man, I've been gone from this whole writing this for a while now, huh... what better way to get back into it with a 30 day writing commitment, right? hopefully it'll stick, but let's not be surprised if it doesnât fit into 30 days exactly...
as per, to coming back to my writing, my account has seen a change of scenery. Iâve changed my account name, too, from @thundering-barnes to @angellbarnes (which is the same as my wattpad username (which Iâm also yet to post on)) oops.
anyway, I saw another account that did this (@witchywithwhiskey) and wanted to try my own! I borrowed some from hers and added a bunch of my own, put it in a randomising list and here we are. I thought as a good way to get back into my writing flow, I can try out a load of tropes/AUs I've been wanting to write for and some new ones as well! Iâm super excited to be writing for all you lovelies againđ¤
I will be writing for Marvel characters (probably mostly Bucky), but maybe some of the actors' other characters. We'll see, I guess.
so, here's the list...
â˘â˘â˘
warnings will be written at the beginning of each fic. also expect language in probably all of them
â˘â˘â˘
day 1 - firefighter AU - sparks flying (bucky)
day 2 - rivals - denial is best served hot (bucky)
musk is going to die in a Tesla explosion in 6 months after sticking his nose where it doesn't belong and we will never get a conclusive answer on whether it was a CIA car bomb or just a normal Tesla malfunction
summary: it's a competition between you two, always. every mission. this one, though, turns out a little differently than you'd expected.
word count: 3.8k
warnings: very very brief mention of blood, criminals, violence, 18+, dry humping, hands stuff but over clothes, utterly filthy dirty talk, horny asf Bucky
A/N: so I'm finally posting. day 2 of my 30 day writing challenge... 12 days later. but that's besides the point. the point is, it's posted and I wayy underestimated how busy I was going to feel after posting the first part. hopefully it'll be more regular from now on, but I think I'd rather take a lil more time on these fics and have the 30 days a bit more flexible, than rush out some that I know I could do so much better on. anyway, please enjoyâşď¸đ¤
Youâre heading towards the meeting room after being called for a mission. The lift stops on Buckyâs floor and he steps in. You side eye each other as the doors close. Itâs tense, but comfortable, as the atmosphere usually is between you two.Â
âWhat do you think the mission is?â You ask him.Â
âWhatever it is, just know that Iâll do it better.â You can sense his smirk while keeping your gaze forward.Â
âIn your dreams, Barnes.â The doors open and you pat his chest before walking off. âIn your dreams.âÂ
He follows with a huff.Â
A friendly rivalry is the way you two put it. It may not come across so friendly, but no harm has ever been done by it. Just a constant competition between you to prove who is the âbetterâ Avenger. You even tried to get everyone to answer a questionnaire about it. To which you only got two replies: Sam who, with no hesitation, answered you, and Tony who simply wrote down his own name.
It all started during a mission, when you and Bucky had decided to take separate hallways, which conveniently had the same number of opposing agents down each, and see who could take them the fastest. The winner, so be it, was the one who reached the adjoining room first. He made it first, and youâd tried to argue your case, wiping blood from your face, and heâd come out clean as a whistle. You made it your mission, from then on, to prove his arrogant ass wrong, and smack the smug grin clean off his pretty face. He bragged about this for ages, and you desperately wanted something to boast, and humiliate him, about.Â
Fury is waiting in the meeting room when you walk in. You seem to be the only ones there.
âWhereâs everyone else?â You question.
âOh, there is no one else.â Fury states. âItâs just going to be the two of you. We need to be as discreet as possible, so we want to keep numbers low.â
You and Bucky glance at each other, silent competition instantly arising.
âSo, what is the mission?â Bucky enquires.Â
âA guy, to put it simply.â Fury replies. âOr, an underground drug and crime lord associated with multiple different gangs, groups and countries and is very, very dangerous. Murder, torture, kidnap, fraud, theft, you name it, heâs done it. But this guy is damn hard to catch. We have a lead at the moment, the best one weâve had, to an underground club. Criminals only, essentially. Called âThe KillOutâ.â
âOhh, I get it. Itâs like chill out, but kill out, right?â Bar the reason for it, you quite like the name.
âWait a second, I recognise that name. I think Iâve been there. Before. As the Winter Soldier, that is.â Bucky says, a concerned frown upon his face.
âSo, what, youâre sending us there? How will we even get in?â You ask. Fury taps the screen heâs holding, and projects it to the one behind. Two profiles show up.
âYour new aliases.â He responds. âBucky, Iâm afraid youâll be returning as the Winter Soldier. They already know you, admire you. Weâve got a new arm for you to wear that is identical to your old one. I know itâll be hard, but youâre just gonna have to, ok?â
Bucky takes a deep breath and simply nods at Furyâs request.
âY/L/N, youâre now going as Betty Smalls, a seemingly innocent but seductive accomplice of the Winter Soldier. Youâre an angel by day but the devil by night, so be it. Make it believable, you two. Our aim is to get him alone, so we have a way of restraining him and taking him away. You have a few hours to prepare and get ready, and your outfits are waiting for you back upstairs.â And with that, Fury sends the two of you off again.
You both receive your profiles whilst in the lift, and a copy of the mission report and what needs to go down in order for it to be successful.
âBe prepared to fail, Barnes, and for me to rise from your ashes as the saviour for this team. Not even sure why you should bother coming along.â You tease.
âIâm the Winter Soldier, sweetheart. You wouldnât even be able to attend without me.â He quips back.
âFine. But thatâs all youâre going to be good for.âÂ
âSee you later, Betty.â Bucky says as he gets out on his floor. He turns and you simply salute him, with a âSee ya, soldierâ as the doors close on you.
You reach your room and, sure enough, your outfit it layed out, with Nat holding a pair of strappy black heels beside.
âPretty cute, huh?â She comments.
âHmm.â You stare at the longline and elegant black dress, the long, white fur coat, and the heels once again and question what led you to this moment. âHello, Betty.â
~~~
You get to the car thatâs waiting for you, barely making it there with both of your ankles in one piece. Bucky is already there waiting. Youâd be lying if you said he didnât look hot as hell clad in leather like that, trousers clinging to his thick thighs. You clear your throat and compose your dirty thoughts as you approach.
âWow,â he coos as he looks you up and down. âBetty looks good.â You wonder if the complement is for you too. Either way, you can feel a small butterfly going crazy in your stomach, having his eyes rake over you like that. He almost looks hungry.
âTake a picture, Buck. Itâll last longer.â You smirk, crossing your arms, unaware that itâs just enhanced your cleavage. Bucky has to tear his eyes away, feeling a sudden tightness in his trousers. âAnyway, Betty has almost broken both of her ankles in these ridiculous shoes. Theyâre something I should be looking at, not wearing.â You let yourself flop down into the backseat. Bucky chuckles and shuts your door, heading to the other side and sitting down beside you. You both put in your ear pieces and the driver starts the car.
âYou guys ready?â Furyâs voice rings in your ear.
âReady.â You say simultaneously.Â
~~~
You both get out of the car, Bucky offering his arm, which you take, before heading to the entrance. There are two huge â huge â men covering the doors. Alas, you keep your confident visage. Youâre a criminal now, remember?
âIâm not Bucky anymore, ok?â Bucky whispers, face oh so close to yours. A shiver runs through you. âCall me soldier, tonight. I donât care how stupid it is, thatâs how I am â was â known.â You turn your face, unaware of how close youâd be to him.
âOk.â You breathe. You carry on walking towards the front of what looks like an abandoned warehouse.
You see the men squint at Bucky, perhaps recognising him. Then look to you. It seems your outfit is enough to distract them as they look at each other and begin whistling and commenting. You roll your eyes to yourself.
