I love the powerful woman who’s complicated. There’s no push to be one thing or another thing. It’s all human. That’s what you look for as an actor: characters written and portrayed in the most human way possible.

Text to Angie
Wade: are you avoiding me?
Wade: you look gorgeous, by the way
Angela: I have, like, 900 guests to greet, Wade. Not everything is about you.
Angela: You're here?
paige.
“Well it’s a rule tonight and we’ll make sure it’s ensured. You know I enjoy seeing you tell people what to do,” they replied with a soft laugh before nodding. “I did, I did admit to that. Mm, I’ve had a few but I feel like I’ve made this confession before about how much I love your ass. I think that’s only a given, really.” Paige could feel themselves blushing when Angela took a hold of their chin and happily leaned into the kiss on their forehead. “You should, it’s pretty kickass. I hope to see you wearing it like…tomorrow, I don’t care if it’s summer. Also those shoes, you are going to kill in them.” They smiled as they leaned on the bar and looked at Angela, the shots of tequila they had drank earlier doing well at making them relax. “You know, just in case I lose you to the masses, I wanted to give you one more gift,” they said as their voice dropped a little lower and they let out a soft giggle. It took them a moment before they leaned over the bar and cupped one of Angie’s cheeks, before kissing her, brushing their thumb across Angela’s cheek, deepening the kiss for a moment before pulling away while biting their lip. “Mhm, I think that about rounds it out for all of your gifts.”
“Yeah, unless the person I’m bossing around is you. Then I end up getting the silent treatment for half an hour until you want to whine about Charlie from marketing stealing your lunch out of the fridge,” Angela gave Paige a pointed look, her mouth curling up into a satisfied smirk. “Fair. It is a great ass, right? Like, I worked hard for this ass. It’s nice to be appreciated.” Playing absently with a few of their flyaway curls, Angela only half-heard Paige’s instructions about her new birthday gifts, humming quietly under her breath at what she assumed were the right moments. It wasn’t until they leaned over the bar and kissed her that she realized what was happening, straightening up enough to return the kiss. All too soon, Paige was pulling away and Angela blinked at them, open-mouthed and warm. “Oh, you’re not getting away that easily,” she muttered, reaching back across the counter to kiss Paige again, easily sliding a hand into their hair to pull them closer to her.
elizabeth.
“I can only imagine. Is it a chocolate cake or fruit?” The blonde asked with a chuckle. She could tell how happy Angela was – the party was a success after all. “God.. Party planning sounds exhausting, not that I’ve ever planned one but I get what you mean. I am not surprised, there’s nothing Paige can’t handle. I always say this, you two can rule the world together.”
“Neither, Elizabeth. It’s an angel cake, of course,” the host snickered. “Okay, terrible joke aside, it’s double fudge. I can’t do much more than stand very near it and sniff if I don’t want to burst out of my outfit, but I hope everyone else enjoys it.” Angela preened slightly under Elizabeth’s gaze. “They’re amazing, right? Honestly, if it hadn’t been for them, I would’ve lost my mind trying to make this thing come together. World ruling doesn’t seem that much more difficult.”
mason.
Mason was more than thrilled to be at Angela’s party, dedicating the majority of her day getting ready for the evening and everything. She even got her an actual present instead of a last minute bullshit gift card, so tonight was pretty special. She’d already found her way to the bar a couple times, and when Angela came over to her, Mason was sipping from her second margarita on the rocks. “Of course I am. You look gorgeous, by the way.” Mase murmured, a little smirk tugging at her lips. Okay, so she was always a little shameless when it came to flirting with Angela, but she couldn’t help it. The girl was an actual dime, and she didn’t see a problem with always letting her know. “Thanks again for the invite.”
“Thank you, darling, as do you,” Angela replied to the woman’s compliment, reaching over to smooth her curls away from her guest’s face. “Oh, it was no trouble. I’m just glad you could make time for little old me, what with your performance schedule.” Her gaze flickering down to the margarita, Angela smiled demurely and fit her fingers over Mason’s on the glass. “Sorry, do you mind?” she remarked smoothly as she lifted the drink to her lips, taking a few sips.
declan.
He looked down at himself and laughed. “Well if you approve then I don’t really need anything else. Thought it’d be best to clean myself up a bit. That and my sister helped me pick it out,” he added with a smile. “But I’m glad you’re having fun,” he said and held up his drink. “Here’s to you,” he said with a nod before his eyes fell to her neck. “I’m glad you liked your gift. It was a bit tough to decide on what to get you but I saw this and…I knew I had to get it.”
