What are your thoughts on the HC of Nny being part of the Membrane family, and do you have any drawings about it? Loove your art btw :]
I find it very charming, I have always liked the idea that JTHM and IZ sharing the same universe, and some of you have already caught me giving Nny some cameos in my IZ/ZADR art, like the one of reintegration into society
I don't think I have made art specifically of Nny directly interacting with the IZ cast or being part of the Membrane familly, but the idea of Dib having someone, although insane, believing his ramblings about Zim being an alien, is adorable in it's own way. And the chaos that this pair could create could be very grotesque and funny. I won't mind actually drawing them!
And ty! 🥹 Really appreaciate it!! 🩷
YEAH totally, I was really happy seeing Nny in the background of that drawing, I'm personally a huge fan of that HC, so it makes me happy when I see it in other fanarts.
Honestly I have way too many thoughts on Johnny being part of the Membrane family and how that'd work (hence the few drawings I've made of them), specially given that Johnny could share a few bizarre stories with his siblings (yeah, I meet god, he was kind of an asshole) and suddenly the aliens are the most normal topic.
i can definitely tell people's kinks based on how they draw/interpret Dib, i can smell it from a mile away
i know we already have canon animalities, but what is your personal take on your faves representative animals and why?
Animalities, ft. Lin Kuei krew, Liu Kang's champions & Harumi and Hanzo.
I hope you don't mind me making this abt my Violets in Rain AU. 12 animalities & their reasons why, thank you for the ask Angel! Going to try to answer this without spoiling what I have planned for my fic. This took me about 2-3 hours to write out.
Tomáš. (💨) Gray wolf. In MK1, I believe his 'canon' animality is a gorilla. But as for the reasoning for Tomáš in my au being a gray wolf, it all comes down to a 'wolf in sheep's clothing.' In this au, I have Tomáš written as the very epitome of that phrase, who pretends to be weaker than he actually is so people let down their guard around him or underestimate him. Wolves also mate for life, so take that as you will!
Kuai Liang. (🔥) Polar bear. In the previous timeline, his animality was a polar bear, and I think that both he and Bi-Han would have animalities fitting of their status in this timeline as the sons of the Lin Kuei's Grandmaster. Polar bears are also very protective, and he's pretty protective of his big brother in this au...
Hanzo & Harumi. (⚔️🗡) A pair of tigers. Now, tigers are very, I want to say, vengeful of their young? And we see in invasions that it does not matter who died and who was resurrected as a specter, they both would become Scorpion and seek revenge for the loss of their family and clan. So having them as a pair seems to make sense. (Ignoring the fact that tigers do not mate for life.)
Yun-Hee/Hydro. (🌊) Siberian tiger, but specifically one with leucism, making her animality appear white instead of orange. Siberian tigers are also exceptional swimmers, which I think fits a hydromancer pretty well. Siberian tigers are also the national animal of South Korea, Yun-Hee's homeland.
Theo/Cyrax. (🌻) Albatross. They mate for life, and they're also known for flying without flapping their wings. The Albatross symbolizes a dualistic nature; representing a psychological burden and an omen of good luck. Which is.. accurate, given what he's going to go through in this fic.
Ruoxing/Sektor. (🔨) Black vulture. So! Another bird that mates for life, and only takes another mate if their previous mate dies. When I say Sektor is ride or die for Cyrax, he is ride or die. Black vultures will also perform aerial displays to reinforce their bonds, and I don't know, I think it would be at least entertaining if Sektor did this. Also for thought: Cyrax and Sektor flying together.
Bi-Han. (🧊) Snow leopard. Like I said with Kuai Liang, it makes sense that he and his brother would be animals whose habitats are in the cold. Snow leopards are solitary animals, which I think fits Bi-Han's personality.
Johnny. (🌟) Red wolf. Native only to North Carolina, red wolves form close-knit packs. Which?? I'm thinking could apply to his relationship with Kenshi, Kung Lao, and Raiden as Liu Kang's champions.