âSoldat.â They both say, standing tall in front of who they think is still the Winter Soldier. Bucky simply glares at them. âAnd whoâs this treat?â One of them says, turning to you.
âBetty Smalls, pleased to meet you.â You smile seductively through your lashes, clinging to Buckyâs arm, one hand upon his chest.
âThe pleasure is all ours, sweetheart.â You cringe at them but keep up the act.
âSheâs with me.â Bucky deadpans to them. They both clear their throats, stepping to the side and opening the doors for them. You blow a kiss as you walk through, turning to wink at the other. God, men are so easy to fool in a tight dress and lipgloss.
You head down some stairs, turning left at the bottom and, there it is, above another door, a neon sign with the words âthe KillOutâ in glowing red.
âHere we go.â You say to Bucky. He gives you a tight-lipped smile.
âBetty.â He says.
âSoldier.â And with that, he opens the door and youâre exposed to an entirely different world. A world full of people, criminals, who look just like anyone else would in a club. You keep your cool as Bucky leads you to the bar. There are many eyes on the two of you, whispers between everybody and the Winter Soldier and his girl walk through. All Bucky has to do is look at someone with his intense stare and theyâll move out the way. Itâs kinda hot, you think to yourself.
âAn old fashioned for me and a pornstar martini for the lady.â Bucky says to the bartender. You flash him a âseriously?â look and he just winks back at you. So does the bartender when he hands you your glass.Â
You take your drinks and Bucky stares a couple out of their seats in a booth in the corner of the bar. You have the view of the whole place from where you are.Â
âThere.â Bucky says, eyeing a man whoâs just walked in, sitting himself at the bar. âThatâs our guy.â
âYouâve located him?â Fury asks through the comms.
âApparently so. But that is not who I was expecting.â His flamboyant style consists of a deep burgundy/pink suit, with, no doubt real, rhinestone detailing along his collar and lapels. His black suede boots have at least a two inch heel to them. His cheekbones shimmer under the dim lighting with highlight and his red eyeliner perfectly compliments his devilish looks. As well as that, you notice the way he crosses one leg over the other and delicately stirs his drink while eyeing up the bartender.
âWell, I never.â You say, leaning back into your seat and folding your arms.
âOk, go and order me another drink and flirt with him. Our best option is for you to seduce him so we can get him alone.â You laugh a little too loudly and have to cover your mouth at his suggestion. He looks extremely confused at your outburst. âWhat?â
âI think you mean you need to seduce him.â You shortly reply.
âExcuse me?â He questions, sitting more upright to face you.
âAre you kidding me? Even a blind person could see that heâs oh, so clearly, gay, Barnes.â You're smiling excessively and his mouth has dropped. You smirk and prop his jaw back up so his mouth is shut. âWhat are you waiting for? Go get him, tiger.â
âOh, I donât think so, Y/L/N. I see what youâre doing. Youâre trying to humiliate me, hit on this guy for your amusement. Itâs not going to work. Now just go so we can get this mission over with.â You sigh at his ignorance, although that would be a good prank. Maybe another time.
âNo, Buck, Iâm not doing anything. Look at the guy. Heâs one Madonna song away from voguing across the floor.â Your state.Â
âCriminals can be over the top, you know? Just remember Zemo and his purple pimp coat.â He quips.
âOk. What about the fact that heâs practically drooling over the bartender?â Your question is aimed rhetorically. Bucky is clearly struggling for an answer and the two of you become stuck in an intense staring contest. Neither planning on breaking first.
âStatus report, guys? Howâre we lookinâ?â Fury asks.
âBucky canât accept the fact that our guy is clearly gay as all hell and is trying to get me to seduce him.â You reply, still not breaking eye contact.
âWait, so let me get this straight. You two have gone to a bar, got yourselves a drink, sat yoâ asses down and have been arguing over whether the incredibly dangerous criminal weâre trying to capture is into fuckinâ men or women? Are you fucking kidding me?â Suddenly, Furyâs words send yours and Buckyâs eyes back to your target. âGet your heads together, agents, and will one of you, for the love of God, go and flirt with the enemy.â Fury cuts off and youâre left in silence. Bucky leans back in his seat and you raise a brow at him.
âGo. You heard the guy. Now, go ânâ flirt with the enemy.â He smirks.Â
âFine. Iâll go over. Iâm going to have so much fun proving you wrong. My gaydar is never off.â You hold your glass up to Bucky as he scoffs, and saunter over to your target, who you know as Mr. Argot Boughley.
âHey, honey. Saw you from the other side of the bar. Thought you looked lonely.â You wink at him and take a sip from your glass.
âOh, Iâm sorry babe, Iâm not-â
âOh, no, I know.â You cut the man off, chuckling. âI can tell a manâs man from a mile off. My friend, heâs shy, you see. But sweet as sugar once you get past the murderous tendency, am I right?â You point your glass towards Bucky, to which Argotâs eyes follow. You see him looking confused in his shadowy confinement of the corner booth. âCute, right?â
âMmm, as a puppy. I bet he looks good with blood on his hands.â He comments, side eyeing you with a smirk.
âLike you wouldnât believe.â You play along. Whatever gets him captured and proves Bucky wrong. âHe likes a confident guy. Iâll send him your way, shall I? You two look hot together, I can already tell.â
âTell him Iâll have a drink, and maybe something more, waiting for him.â He winks, biting his lip as he drinks Buckyâs form with his eyes. You walk smugly over to Bucky and sit yourself back in the booth. He looks concerned.
âWell? Did he fall for you or not? Should get back over there so you can get him alone.â Bucky says, to which you just giggle.
âOh, baby boy. Sweet, naive, baby Bucky. That man over there is as straight as a roundabout. Iâm not doing anything for him, but I told him Iâd send you over. And heâs got a drink waiting for you.â Buckyâs eyes widen at your words, and you relish in his confusion. He has no words coming out of his open mouth.
âHeâs really gay, huh?â Bucky weakly accepts his defeat and you grin in response as he makes eye contact with Argot, who holds up the drink heâs ordered.
âTime to shine, Barnes. Get your gay on. And, whatever you do, donât fuck it up.â
He takes a breath and, shaking his head at you, stands himself up and heads over to Argot. You sit back and let the scene in front of you unfold.Â
Argot begins by caressing Buckyâs thigh and continuously leaning closer to him. To begin with, youâre chuckling to yourself, thinking of the things youâll be able to tell the team when you get back, but Bucky seems surprisingly believable when he also leans closer to Argot. Buckyâs hand roams Argotâs thigh and torso, as he grins and charms the pants off of Argot. You find yourself frowning at the two of them, unsure of the twang of jealousy that creeps through you. Their faces grow closer and closer and, before you know it, they share a short, but sweet kiss.Â
Props to Bucky for the commitment, though you now find yourself wanting another drink. A strong one.
You canât help the way your jaw drops when Argot begins leading Bucky away from the bar and through a doorway that you assumed led to the bathroom. Clearing your throat and trying to look as discrete and nonchalant as possible, you follow shortly after. Itâs acting. Buckyâs acting. So, why did your jealousy feel so real?
When you turn the corner, youâre met with a corridor littered with doors, each to a different room. They must be for everyoneâs criminal meetings. Or, whatever. You roll your eyes at your internal monologue and talk into your comm.
âBuck, if you can answer me, which room are you in?â No response.
