“I just have this feeling that it shouldn’t be allowed; being this happy,” Victor sighed, his head nestled firmly into the warmth of Yuuri’s pecs, nose against the steady beat of Yuuri’s heart. Close enough to hear it loud and clear. “I feel like something should stop me, before I die of happiness.”

Yuuri felt the breath butterfly over his skin and hugged his husband closer with a grin, snuggling down into the warmth of their bed. 

“I will fight anyone who says you can’t be stupidly, perfectly happy. Anyone who tries to take that away, I’ll… I dunno… I’ll set Makkachin on them.”

Yuuri’s heart fluttered at the corner of a smile on Victor’s lips. He liked making him smile so much, especially when they were cuddled up like this. His hand stroked absently over the silk of Victor’s hair.

Victor kissed the hollow above his heart, his own smile blossoming and crinkling at the corner of his eyes.

“I love you.”

Victor could make time stop and Yuuri’s heart stutter with his smile, Yuuri knew it. He smiled back, arms wrapped tight around the meaning of his life. The feeling of floating, of surreal happiness flowed through him as well, that made hours like minutes and life like living.

“I love you too.”

Victor’s head nestled back in above Yuuri’s heart, listening to the beat only he could hear.
