Serenity,
We are having our favorite food at our best-loved spot while watching people going about their lives —, some are walking while using their mobile phones, some are eating street foods as if they are rewarding themselves from a tiring day, some are in a hurry it seems like time is running out, some appear to be exhausted from work, some are students still in their uniforms frolicking on the road, and some children playing around. I smiled as I watched a boy playing happily from where we were sitting. Ang lamig. November na pala. In just one month, this place will be filled with various shops and holiday-themed decorations, a sign that Christmas is coming. I looked back at the boy tirelessly running while being chased by his guard. Maybe his mother. I chuckled as I reminisced on my youth. Katulad ng batang iyon, content with the world he made and unaware of those around. I used to think that life was as simple as that. I smiled bitterly. That kid will someday become identical to me. Hindi mahanap ang sarili. Hopefully not.
I was already drowning in the countless thoughts that were confusing my head until I heard the voice of a man sitting next to me—a man who motivates me to carry on living, who never fails to make me smile, who is at ease enough with me to share his sorrows, strange ideas, dreams, and experiences.
"Totoo namang binago mo ang buhay ko, literally and figuratively" he said. I smiled and came back to reality. I will never get tired of giving thanks to the universe because he's mine, my serenity.