You start heading slowly down the corridor, hand lightly atop the blade tucked neatly beneath your dress. Your head is lowered, trying to focus on and make out the sounds coming from each room. And there were a lot. Yelling, negotiating, probably murdering, moaning, the lot, and then there it is. A deep thud. And a muffled âgoddamnitâ from Bucky.Â
âBingo.â You say, staring at room 22. You groan when you find that the door is locked. Youâre pressed up against it to see if you can hear anything else going on, when itâs unlocked and you go stumbling into Bucky.
âSteady.â He chuckles as you straighten yourself up. He shuts the door and locks it again. âCareful, I think youâre starting to fall for me.â He smirks, hands proudly on his hips. Your throat is dry but you manage a dirty look his way.
âWhat did you do to him?â You ask when you turn your focus to Argot. Heâs out like a light.
âA simple dose of my fist in his face. Trust me, heâll be out for hours.â He gets to work tying Argotâs hands behind his back, ready to get him out of here and most likely shut the rest of the club down.
âHuh, good work I guess.â
âI was going to keep him around for a bit longer to see if I could get some information out of him first but, uh. He, uh⌠He tried toâŚâ Buckyâs stuttering like crazy and your grinning, arms crossed, head tilted, ready for him to admit his wrong. âHe tried to kiss me. Again. And more. I donât know, it was a reflex. But, whatever, you, uh, you were right.â He mumbles the last part and turns away sheepishly.
âIâm so sorry, Barnes, I missed that last part. I was what?â You move closer to him and wait for him to say it to your face.
âYou were right about Argot.â He mumbles again.
âNope, sorry. Didnât catch that.â Suddenly his eyes grow wide and youâre slammed against the wall. His body is firmly pressed against yours, faces mere inches apart and breathing heavily. Your heart rate has most certainly doubled.
âI said, princess, that you. Were. Right.â His eyes bore into your soul and you honestly canât tell any of your emotions apart anymore.
âThatâs all I wanted to hear.â You squeak.
âBut donât get me wrong. You may have been right about Argot,â Oh no, his cocky voice is out. âbut donât think I didnât notice the way your fist clenched around your glass when he touched me, or how you couldnât bear the sight of him leaning in towards me, even more so when he kissed me. Bet you wished it was your hands, your lips, on me, huh?â
Youâre speechless. Heâs right. How can he be right? You take in a sharp breath and dare yourself to look into his piercing eyes.
âIn your dreams, Barnes.â You just about make a sound. A very unconvincing one. So much so, Bucky chuckles at your weak excuse for a response. He brings his hand to caress your cheek.
âBabygirl, you can deny this all you want, but I sure as hell was picturing your lips when he kissed me. Darlinâ itâs the only way I could do it. Be honest, youâve never thought about it? About this, about us? Tell me you havenât, and Iâll back away right now.â He lowers himself to release his deep voice into your ear. âRight now.â
Youâve never wanted a man so bad. And you hate yourself for it.
You turn yourself to look at him, lust blanketing over both of you like a storm. A surge of emotions and desire, now taking over. âI hate you. Come here.â You grab his face and pull him to your lips. The kiss is deep, passionate, messy, and long overdue.Â
Finally, the pent up tension that youâd each been denying is being released. And it couldnât be hotter. Your hands roam each other like itâs life or death, just wanting to feel each other. Everywhere. Your lips donât stop. Then he starts kissing, nipping and licking your neck, forcing moans from you. You pull his hips into you and his hard on presses up into you. You both groan and look into each other's eyes. He begins grinding against you and you resume the kiss, now peppered with moans in between. You tug on his hair and he releases an almost feral sound. You smirk up at him. He does the same in return as he slips his hand beneath your dress and lets his hands roam over your soaked panties.
âAll this for me?â He whispers, nipping at your ear. The sensation of him rubbing the thin fabric over your clit has you arching and moaning against him. âDoll, I donât know how Iâve gone this long without fucking you. Iâve thought about it, ya know? By myself. In bed, in the shower. But I knew my hand would never feel as good as you would wrapped around me. Itâll never be as good as having my cock inside that pretty pussy of yours. Isnât that right, baby?âÂ
Youâre a mess. From his words, from his actions. This man is going to ruin you. And youâre going to let him.
âYes.â You gasp. âBucky, fuck, thought about you too. Touched myself thinking âbout you. But this is so much better.â You palm his erection over his trousers and he groans deeply into your neck.
âFuck, baby.â He breathes.
âBy the way, Iâm still gonna tell everyone about how I was right about Argot.â
âI swear, Iâm-â
âAgents? Itâs been a while. What the hell is going on over there and please, for the sake of my sanity, tell me that motherfucker is caught now.â Nickâs voice yells at both of you, clearly unaware of anything. Your hand flies to cover your mouth. You canât help the chuckle that escapes your lips, and Bucky does the same. He brings his hand to his ear.
âEverythingâs fine. Weâve got the guy. Heâs down and ready to be brought back. You can send the other agents in to shut this place down.â Bucky replies. Cool, calm and collected. Like nothing else was going on.
âFinally. What in the hell took you so long?â Fury bites back.
âUh, yeah, sorry about that. Things got a little⌠harder than we expected.â You roll your hips against Bucky and he clenches his jaw not to make a sound.
âFine. Well, at least itâs done. Good work. You can head back to the compound now.â
Youâre left in a silence, eyes devouring each other. Hungry for each other
Bucky leans back down to you, a growling undertone to his words âGuess weâve gotta finish what we started back at the compound. I canât wait to be inside you, doll.â
âExcuse me?â Furyâs voice is back and both your eyes widen.Â

A couple of weeks agoâŚ
âWanda, stop!â you yell. âYou know how ticklish I am!â Youâre fighting against her as she pins you down. Nat is cackling beside you, laughing at your struggling.
âSay it! Admit you like him!â She cries.
âNo! Iâll never!â You cry back.
A relaxed girls night seemed like a good idea before truth or dare was involved, and it led to both Nat and Wanda forcing you to admit your schoolgirl crush on Bucky, a firefighter in your neighbourhood.
âThen I wonât stop.â Youâre fighting for breath at this point, before you kick your leg perfectly, or unfortunately, to knock over a candle on the side. It falls to the carpet and everyoneâs eyes widen.
âShit!â You exclaim. You grab a pillow and hit it over the flames repeatedly. You exhale heavily when itâs out. You turn and see Wanda and Nat smirking as Nat is holding her phone to her ear. âWha- Nat, no!â You say sternly, you can see her plan smug on her face. She holds her finger up at you as she starts speaking.
âHey, Steve, we just had a small fire over here, maybe you should come over to make sure itâs been put out properly⌠Yeah, just a candle, nothing major⌠Ok, thanks babe. Oh, and you should probably bring Bucky too, if heâs around. Cool, see you soon.â She hangs up.
âSeriously?â You deadpan.
When they arrive, youâre sitting on the sofa with Wanda and Nat opens the door. Of course, behind Steve, Bucky comes striding in too. Wanda wiggles her eyebrows at you, poorly hiding her grin. You simply roll your eyes.
âWhatâve we got here then?â Steve remarks, blankly staring and, frankly being unimpressed, at the charred patch of carpet beneath you.
âI just knocked over a candle. It is absolutely no big deal and itâs clearly out.â You reply, tight lipped. Avoiding eye contact with the looming brunet beside him, as if youâd drop dead if you were to. âWhat would we do without you two though?â You sarcastically add.
âWhat even happened?â Bucky asks, and you finally look at him, in the eyes, as you silently die inside while searching for a reason other than the truth.
âWanda pushed me into it, and then it fell on the carpet.â Bucky raises a suspicious brow at your answer.
âOk,â Steve says. âJust maybe try to keep candles upright from now on. We should go, Buck, and get to that bar before itâs too busy.â
âYou guys are going out? Weâll come with!â Nat jumps up and pulls Wanda from the sofa, stretching her hands out to you next.
