Persephone: *is slightly troubled by anything*
Hades: *wakes up in the middle of the night, covered in sweat, breathing heavy*
Hades: Something’s wrong.
and here we have it: a true greek tragedy
inspired by one of my favorite fictional exchanges ever and @usedbandaid‘s incredible characters
Hades: You can’t make everyone like you. You’re not Persephone.
Thanatos: What? Not everyone likes Persephone.
Hades: Who doesn’t?
Thanatos: Well-
Hades: Names, now. Give me their names.
Persephone: *sheds one tear*
Ares: I’ll kill them. I fucking will, I swear. I don’t even know who I’m killing but I’ve got my knife ready, who we killing today, I...
The CONTRAST between Persephone being angry with Hades and Mynthe being angry with Hades is STARK.
Even when under Ares influence, Persephone is able to pull back, realize that she was about to blow up, and then calm herself down. I really admired this. It’s a hard thing to do.
This is healthy. It sets them up to have a productive conversation with meaningful back and forth. This is NOT verbally, emotionally, nor physically abusive.
Chapter 90 had me screaming and here’s why
Okay folks, it’s theory time.
We have known for quite a while that Persephone’s powers were becoming difficult to control.
I just assumed that it had to do with her randomly developing the power to fly, the hair thing and making stuff bloom with her moodswings. Things however seem to be a bit more extreme. We’ll leave whatever is going on with her name change, acts of wrath and Demeter bribing Hermes to shut him up aside for now because, tho probably related, we still don’t know what the sugarsnaps is going on there.
From her reaction, this is not the first time that happened.
But what really flipped a switch in my mind is Hestia’s reaction.
To put it bluntly, she looks guilty.
But why? I saw a couple of people theorizing she might feel bad for Persephone, and while I agree, I don’t think it has anything to do with Hades. She was more than happy to tear Persephone a new one for the article without even listening to her reason and walking away with a frankly punchable smirk on her face.
I think she has a completely different reason for feeling bad. And I believe it is because staying in the TGOEM might literally be affecting Persephone’s powers.
Why?
Because she is a Fertility Godess.
(I know that. You know that. Everyone who ever gave a cursory glance to greek myths knows that. She’s the godess of SPRING, c’mon. It doesn’t get more obvious than this.)
She’s just stopped aging. She’s coming into her powers as we speak. And her mother is not telling her something very crucial.
And knowing Demeter, I wouldn’t be surprised if she put some incentives for Kore to be accepted into TGOEM regardless of her “situation”, making Hestia an accomplice of her frankly concerning helicopter parent act.

Hades’s Dream
All Hades dreams of is a life with Persephone.
A life where they have children together.
A life where she calls him by his name.
A life where she loves him.
His dream is so simple and I want so badly for his dreams to come true.
But… at this point in the story, that dream feels very unattainable. While we, the readers, know that they end up together, Hades doesn’t know that yet. He doesn’t think he can have that kind of happiness. But worst of all, he doesn’t think he deserves this kind of happiness.
So… I understand why he wakes up sad.

Persephone: I love you
Hera: well?
Zeus: if I was a gardener, you’d be my hoe

The Lore Olympus “Persephone May Have Accidentally Caused the Pompeii Thera Eruption” Theory, in a Nutshell
I really like Minthe from Lore Olympus
Minthe is the toxic ex of Hades. She’s been shown as emotionally abusive and physically abusive at times. However, as we learn more about her, we realize that unlike many portrails of abusers, Minthe is a person. Minthe doesn’t act the way she does out of pure evil, she cares about Hades on some level and deeply regrets the way she mistreats him.
Media tends to portray abusers and toxic people as pure evil psychopaths. This makes people think that that’s what abusers look like, that’s what toxic people act like, they don’t have reasons for acting the way they do outside of pure hatred and evil. This belief makes it difficult for people to spot actual toxic people and even harder to cut the toxic person out of their life.
“They didn’t mean to hurt me, they just have problems they’re working on!”
“They feel really bad about what they did to me and they say that they won’t do it again.”
“They are really loving! They just get a little angry sometimes!”
Minthe and other abusers have feelings, they have reasons for acting the way they do, some have regrets and some love their victims. But none of that makes what they did okay. None of that undoes what they put the victim through. And it especially doesn’t make them worthy of another chance.
If someone is consistently making you feel bad and unsafe whenever you’re around them, YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO KICK THEM TF OUTTA YOUR LIFE. (or distance yourself best u can if its a parent you’re stuck with)
TLDR: Toxic people may be people, but you shouldn’t keep them around because of that
