when I tried to call earlier for a table.  Anyways, I got a table immediately when I got there…and I think I know why.   THE FOOD IS CRAP!

But it does have its good side.  The restaurant is quite comfortable and spacious, compared to other restaurants in Mong Kok.  But I guess it’s also because it’s on the 13th floor of Langham where anyone would actually go…The environment looks nice…or nice enough.

We ordered a poutine, a beef on wild mushroom risotto and a pork and mushroom ravioli.

Poutine:

It has got to be the saddest poutine I have ever seen.  Not much cheese and not a lot of gravy….looks just like some home made stuff…and the taste is just like the appearance…nothing special.  At least it’s edible~

Risotto:

Again, I was quite disappointed due it the lack of cream and cheese.  The beef tasted like any other beef/steak you would get in some Chinese tea restaurants (eg. Fa Yuen restaurant).  It’s also very tough~  The rice part is OK.  Not bad, but also not good.  Acceptable. 

Ravioli:

I’d have to call it the Dog Food Fusion Ravioli, and my sister calls it the Dog Food Fu-Shanghai.  The whole thing didn’t look appetizing.  As for the taste….I think the name we gave it says it all.  The bit of “pork” in the ravioli has this really strong taste/smell…something like what you would get from canned dog food.  It’s really tough as well….gave us the feeling that it has be lying in the freezer for at least a decade or so.  The dice size pork is wrapped  with something like a wonton skin.  Then the whole thing is in a cream sauce.  The ravioli itself tastes and feels like what you normally get for wonton in spicy oil (紅油抄手）at a Shanghai/Taiwanese restaurant.  When you put wonton with cream sauce together…they just don’t match.  My sister wanted to puke after 1 bite.  I tried not to waste and stuff 4 or 5 ravioli in my mouth before I felt sick.  Couldn’t stand it, and complained to the waitress.  She told us that’s what ravioli is supposed to look like.  I guess I can’t say for all the ravioli in the world….but from all the ravioli’s in all the different restaurants/cities/store bought, I have NEVER seen/tasted anything like it.  We got really upset when she told us we dunno what is “ravioli”….we told her we want to cancel the order.  My sister refused to pay $100+ for something that is a million times worse than Chef Boyardee.  The manager came and we complained and he also said it’s supposed to taste like that and perhaps it’s our problem that we don’t like it.  Got upset…but didn’t make a scene.  Just told him it’s really gross.  He said to cancel it too.  He then quickly walked away and never came back with our bill.  So, we asked the waitress to get us our bill which still has the dog food ravioli on it.  Told her to change it, gave her our credit card.  She came back with the bill but forgot the receipt where we actually need to sign, since we were paying with credit card.  My sister got quite pissed at the whole experience at the restaurant.

I will never go there again…I guess we are never welcomed there anyways hahaha…

法國飯店 Le Bristol

Went there for dinner one night.  Wanted to write a review on www.openrice.com.  However, they won't approve the review.  I think it's probably coz the restaurant paid to have their profile there.  So, they won't allow any negative reviews posted.  And if it has to be negative, it can't be too extreme.  Anyways, my experience with this restaurant was exceptionally horrible!

  We chose this place for the beautiful environmen it provided. It was comfortable compared to other non-asian food restaurants in the area. We ordered a dinner set for two, it was about $500. The appetizer was foie gras. It was the roughest one I ever tried. Then there is the smoked salmon caesar salad. The veggie itself was totally dead...dead for a long time. It was a bit soggy and soft. In the middle of the salad, there was one piece of smoked salmon, the size of my thumb which I didn't eat coz it was so pale orange...not appetizing. Then came the soup. It was clam chowder! At this point, I really need to swear! It was ridiculously stinky! The clam they used totally stunk up the soup. I wanted to puke the moment I put that it in my mouth. After that was the main course. The linguine with mushroom. It was acceptable. Not good, but acceptable. The most ridiculous part of the dinner was the rib eye steak. I ordered medium rare, but when it came, it was raw! The surface was barely light brown. I felt like they went to the wet market, got a piece of raw meat, then directly served it at my table, skipping the cooking part! I didn't expect a high quality in food as it was only $250/head, but at least some effort in making the food "cooked"? The parsley which was resting on the top of the piece of raw meat wasn't even washed!!!! There's soil on it!!! I think Cafe de Coral has better quality control than here! I will NEVER come again! If you come, you are warned!

Am I Crazy?

I think I m slowly loosing myself. I tend to get upset really easily. I can't control my temper. I make rash decisions. I do things that I wouldn't have done if it's the normal me, though it wasn't something like killing a random person on the street. But I'd cry and feel really depress and would be angry, yet I could find an object to be angry at. That's what made me so angry because I was so angry at nothing. I am not really making any sense. Maybe I should get some help.....

Was excited about stamping my nails yesterday!

I especially rushed to get a new image plate during the lunch hour just so that I can have something new to stamp on my nails last night.

I didn't like the leopard print I did a couple days before.  So, I thought I'd get a new image plate to replace the leopard print.

The result was horrible.  The images look nice on online pics...but when I did on my hand, they looks dull and way too 2D....

I got really pissed and just washed it off and just did a simple pattern of dotting my nails.

Linkin Park was in Hong Kong for concert! My friends were all excited about them.  I am not their fan, but went anyways, since my friend kept on insisting that I will love them.

It was a tiring experience.  Had to stand through the entire concert, though we all had a seat…Just that no one wanted to sit.  However, I cheated.  I was too tired half way and sat down.

Guys and girls were screaming at the top of their lungs.  I thought my ear drums were going to crack.  Girls in their working clothes (suits) were jumping up and down while flinging their arms all over the place as if they were high on drugs.

The stage was far far away from me,  I couldn’t really see anything.  The people on stage were about the size of a grain of rice.  They had big screens TV though…that showed random background images about 99% of them time.  So, I couldn’t really see anything on stage.

As for the music, I dunno how to appreciate it cause I had no idea what they were singing.  It was just loud.

I am sure it would be the most exciting experience, IF I were a fan of Linkin Park.  Sadly, I am not.

My friend had a wonderful time tho.  She could barely talk after the concert, due to the excessive screaming.

Just wanted to share with you girls how I whiten my nails when it gets yellow cause of applying nail polish too often. This picture was taken sometime in last June though, which explains why were my nails so long in that picture. Makes me wonder how did I manage such long nails last time -__-

I’ve tried using lemon to whiten my nails before, but the result weren’t as good as I hoped for. Or maybe I just got impatient LOL. But then I realised that using a whitening tooth paste helps to take away the yellow stain a lot! Just layer a small amount of whitening tooth paste on each of your nail and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Wash it off, and then buff your nails. And as you can see from the picture above, it really makes a difference! 

Hope this will help you if you’re wondering how to make that yellow stain on your nails less visible :)