âI would, but Iâve got an early shift tomorrow. A 6am start is not what I want on less than 7 hours of sleep.â You reply, honestly this time.
âUgh, fine.â Nat whines. Everyone starts to head out as you hold the door. You say bye to everyone and wish them a good night as Bucky hangs back.
âShame you canât come tonight, maybe next time?â He leans in the doorway and you think your heart actually skips a beat.
âYeah, sounds good.â You canât help but smile as he flashes a cheeky grin. He begins walking out and you admire his frame. Itâs a shame he canât put out the fire roaring inside of you right now.
âHave a fun shift tomorrow!â He calls out.
âOh, I will.â You shut the door and roll your eyes and the feelings he gives you.
NowâŚ
âUgh, stupid fucking lights!â You growl and the flickering bulb above you, which eventually goes out altogether. You know itâs not the lightbulb because youâve only just changed it. The same thing happens in your bedroom and the kitchen. Determined, you set out to find the light panel for your flat, which is somewhere in the building. You finally find it and open it up. You see your flat number and, beneath it, some switches and screws and wires youâve never encountered before.
âFuck it.â You take out your screwdriver and just head into this unknown world. You try a few switches and screws when a couple of sparks fly. You jump back with a slight shriek. Your eyes widen and your hand covers your mouth as the sparks turn into a small flame.
âNooo. no, no, no, no, no, shit, shit, shit.â
The flame begins to grow and you look around, with no luck, for some sort of fire extinguisher. The nearest thing is a fire alarm. Brilliant. 10 in the evening and now the whole building is going to hate you.
âFor fucks sake.â You press the alarm and run away from the scene of the crime before people can see you near it.
Everyone is stood outside, cold and annoyed, when the engines arrive. With everyone in gear itâs hard to tell whoâs going in. Youâre all waiting for a short while before they tell everyone itâs taken care of and you can start heading back in. The firefighters begin taking off their helmets and masks. You notice Steve and â shit â Bucky. You donât have time to get away before he spots you too. He heads over.
âHey. Iâm starting to get used to this building now.â He comments. You chuckle lightly. âIâm worried youâre heading towards becoming an arsonist.â Your eyes go wide.
âHow did you know it was me?â You whisper-yell. His eyes widen in response, brows furrowing.
âWe didnât. I was just making a joke, but now Iâm actually concerned about you.â He folds his arms and laughs as you slap your hand to your face in stupidity.
âOh. Shit. Uhh, thereâs no getting out of this, is there? Oh god, are you meant to arrest me or something? Ok, hereâs the plan: I never said or did anything. Sound good?â You reason, realising youâre just continuing your idiocy. He just smiles in response before nodding his head toward the building.
âShould I walk you up? Just to make sure you donât start any more fires.â He quips and you scoff, rolling your eyes and playfully elbowing him.
âFine. Just to make sure.â
âYou do realise Iâm going to be telling Steve about this?â Bucky says when you reach your door. âAnd then heâll tell Nat, who will then tell Wanda.â He smirks, leaning against the doorway again after you step inside. God, you love a man in uniform. Although, youâd like him more out of itâ
âOh, Iâm prepared for that.â You look back into your apartment, and at that patch of carpet from last time, and why it happened. âDid you want to come in?â
âUhhâŚâ He begins. You mentally scold yourself. He clearly doesnât want to. But then again, heâs still in uniform.
âOh, shit, are you still on duty? Or you donât want to. Either way, itâs fine. Sorry for asking.â You ramble.
âNo, no, thatâs not it. Iâm actually technically finished now. I was just going to ask if you wanted to go to that bar now? As long as you donât have another early shift tomorrow, that is.â You light up inside at his question, and canât help the grin that spreads across your lips.
âYes! Yeah, that sounds nice, I mean.â You shyly look at the floor and notice he steps forwards. He lifts your chin with his finger so youâre looking into his eyes.
âUh, thereâs actually something else I wanted to ask youâŚâ He begins, and you both instinctively begin to lean into one another.
âYeah?â You reply softly. The corner of his mouth lifts.
âCan I kiss you?â He whispers into your lips and your breath hitches.
âYes.â You pull him into you with his jacket and his lips press against yours. Suddenly, another fire is igniting. But a much, much better kind. The kiss is deep and long-awaited, both of you trying to get closer, while already being flush against one other. Finally you part, chuckling and biting your lip.

Forgotten Love series masterlist
You watch snow falling past the window. Your view is a horizon of white, snow blanketing as far as you can see. Bucky, beside you, scrolls through Christmas films on Netflix.
A huge tree stands in the room, draped in amazing and sparkly decorations. Lights are hung up around the living room of the compound, and a fire is crackling in the fireplace.
âWhat are we feeling like today? Thereâs Elf, or Krampus. So, comedy or horror?â He looks to you but youâre already deeply lost in his eyes.
âAnything.â You feel warm, safe, wrapped in a blanket and his arms. He puts on Elf and holds you tighter, pulling you towards him as you lay your head on his chest.
âMerry Christmas, Buck. I love you.â You murmur.
âI love you too, doll. Always.â
He leans down to kiss your forehead and you wish never to leave this moment.
âHey, wait here.â Bucky says, jumping up from the couch and leaving the room. In no time heâs back beside you, holding out a small gift.
âBuck, what is this?â
âFor you. I wanted to wait until this evening.â
You shake your head and giggle, unwrapping the small box.
Itâs velvet, dark blue, once the wrapping is gone.
âBuckyâŚâ
âItâs not what you think it is. Trust me, I want to, but not yet. Just open it.â Heâs grinning from ear to ear.
You open the box to reveal a key. At first youâre confused but then your eyes grow wide as you look back at him.
âI found us a place. Itâs small, but we can make it our own. What do you say?â You take no time to jump in his lap and kiss him.
âYes! Of course!â You kiss him all over, grinning like a child and staring at the key.

series masterlist
Buckyâs pov:
I canât explain it. There are fireworks going off in my brain, millions of them, but I donât know whoâs setting them off. That wicked manâs words echo through me but nothing comes of it. I have a history with Y/N. Clearly. I need to figure out what it was, how deep it was, and how much Iâve forgotten about our past. I didnât realise how much this seems to be hurting her.
Your pov:
Friday calls Bucky to the meeting room after you, Tony and Steve get back. Waiting for him to get there, Tony is pacing the room and youâre biting your nails. Steve stands with his arms crossed, brows furrowed as heâs lost in thought.
Once everyone is sat around the table, Tony begins briefing everyone on this mission and what we were told by Kerson. As Tony speaks, you canât stop staring at Bucky, a frown on his face, just waiting for what Tonyâs about to say.
âDue to the circumstances of this mission, the three of us have decided that we should have the least amount of us go in as possible. We donât wanna draw attention. So unless you want to go and anger the wizard by telling him that Iâm taking time travel out of retirement, Iâd suggest this just stays between us.â
âSo whatâs the plan?â Bucky asks.
âYou and Y/N. Youâre going to be the ones to go. Y/N knows the place from⌠before.â You look down as he says that. âAnd you know how they operate. Youâre both skilled. And Barnes, before you start arguing, you canât say no bec-â
âAlright.â Bucky says, and clearly everyoneâs a bit shocked.
âAlright?â You say, and he looks at you.
âAlright.â He turns back to Tony. âIt makes sense.â
âWow. Thatâs probably the easiest conversation Iâve ever had with you, Buckaroo.â Tony grins, and he takes you to get your suits.