Kenshi. (🌙) Honshū wolf. In one of their dialogues together, Kuai Liang tells Kenshi that he "protects his clan most fiercely," and Kenshi responds "like a lone wolf protects its cub." So I think a wolf makes sense for Kenshi, though a different species than Tomáš, even if that species is extinct.
Raiden. (⚡️) Japanese black bear. Now, Japanese black bears are usually shy and not usually aggressive, but they can be when protecting their young. And I think about what Raiden's anger can lead to— and the fact that Raiden, canonically, goes to Kuai Liang for help managing/taming that anger.
Kung Lao. (☀️) Pallas cat, a wild cat that is maybe the size of a large house cat. I don't have a lot of reasoning other than I think it is funny to think about Lao being surrounded by two wolves and a bear. He gets riding privileges. Pallas cats are also natural predators of birds, so I think it could make his dynamic with Sektor a little funnier.
OOO I'm really glad this relates to your fic, it's really interesting to see their personalities and backgrounds reflected on their animals, while also showing how they interact with other characters, your brain 🧘🏽.
I think they all make a lot of sense, especially Hanzo and Harumi as tigers (I'd love to draw something based on that idea), and Kenshi as a wolf taking care of his son is both endearing and very accurate imo (I like to think of Takeda as a fox, so technically still within the family canidae).
Also lmao at Lao being just a cat (a bald one at that /silly).
I'd love to spend some time researching the symbolism of certain animals in the characters' respective cultures and see which ones would fit as well. Overall I'm very curious about the concept of relating certain characteristics to those of an animal.
Following the same question but with the Kombat Kids (ft. Frost ofc), do you think they'd be something related to their families animals? :0
I feel like you can definitely tell when someone who's homophobic writes BL.
One of the boys, for some unexplainable reason, has to conform to the "female equivalent in the relationship" and it's all about misogyny once again. Or: where one of them has to be male centered, and is uncharacteristically promiscuous.
Or (worse): has some type of relation to sex work.
I've been noticing that pattern since I first started reading fanfiction, and to be fair, I don't understand why someone would even want to write about something they clearly don't like that much, or don't understand. I think it's also an age thing, but that's for a separate rant.
It's more apparent in certain fandoms than others, where I guess a majority of fans are clearly not queer themselves, but I can't help but be disappointed when it's done to canon queer characters with established personalities. It also tends to happen to POC characters, but again, that's a rant for another post.
I think it's kind of silly and stupid that there's a certain expectation for how queer characters behave and function, as if there's something oh so different and special about them. If the story they belong to is very deep and personal, then yes, I guess so, but if it's not, then I don't see the point in highlighting their queerness as if it's a third head.
There's a point where, depending on the genre, there is a certain culture that already exists for queer people (like it does in real life), but someone who is not queer themselves is very likely to not know about that and just go for the very stereotypical version of, in this case, a gay man.
I would like to add that, yes, there is a scene where gay males drink, and party, and take drugs, and are highly sexual, that is a drag queen, and I'm not seeing any of that being mentioned in any of these fictional scenarios. Considering that drag has been around for as long as it has, and how relevant it is for not only the queer but the POC community, you can definitely tell the person writing about all these topics can't be bothered to learn anything about queer culture at all.
Fanfics and BL in general would be very different if the people writing it were also gay men, or at least queer people.
Because why Laganja isn't at the same party as Jackson Wang, huh?
Of course, there's a lot of content created by and for queer people, and usually that content is very high quality (thanxx velinxi), but I'm referring to most fanfiction where there's still a misconception around queer men by non-queer creators, and how that's usually very easy to spot.
Thnxxx for coming to my ted talk.
when i was younger, i used to play mk at the same arcade almost every weekend, and my friend eventually asked why i keep choosing baraka even though i barely knew what i was doing and he's ugly as fuck. well.
