also need the general public (TikTok fans) to stop treating Michael like a literal baby. Michael said in Childhood that he always tried to compensate for the absence of a normal childhood development. Having certain interests is a way of feeling safe and creating a sense of control after living in an unstable environment for so long. The household he grew up in, plus the confinements of fame, completely took away his autonomy as a kid. He was deprived of crucial emotional needs and normal relationships for his age (his peers were literal adults working in the show business/music industry).
Having “child like” interests isn’t always age regression, but a form of self regulation. Creating Neverland, surrounding himself with his interests and his own forms of escapism… it was a way to reclaim agency over his life and create a safe reality that he lacked. He grew up in an unsafe, fear-based environment with no predictability or healthy boundaries. How someone connects to their inner child or processes trauma doesn’t always determine “mental age” or other aspects of them as an adult. Let me be clear this is not a post about age regression, but the narratives I’ve noticed in this fandom based on assumption. Too many of y’all infantilize Michael and forget he was a whole ass grown man. acting surprised when he cussed or had adult relationships ?
So just a headup yall, the person behind the @/jacksonsdearest account has a twitter, and within that twitter they are sexually harrassing a 17 year old black minor, and they also go caught for pretending to be someone in the past.
Censored the name cuz they repost a lot of porn on the account

off the wall era aesthetic 🧡 I love you forever MJ
I saw some discourse on some subreddits saying Michael’s childhood wasn’t that bad and I just want to know your thoughts on that
maybe it’s just me but Reddit has become extremely more anti Michael lately than usual. But I guess they sleep well at night knowing they justify literal CHILD LABOR on top of the other forms of trauma Michael and his siblings suffered (religious, emotional, physical…). So much of his necessary development was completely neglected. Not to mention Michael’s boundaries were constantly violated by grown ass adults: his intrusive fans, his father, his brothers hooking up with girls in the same room as him… being forced to perform in adult spaces as a child. And then there’s the whole alleged gross mess with Diana that I don’t feel like getting into.
Michael lived in a fear-based environment where he wasn’t allowed to make mistakes as a damn child and was working harder than most adults. And all of this while having his black body objectified and judged as he grew up in front of the entire world ? Yeah redditors are all just loud and wrong as hell
also do not follow me if you’re proship or any of that bullshit. i have this fear that people think because i sometimes write michael to be more feminine means i’m lax about certain topics. a big reason i left ao3 was because of the copious amounts of rape/incest fanfics of michael like im really not tryna deal with that hello?? eugh