Once Tony has briefed you on how the suits work, youâre ready to go. Tonyâs had to bring Banner into the mix, to help with the GPS, but once you and Bucky are standing on the platform, youâre ready to go.
âRemember what we talked about? And all youâre looking for is the hard drive. In, out. Be safe, the pair of you.â Steve says.
âOkay, sending you in in five, four, three, two-â Bannerâs voice is cut off when you and Bucky are sent into the quantum realm. Within seconds, youâre both standing in the hallway of the old Hydra base. You duck behind the corner just as some agents appear.
âGo ahead,â Bucky says. âLead the way.â
You start down the hallway, heading towards Kersonâs headquarters. Everythingâs fine until a guard turns the corner. You shove Bucky to the side, behind a large piller, so he canât be seen. But itâs too late for you.
âMiss Y/L/N, I didnât realise you were out at the moment.â He says, clearly wary of your presence.
âJust stretching my legs.â
âNew suit?â He questions.
âIâm trying it out.â
He gives you a once over before carrying on as he was. You release a breath and Bucky walks over.
âWow, you really had them wrapped around your little finger, didnât you?â He continues on and you have to catch up, rolling your eyes as his remark.
âYeah, youâre welcome for saving your ass, it was no problem.â Now it was your turn to walk on ahead.
You turn a corner and Bucky realises itâs the corridor that he and Steve went down on the last mission, and you recognise it too. You start to walk faster to get out of there, your breath quickening as you get to the door.
âWait,â Bucky says. You turn and heâs stood at the door. Your heart is pounding.
âWhat are you doing? Come on.â You try but itâs no use. He reaches for the handle.
He enters the room and is suddenly met with two guards. You rush over and take on the second as he deals with the first. Once they're down you both walk in, hesitant.
A small breath escapes Buckyâs lips as heâs met with himself. Past the glass of the confined room youâre in, his past self is sat in that chair, strapped down, ready to be tortured. His skin crawls and so does yours; you know whatâs coming next.
âCome on. We donât have to watch this. Letâs goâ
âNo no, I wanna see this.â He insists.
You stay with hesitancy, biting your lip until the faint taste of blood appears. Youâre about to walk out, but then you enter the room. You hold your breath, watching yourself walk slowly over to Bucky. You crouch down in front of him, hands gently placed on his thighs. And, even next to you, Bucky can see that your presence calmed him. His features relaxed. He realises you must have been talking to him.
âLet me hear it.â He says.
âI- I donât know how.â Your voice is hoarse. Bucky turns to you, pleading with his eyes and you give in. You step forward to press a button. The speakers in the room youâre in crackle and your voice is clear through them.
âI promise, okay? I promise Iâll get you out of here. Weâll both get out.â You lean up to kiss him before whispering again that itâs going to be okay, leaning your forehead on his.
You look at Bucky standing next to you. He's confused. You can tell that his brain is going at a thousand miles per hour. He opens his mouth to speak but more people enter the room: Kerson and a couple of his minions. Your past self rushes to stand as Kerson stalks towards you.
âSaid your goodbyes yet?â
You stay quiet.
âCome with me, sweetheart.â You begrudgingly follow him to the control panel. He holds his hand to the lever, ready to pull, ready to put Bucky through unimaginable torture, when he stops.
âI know what would be more fun.â He steps back, flashing you a wicked grin. âYour turn, sweetheart.â
Your eyes grow wide. âWhat?â
âGo on. You can do it, sweetheart, just one pull.â He smirks.
âNo.â
âExcuse me?â
âNo.â You repeat. You hear Kerson chuckle slightly before he clears his throat. One of the guards walks over to you and pulls out a gun, holding it to your temple.
âWould you like to try that again?â
You have virtually no escape, and anger courses through you, before you hear Buckyâs voice.
âItâs okay. I promise. I forgive you, Iâll always forgive you, doll.â Tears form in your eyes, past and present selves praying for a different outcome than the one you already know.
âIâm sorry.â You hear yourself whisper.
At this point, standing next to you in the booth, Bucky is now looking at you, on the verge of tears, and he sees now. He has no anger. His eyes too gloss over, and he wishes so desperately to be able to remember whatâs about to happen. His own screams rip his eyes from you as he watches himself being tortured. You have to look away.
Holding the lever, you see Kersonâs sadistic smile. You canât do it anymore. So you stop.
âWhat are you doing, sweetheart?â A tear falls from your cheek. All you can do is shake your head at him as your anger begins forming words in your throat.
âY/N, no.â Buckyâs rough voice is almost a whisper. He looks at you, eyes full of sorrow and pain.
âNo. I wonât do this. I wonât let you control me anymore. Iâve had enough, enough of you and enough of Hydra. Iâm not going to let myself succumb to your control. Youâve tortured me and forced me to watch the love of my life be tortured as well. And now youâve made me torture him myself. Youâre sick. And I wonât let this be my life anymore.â
Seemingly bored, Kerson nods to the agent holding the gun. You reflexes grab his wrist as he pulls the trigger. You groan in pain as the bullet flies through your right shoulder. You fall to the ground but shoot the agent dead. You get up and run. You run and you donât look back. Leaving Hydra. Leaving Bucky.
Bucky turns to you, with so many thoughts rushing through his mind. You can only look at the ground.
âYou⌠You didnât⌠IâŚâ He can barely form a sentence.
âWe need to go. Weâre wasting time. We have a mission to finish.â You deadpan, leaving the room.
You hardly speak for the rest of the mission, but it runs smoothly; finding the drive and getting back to the compound, avoiding Buckyâs eyes and ignoring his questions.
On returning to the compound, Tony, Steve and Bruce stand with hopeful looks on their faces. Without wasting a second you place the drive down on the table in front of them and leave, locking yourself in your room.
~~~
Youâve been sitting in silence for the past hour until thereâs a knock at your door. You slowly push yourself up and answer it, being met with Bucky.
âHey.â He says. You want to scream, to break down crying, but you just take a deep breath in.
âHey.â
âIâm sorry.â He says âIâm sorry for everything, and all the things I had no idea you were going through. Since I met you, I have always felt drawn to you, like this invisible force pulling me towards you. But I thought it was stupid considering all that I could remember about you was⌠Anyway, Iâm just sorry. I wish I could remember everything but-â
âYou still donât remember me? At all?â Sadness clouds his blue eyes, like mist covering the ocean. He looks down.
âNo.â He whispers. You feel the waterfall forcing its way through your eyes.
âGoodbye, Bucky.â You close the door and fall back against it. You wait to hear him walk away before collapsing on the floor and letting your tears overcome your body. You run yourself out of sadness until youâre left feeling empty, and the blanket of sleep covers you.
Youâre woken by repeatedly frantic knocks at your door and your name being shouted. Groggily, you get up and answer it, still half asleep, eyes half closed.
âThank god,â Tony breathes, âThought you were dead for a minute there.â
âTony, what is it?â
âThe drive. We were looking through it, finding a lot of dirt on Hydra. And then we came across a certain formula.â You cock your head at him, raising an eyebrow for him to actually get to the point. âItâs Barnes. They have a way to bring his memories back.â
~~~
You race to the lab, turning the corner to see Bucky under some sort of anaesthesia or something. Steve walks over to you.
âIs it working? Whatâs going on?â
âHey, deep breaths, okay?â Steve assures you itâs fine. âWeâre doing it. He didnât want to waste any time so they put him straight under. We just have to wait. Heâs going to be fine.â
Itâs about an hour until Tony and Bruce are ready to wake him up, but itâs a slow process and he needs to wake up naturally.
Suddenly, you notice his eyelids flutter, a finger twitch, a change in his breathing.
âHeâs awake.â You whisper, hope laced in your words.