“Aw, that’s- that’s sweet,” Angela intoned, eyelashes fluttering as her mind went unbidden to the earlier text messages she’d received from her own brother. Even estranged as they were, it would’ve been nice to- she breathed slowly through her nose. No, dark paths were to be thoroughly avoided tonight. “I don’t think I’ve ever actually met her, you should introduce us.” She dropped into a semi-curtsy as Declan toasted to her, teasing her fingers over the Tiffany pendant hanging around her neck when she straightened. “It’s lovely, D, really. Sure your sister didn’t help you cheat with this one too?” she remarked teasingly.
benjamin.
The tone in which Angela was greeting people with caused a small chuckle to leave Ben’s lips. God, he couldn’t even count the amount of times he’d been in her shoes and he had to give her credit, she was handling it better than he ever could. Upon hearing about the buffet, his eyes darted towards the line that was at said table, groaning internally because he knew it’d be a while until he could get something to eat. That was his own fault, really.. or well his agent’s fault for making him late. He watched as she approached where he was, a grin pulling on his lips. “You really think I’d miss something like this?” Benjamin asked, his grin turning into a smirk. “The chance to welcome you to the old people’s club, free drinks and the chance to get all dressed up? Couldn’t pass that up if I tried. Are you enjoying yourself, though? You are what matters today, after all.”
“Aw, see, Ben, that was almost sweet. But call me old again, and I’ll dismember you,” Angela laughed, her tone just as honeyed as it had been when greeting her guests. She wrapped an arm around his shoulders as she watched the crowd milling around, nudging her hip into his. “I’m what matters everyday, Ben,” she hummed, her slight swaying and repetition of his name betraying exactly how far past sober she’d slipped. “But yes, it’s been everything I expected so far. I think I’ve run into pretty much everyone I’ve ever known, and I’m the center of attention, so not to put too fine a point on it, but I’m in my happy place. And, excuse me, but who told you the drinks are free? It’s a barter system, you trade alcohol for adoration of the birthday girl, duh.”
anders.
“Angela, there’s alcohol here. Do I really need to answer that?” Anders smirked, raising his glass to his lips. He paused for a moment to take a drink, deciding her birthday was probably an occasion he should be nice to her… for a moment anyway. “Happy birthday,” he relented sincerely. “25?” he smiled, giving her a small nudge. And that was enough of that for now, two non-confrontational statements per year seemed like a fair amount. “Oh, I was meaning to ask you… is that secretary of yours here?” Anders asked, grin growing as he searched the room before returning his gaze to Angela. “She was just so… accommodating the last time I met her.”
“Well, glad you’re enjoying the selection then, Anders,” she replied with a quick eyeroll, snatching herself a drink from a passing waiter’s tray. She relented as he nudged her good-naturedly, her flat look morphing into a small smile. “Flatterer,” she admonished lightly, nudging him right back. “But thank you, it’s nice to have you here.” Anders was technically still a client, but working with him would be easier if they could see each other less as obstacles and more as friends - but even friendship had its limits. “Are you talking about Crystal?” she deadpanned, cutting her eyes at him. “Because thanks for letting me know I need to work staying 30 feet from you at all times into her contract.”
cassidy.
Cassidy wasn’t used to partying in country clubs-well, if you count the country clubs in her hometown, but parties there end up square-dancing or being outside. But sine this was Angela’s party and she was invited, she decided to go, wearing a cute little black dress with heels, a bottle of Angela’s favorite drink in her hand. “Of course-and happy birthday!” she said as she pulled her into a hug. “And the party is amazing.”
“Thank you, thank you!” Angela trilled gleefully as Cassidy hugged her, smoothly lifting the bottle out of her hand and pressing a quick kiss to the glass. “You’re a lifesaver, my dear. I’m quite sure my booze budget has been fully expended on this party, especially if Paige keeps pouring drinks like I’m made of money.” She laced her fingers with the other woman’s, pulling her arm away from her body to fully inspect her dress. “Little black dress? Very classy, I approve.”
olivia.
“Mysterious? I’m literally an open book… More like–how come Paige didn’t introduce us before?” Liv laughed, shaking her head as Angela mentioned having heard from her. “All good things, I hope? But really… look at you. You’re glowing. As for the top… you can borrow it anytime. I bought it for ten dollars at a small shop in the Village, but I won’t tell’em if you don’t.”
“Are you enjoying your party so far?”
“Oh, sure, but everything else up to this point has been rumor and hearsay. Good rumor and hearsay, though. You seem to have thoroughly charmed more than a few of my friends.” Angela grinned widely, reaching back to place her palms flat against her waist. “That’s just the sugar scrub and highlight, but you’re more than welcome to keep ascribing it to me. Jesus. Ascribing? I’m not drunk enough yet.” Impulsively, she reached out to thumb the edge of Olivia’s top thoughtfully. “That’s incredible. I’m enlisting you on my next shopping trip. Oh, you know. As long as my guests are enjoying themselves, that’s what really matters.”
