i feel so guilty about everything

in the middle of the night on the highway i saw a girl stumbling alongside the road. the beams of the car headlights passing by reflected off of the pale skin on her back and she was glowing like the moon but she was tripping and coughing and she didn't seem to know how to walk. i stared at her as we passed by and yet she kept up with the cars with a trail of stars twinkling after every time her feet would lightly touch the ground. at one point my face was pressed against the window as she turned to look at me and she had the stars in her eyes but she looked so so sad with tears of silver running down her cheeks being guided down her chin from her cheekbones and her mouth was in such a trembling pouting state where she looked like she could fall apart at any second. she was everything i thought was beauty and idolized but she was so full of despair and she looked at me with only a glimmer of hope in her eyes for what i could become in the future to save me from such a crippling sense of sadness and hopelessness. i wonder every day if i made the correct choice. or if the pale ghost i saw on the highway was better. but i will look at myself in the mirror now and see those silver star tears from trying so desperately to mold myself into beauty. except i am the shadow of the girl, i am the darkness bonded to the light, and i am running faster than she ever could.