His eyes open slowly, and he begins looking around the room. First at Tony and Bruce, then at Steve and, finally, at you.
His eyes narrow. He looks confused as he searches your face. Your heart begins to drop. He doesnât remember. It didnât work. He doesnât remember. He pushes himself up from where he was sitting and begins making his way over to you. When heâs in front of you, you can only look up at his gorgeous eyes, wishing he knew who you were. He searches your face and as he does so, he brings his hand up to hold you, pushing your hair away slightly, stroking your cheek with his thumb. You notice his eyes gloss over as you lean into his touch.
âI remember.â He whispers. You release a sigh of relief, almost crying at his words. Your heart feels happy. You feel happy. Real happiness, for the first time in so long.
Not wanting to waste this moment, he leans down and captures your lips with his. Itâs a delicate but deep kiss, like you havenât seen each other in years. Itâs meaningful. Itâs love.
Tears fall down both of your cheeks as your lips part. You stand holding each other, foreheads together, never wanting to let go.
âI remember, I remember.â Bucky repeats. âI remember you. I remember all of you. I remember loving you and losing you. I never want to lose you again.â
Peter loves physical touch so heâs all about physical affection, heâll hold your hand, heâll give you random hugs and oh boy, heâs a sucker for cuddles.
SO MANY KISSES!Â
 Heâs not huge on PDA, there are a few exceptions, like hand holding, hugs, being super close to you, etc.
Peter isnât really the jealous type, he has a lot of trust in you however if a guy or someone starts getting a little too comfortable, Peter will get super touchy.
Outside of school and his Spider-Man stuff, Peter always tries to make time for you.Â
If he misses an event or is a little late to something, he will try his best to make up for it.
Peter is super protective, not to the point of toxicity, well maybe sometimes but he doesnât realize it. Heâs already suffered enough loss, losing you would be the last straw.
You get a papercut? Heâll rip up the paper (unless itâs homework). Get a bruise or a small injury, heâll give it a kiss (unless itâs somewhere a bit awkward)
Heâs super nurturing and loves taking care of you.
Sometimes when youâre fixing Peter up after a night of fighting crime, heâll just stare at you with the biggest heart eyes.Â
Aunt May loves you! She sees how happy you make Peter and it makes her happy. She finds it adorable the way you two stare at each other.Â
 Youâre basically part of the family now, well, in Mayâs head.
 If youâre ever sad or just not in a very good mind space, Peter notices almost immediately. He will do anything to make you feel better, even if it means giving you some space.
He becomes a very cuddly teddy bear when youâre not doing so great, this boy will let you cry and slobber all over him and still call you cute.
When he gets sad, he gets pretty needy of you because youâre his safe place and sometimes, he doesnât know who else to go to.
He definitely has a playlist of songs that remind him of you and he keeps it secret.Â
He keeps all the notes you pass him during the classes you have with him, even if it says something stupid and random, he likes your handwriting.Â
A lot of hangouts on the rooftops of buildings with a good view.
Study dates!Â
When the two of you are apart, he loves talking on the phone or face timing.Â
Many nicknames! Some are super dorky, some super cute and some very questionable.
Fights are pretty rare but if you two have a big one, heâll make up for it and vice versa.
Your window is his second entrance and definitely his favorite.
Peter loves to spoil you, heâll either buy you a bunch of gifts or make them. He always makes sure to show you a lot of love.
Peter Parker is just deeply in love with you, thatâs all there is to it.

series masterlist
You wake up a couple of weeks later.
You feel tired, weak. Before you let your eyes open, your mind recounts its last memories at that Hydra base. The pain. The torture. The-
The serum.
They took the serum.
Your eyes dart open, begging for it to have been some awful, vivid nightmare. But no.
âYouâve got to stop ending up here,â Steve remarks from beside you. It makes you jump. You open your mouth to reply, but your thoughts stop you. He notices the distress in your eyes and his face drops with concern. He moves to sit on the edge of the bed, holding your hand.
âHow long have I beenâŚâ
âAlmost two weeks.â
â...What?â Youâre exhausted and can barely make any facial expressions. You look at Steve again, eyes beginning to tear up. âThey took- they took my-â He quickly moves to kneel beside you, hand still in his, sorrow in his eyes.
âHoney I know. Iâm sorry. But we werenât sure how long youâd be here for, so at least youâre awake.â He smiles but you can tell even he doesnât buy it himself.
Steve âjust look on the brightsideâ Rogers.
âDo you think I could be here on my own? Just for a little while.â You smile weakly.
âOf course,â Steve gets up and heads to the door. âIâll let the others know youâre awake, but Iâll make sure no one bothers you for a while.â He smiles before leaving.
An unexpected tear falls down your cheek. But thatâs all it takes to set off the rest. You donât have the energy to try and stop your emotions pouring out, though you donât have the energy to let it all out fully, either. So there you sit, tears running down your face, exhausted and empty.
And thatâs what Bucky sees when he passes your room. Something about seeing you like that, so helpless and upset, tugs on his heart. He canât believe youâre still alive after what he witnessed two weeks ago. The sight of you, in pure agony, engulfed in whatever horrific torture device Hydra had come up with, is something he never wants to go through again.
He decides against visiting. He places the flowers heâd picked up leaning against the door. He doesnât want to intrude. He slowly makes his way back to his room, disregarding anyone he walks past on the way.
He shuts his door behind him and paces.
Since that day, nothing has been the same. It plays like a broken record in his mind. He simply watched as you were being tortured before his eyes. The gag they had used on him had been doused in some kind of liquid, which sedated his muscles, his abilities. He felt helpless. But when you hit the ground, and the man beside him actually chuckled, something inside him just switched. He grabbed the gun from the man, shooting the other agent that had brought him in. Then, swinging with as much force as he could, knocked out the leader. He instantly turned off the machine with the lever, then getting Tony and the rest of the team on the coms to get there asap as he reached your fragile body. It was like you were already dead when he was holding you, and he was honestly terrified. He didnât want you to be dead. The thought almost made him throw up and he had no idea why.
The anger that rises takes over his body as he picks up a glass from the bedside table and it flies across the room to smash against the wall.
Steve rushes over and the door flies open. He audibly sighs when he realises Bucky isnât hurt.
âSorry, just...â Bucky mutters.
âYeah, I know.â
~~~
Itâs another week before you get out of bed. Before then, you had merely been staring mindlessly out of the window or at the flowers someone had kindly got you. Though you never found out who they were from...
The team would always come and check on you, but one face never appeared, however much your mind tricked you into thinking he might be around.
Just go in, Bucky would tell himself. But no matter how many times he stood outside your room or even placed his hand on the door handle, heâd always walk away.
When youâre finally out of the medbay, your first thoughts are to get to the gym. But the more youâre up and walking, even just leaving and heading to your room with Steve by your side, the quicker youâre becoming tired. By the time you reach your door, your eyes are almost closed and youâre yawning. Steve helps you into bed, reluctantly, and you still murmur some inaudible promise of being fine tomorrow and ready for training again.
Steve turns the light off and leaves you to sleep, heart heavy in his chest at the sight of you so frail. What did Hydra do to you? He knows for a fact that you wonât be back in training any time soon, no matter how much you want to. And he sighs at the knowledge of that.
~~~
As you wake up, somehow still as tired as you were when you fell asleep, your eyes widen at the numbers that read from your clock.
3PM? How is that even possible?
You jump up and almost fall straight to the ground. Youâre suddenly light-headed and your legs feel like theyâre made of strawberry laces. You have to sit yourself back on your bed for a moment. You try to push past your bodyâs weariness.
Slowly, you find your workout clothes and put them on, before brushing your teeth and splashing some cold water over your face.
âYou can do this,â you tell yourself. âYouâre not weak.â
When you get to the gym, Nat and Steve are sparring, Sam is on the weights, Tonyâs on the treadmill and Buckyâs at the pull-up bar. Their concerned expressions at your arrival are expected. But you want to show them that youâre fine. You can do this.
âNat, want a go?â You ask, heading over to the mat. She makes a hesitant look to Steve and back to you before replying.
âUh, sure, if you think youâre ready?â Her eyebrows are sloped and tone hesitant.
âI am. You guys think Iâm so fragile now but Iâm fine. Really.â Once youâve prepped, you step onto the mat and Steve stands on the side.
The two of you circle each other for a moment, Natasha clearly worried about throwing the first punch.
âDonât pull your punches, okay?â You smirk before lunging forward and jabbing your fist forward. She dodges. You attempt a left hook, then an uppercut. She dodges them both.
Finally she lunges forward and lands a blow to your stomach, sending you straight to the ground.
âShit!â You exclaim. Steve and Nat both run to your side.
âOh my god, are you okay?â Nat is starting to panic slightly. âIâm so used to you dodging everything I throw at you.â You cough as Steve helps you up.
âIâm good, Iâm good.â You lie. Your insides feel like theyâre being twisted and your head is throbbing. âLetâs carry on.â
âY/N, I donât think thatâs such a good idea.â
âOh, quiet. This is nothing. I can handle so much more than that.â You brush off the comments. Others in the gym are starting to slow their workouts, focusing on you and Nat in the centre of the room.
You continue to spar a bit, and Nat is clearly holding back. Before you can pick her up on it though, you're hit with a rush of light-headedness. The room starts spinning and you lose your footing. You hear some shouting, some being your name, just before your aching body hits the floor.
~~~
Days and weeks pass and you donât get any stronger. Youâve been sentenced to bedrest and youâre only allowed out for necessities. You managed to convince the others to let you go to the gym. Though itâs only once a week, it has to be supervised and you can only use the treadmill. For walking.
âWhat the hell happened? Iâve gone from being an inhumanly strong supersoldier, to being incapable, barely functioning. How does that even happen? Fucking Hydra.â Steve sits at the end of your bed, as he does most days, listening to your moaning mouth ranting on and on. âSteve, what do I do?â His eyes suddenly grow softer than youâve ever seen.
âHoney, I donât know. If I could do something, anything, I would.â
âI know.â
~~~
âHey, howâre you holding up?â Bruce asks kindly as he stands at your doorway, arms folded over his chest.
âOh, Iâm feeling grand.â You forge a smile, but your bloodshot eyes do little to hide what state youâre in.
âI was thinking, if youâd let me, that I could maybe do a couple of tests. You know, take some blood and stuff, try and figure out whatâs going on, and if I can help?â
âYeah, Banner, thatâs fine. But I think Hydra took just about everything they could from me without killing me. So good luck.â
âYou clearly underestimate my talents, miss Y/L/N.â He smirks slightly and the faintest of smiles crosses your face. And itâs real.
So a couple of hours later Bruce is back in your room and so is Natasha, for support (and as a distraction). He takes some blood and saliva samples and takes them back to his lab. All you can do is wait. Wait and hope with all your body will let you.
~~~
The next day you manage to pry yourself out of bed and make your way to the lab. Bruce is already there and so is Steve and Bucky. They all seem extremely focused on something Banner is showing them and talking about.
âWhatâs going on?â You say. Steve rushes to your side to take your arm.
âWhat are you doing out of bed?â You push his arm off you with all the strength you can muster.
âSteve, Iâm not a child. I can walk on my own.â You snap. He backs off but stays close as you make your way over to where the other guys stand.
You stand beside Bucky, Steve by your other shoulder, and Banner in front of you all. He has a concerned frown upon his face and a tablet in his hands.
A sudden rush of fatigue hits you and you stumble, almost falling, into Bucky. He catches you and holds you at his side. A moment of eye contact comforts you and he stays there. He has one arm around your waist and the other hand holds onto yours. He doesnât let go. You turn back to Bruce.
âWhatâs going on?â You repeat yourself, demanding an answer.
âBruce found a way to get your strength back.â Steve explains and your eyes widen with hope. âNot your powers, but your strength.â
âReally?â You turn to face Bruce again.
âYes.â Heâs hesitant to explain. âBut it requires a blood transfusion. Super soldier blood. Itâs the only way; no other blood would help.â
âOhâŚâ
âRogers has already agreed to use his.â
You thank Steve as you push yourself away from Bucky. He smiles that kind smile of his.
âOf course.â
âWhen can we do it?â You ask, eager.
âWell, right now I guess.â Bruce says and Steve nods in agreement. âIf you're ready?â
âYes. Please.â
âAlright, letâs sit you down.â
Bucky is sent away, but not with a last look before walking out. What is with that guy?
In only ten minutes, Steveâs blood has been taken and youâre now hooked up to a machine, feeding the red liquidinto your circulation.
Youâre taken back to your room and sent to strict bed rest for a couple of days. On the third day you wake up feeling awake and not like your bones are as brittle as paper. It worked.
You get back to training, real training, and everyone is glad to see you back to where you belong. As an Avenger.
Youâre in the kitchen one morning, making a cup of coffee, when Tony and Steve enter the room.
âHey guys, want some coffee?â You offer.
âY/N,â Tony begins, âThereâs something we need to show you.â
~~~
âHello, sweetheart.â
That wicked grin. Again. Churning your stomach.
After a tense helicopter ride, knee bouncing almost the whole way, you finally reach the root of all your trauma. Kerson.
âItâs nice seeing you behind the bars this time.â you snarl.
âIâm surprised youâre still alive.â He doesnât break eye contact.
âIâm surprised youâre still smiling. Youâre gonna wish I was dead when I rip that grin right off your face.â Youâre right up against the glass as you growl your words at him, acidity poisoning them like a snakeâs venom.
âAnd youâre going to want to think twice before you do that, sweetheart. Do you want to know why?â Of course you do but you stay silent. You donât want to play his games, feed his humour anymore.
âWhat are you talking about?â Steve asks for everyone. Voice deep, concerned.
âA key.â He stated simply
âA key?â
âWell, not a physical key. A metaphorical one.â He continues when everyone stays silent. âThe key to Hydra. Software, secrets, the whole lot. All on a drive right at your fingertips.â
âWhy are you telling us about this?â You question, âWhatâs in it for you?â
âWell, Iâm here, arenât I? I canât exactly escape, and I donât imagine youâll be letting me out of here any time soon, or alive, at least. If Iâm going down then Hydra might as well go with me.â Your eyes narrow at the wicked man now standing in front of you. Your mind has been obliterated by this man to an extent of which you donât know which words that pass his lips to believe.
âAnd where might we find this key?â Tony asks through his teeth.
âIn our facility. You know, the one you blew up.â A wicked smirk grows upon his lips.
And just like that, all your hope is out the window. Finally, a chance to stop him once and for all and the one thing you need is gone. Turned to ash. You wish to walk into his cell and rip his throat out. Heâs locked up and yet he still finds ways to mess with you and torture you. All over again.
âThere has to be another way. There has to be.â You whisper, pleading for optimism.
Then you notice Steve, his head sharply looking up directly at Tony, with a glint of hope in his eyes. An idea, sparked from seemingly nowhere.
âTony, you still got that time machine going?â

A/N: another late update, what a surprise. This series is actually killing me. Itâs a love hate relationship between me and this series. After this is done I think Iâll postpone anymore series until I have a full plan for one or the time to actually post regularlyđ¤
Series masterlist
âTony, youâve got to be kidding me.â Bucky is almost whining at this point.
âSorry, Barnes, you two will be partnered for this mission. End of.â Tony replies. He sits behind his desk and waves his hand, ushering him to leave.
Bucky, scoffing, faces you with a glare before turning on his heel and storming out of Tonyâs office.
âThanks.â You murmur, running your hand over your face as you leave.

Once again you are outside a Hydra base. A different one, granted. One youâve never seen before. But having Bucky right by your side is making it feel like you have.
The mission starts off with a fight. You and Bucky versus Hydra. Ironic, you think. You almost chuckle to yourself as you shoot another agent.
Surprisingly, or not so, you and Bucky work well in fighting together. Thereâs an unspoken chemistry as you both skillfully take them all out, one by one, sometimes helping each other out.
You both get the last one, shooting them in the same spot on their chest. Itâs almost romantic when you make eye contact, surrounded by the dead bodies of your former âteamâ. He looks away first, but you donât stop. You canât. So you see when his eyes widen at the grenade he realises is about to go off in front of you both.
âGet down!â He yells. He tries to run and cover you, instinctively, though it goes off too soon. You both fly in different directions. The air is knocked out of your chest as you hit the ground. You're coughing when Bucky makes his way over to you, clearing his throat. You should have known. Should have felt it. Buckyâs your kryptonite, youâre weakness
âHere,â Bucky outstretches his hand, which you take. Though instead of letting him help you up, you suddenly pull him down to the ground with you, grabbing the gun out from your holster and shooting behind where Bucky was standing. An agent falls to the ground with a thud.
You face Bucky again and only then do you realise how close he now is. You remember the night at the party. A similar situation, faces almost touching, the weight of his body on yours. He pushes himself onto his forearms but doesnât get up. Doesnât change the distance between you. His eyes stare straight into your soul, and there it is again, a quickening in your heartbeat. This time you can feel his again. In sync with yours. Is it too much of you to think your feelings for him are reciprocated? Deep within his damaged heart, his tortured soul.
âBucky,â Whatever you were thinking of saying is lost to the inch of air between your lips and his. His eyes flick between them and your eyes. When his eyes flicker shut, and he leans in, and you feel the warmth of his breath against your parted lips, and his lips finally brush against yours, the coms are woken. Youâre forced apart, the moment prior all but embers in a dying fire.
âYou guys in yet?â Tony asks, unaware of what he just interrupted.
Bucky clambers to his feet and clears his throat before tapping his earpiece and reporting back.
âAt the front door now.â Without a glance back to you, still on the floor, he heads away and to the front of the base. You groan and look up to the sky, a mental preparation before jumping up and following Bucky to the door.
Once inside, Bucky suggests that you both split up to cover more ground quicker.
âJust shout over the coms if you get into trouble.â He says before running ahead and turning left. How many more times does he have to leave you for him to stop taking your heart with him.
With a huff you head to the right and down a much narrower corridor. Thereâs a door at the end which is seemingly the only way through, so you try the handle. Unlocked.
With a slight click the door then creaks open and you find yourself in a large room. Straight ahead and up there is some sort of balcony or walkway, with a door at one end and a narrow spiral staircase on the other. You notice cameras in each corner of the concrete box youâre in. You shiver with memories of a place similar to this. Thereâs some kind of contraption, you assume, consisting of two large metal-looking pillars standing about a meter or two apart. Their exterior, though metallic, is crystalline and slightly, but not completely, transparent, because you can make out the shapes of two thinner poles within each of them. Something isnât right.
Your face drops. You rush back to the door you came in from, but youâre too late. It slams shut in your face and you hear a lock clicking.
You feel something else. You slowly face back around and to the door above. You wait. You wait until it starts to open, and that face, that face you saw for years, appears once more. The face you want to shoot right between the eyes, that you never want to see again, but that always claws its way into your nightmares. The man that ruined your life before you even knew it.
âHello, sweetheart.â
You visibly repulse at his words and the way he grins when he says them, because he knows what heâs doing when he says them.
âWhat is this?â Your voice is monotone, saving your anger by balling your fists until your nails are piercing the skin of your palms.
âWe gave you these abilities. You didnât think weâd find a way to take them away too?â His snarling grin makes you sick to your stomach. âYou are ours. Well, were ours. But since you have decided to take the weaker side, then you must become that. Letâs see what you are without the serum, shall we?â
You have no time to react when he pulls the lever down from the control panel in front of him on the platform.
In a blaze of light, the pillars in the middle of the room ignite with what looks like static electric energy, buzzing like lightning and meeting each other in the middle.
âTry walking in between them, wonât you?â He questions, though it seems he already knows what will happen.
âIâd rather not.â You reply stoically.
You sense someone else, no, two people, walking towards the door. One of the pairs of footsteps seems hesitant, almost forced.
âWell, then maybe this will change your mind.â Your brows furrow but soon fall back when the door beside him opens again to reveal Bucky. He is gagged and handcuffed with a gun to his head.
âNo!â You scream involuntarily. Damn emotions.
âOh, do you not want your little boyfriend hurt?â The Hydra leader, Kerson as you knew him, torments you. Bucky is fighting against his restraints, but thereâs something clearly going on thatâs sedating him, else the other two up there would be dead already. Your eyes meet his and, for the first time, you can see genuine fear in his eyes. But what you donât know is that the fear isnât for who heâs standing between, itâs for whoâs standing in front of him.
Bucky breaks eye contact when Kerson walks to Bucky and places a firm hand on his chin.
âBet you two have had the time of your lives since reuniting, huh? All that lovey-dovey make-believe that was sickening to say the least. Now youâre free to have it all to yourselves.â He sneers, but Bucky looks more confused than ever, and Kerson tilts his head in question.
âDonât.â You say, a spoken whisper, as your hands fall from the fists they were in. Kersonâs eyes widen and his face beams with amusement and realisation. He turns back to Bucky.
âYou donât remember, do you?â No response. âYou donât remember! Ha ha! Oh, this is golden. We have one that remembers and one that doesnât. That must hurt terribly for you, sweetheart.â Heâs looking at you again with mock sympathy. And you poorly hide the pain heâs feeding within you. He takes the gun from the agent thatâs holding Bucky, and places his finger on the trigger, the gun against Buckyâs temple. His free hand lifts up to point at you and then to the lightning dancing in front of you.
You know what you have to do.
You take a breath, who knows what will happen to you when you step just a few more feet in front of you. Bucky starts struggling and shouting against his gag, but you ignore it. You begin to walk forward, locking eyes with Kerson as you let pain engulf you. The physical pain you feel is surprisingly similar to the emotional pain and torture youâve been going through with Bucky. At least now you have a reason to let your screams out.
Beneath the excruciating pain that you believe could actually kill you any second now, you begin to feel something more. Within your body is the most bizarre feeling. A strange pressure, numbing, almost, as if your blood is actually being sucked from your veins. Slowly, and painfully, you crane your head to the left. You now see the tubes inside the large pillar-esque objects. And one is beginning to turn a shade of blue, its pigment growing with each second. Theyâre extracting the serum, you realise. How?
At this point you know not to question Hydra as to how far theyâd go to get what they want. To best everyone and tower over them with a hideous smirk, malicious and arrogant eyes.
âNoâŚâ Your voice is lost before it leaves your lips. Everything begins to turn into a white, glowing haze. You feel like you're falling, but you canât really tell. Itâs when the white starts to fade into black and the floor becomes closer and closer to your face that you know. And the last thing you hear is a bellow, of anger and pain. Bucky?