I genuinely envy artists who know how to use that weird, four-five string brush, you know the one (?)
hey so remember when i said i haven't forgotten about this fandom
quiero decir que tus fanarts jinkeda son lo que me inspira todos los días a hacer el cabello de jin cada vez más largo lmao

The Lily in The Valley
first installment of my Sino-Japanese Sub-Zero Brothers AU, originally posted on ao3. These will be posted in chronological order, unlike my ao3 which is currently undergoing a lot of prequel fics to give context & worldbuilding.
this work includes blood and canon-typical violence, viewer discretion is advised.
“Xuan, come on… Rise and shine, sleepyhead. Oh, Xuan-er.”
His older sister Yu is rubbing his shoulder, trying to get him to wake up. Her brown eyes are warm, and she has not treated him different, even if his “gift” puts people off. Since their parents passing, Yu has been the one to take care of him, but she is no less firm about getting him to wake up in the morning.
“Ugh…” Xuan whines, turning on his side.
“Come on, or I'm going to eat all of your congee!”
“No!”
That finally gets him out of bed, and running towards the dining room. Thankfully, a hot bowl of thick congee—just the way he likes it— waits for him, untouched. Xuan takes the small victory and sits down to eat.

no but let me yap about Miguel O'hara real quick- WHY does this asshole think the whole multiverse revolves around Spider-Man? I know the MOVIES only focus on Spider-Man and none of the other Marvel heroes but like it surely can't be a universal constant that a universe revolves around one specific person. Really anybody with the means to interact with other universes should be able to create anomalies. Hell, Fisk even proved that by being the instigator for all the multiversal shenanigans that occur with our main characters.
The explanation that makes the most sense to me is that Miguel is, how do we say, not a particularly mentally sound individual? I don't mean to say I think he's mentally ill, and I don't want to make light of a topic I have no grounds to speak on, but I don't think Miguel is as rational and knowledgeable as he presents himself. I mean first of all he thinks its perfectly fine to go into another universe and assume the identity of another version of himself, doesn't have any qualms about stealing this man's life without any of his loved ones knowing it's not their Miguel, and then when that universe is destroyed because he assumed the identity of someone who already died, he comes to the conclusion that every single universe will fall apart if they don't follow pre-determined events. He doesn't consider that a universe could mold itself around changes, doesn't take into consideration that he has gathered hundreds of Spider-People who never would have met eachother into one universe that never would have hosted this many Spider-People and the arachno-humanoid-poly-multiverse isn't collapsing because of it-- No, he sticks to the explanations that he has come up with because he isn't an expert on the multiverse, he doesn't know how it really works or what really endangers it, he just made assumptions based on one example and took them as concrete fact. He doesn't consider that what happened to him may be an outlier and not the rule. Nobody can sit here and tell me that this is the reasoning of a man who is right to have complete command of the spider-force or whatevever its called i forgot (sorry i havent watched the movie in a while), who's judgement of who is an anomaly- a threat- is totally correct. I'll cut my rambling off here before I write an entire essay: All this to say, I think Miguel is an unstable man who's judgement is clouded and is NOT correct in beating a 15 year old for wanting his dad not to die. That's what I interpret from his characterization anyway.
TL:DR, i think Miguel O'hara is delulu and should be removed from his position of power
I'm glad someone is also pointing this out. I call this the MCU effect of "everything MUST revolve around this one character otherwise the whole movie will fall apart".
Aside from Miguel as a character, I'd like to point out how X-Men deals with the concept of multiple parallel timelines and actually takes into consideration every single element that can lead to different outcomes (which is the premise we get for all the atsv movies, don't fuck up certain events because it will cause irregularities). It's not just about one version of a character, it's the entirety of a very specific group of characters responsible for a very important event, therefore when a new timeline/dimension is created, they are all somehow connected by that one event, and whatever the outcome is, it leads to the variation that corresponds to said dimension.
Now, it's very hard to define what logic should be applied to the atsv movies because the MCU is very inconsistent in how things work, are anomalies actually a thing or is it just a concept that conveniently exists for a few specific movies ? We might never know.
So I agree that it is silly to focus on just the variations of one singular character (in this case Spiderman), while maybe the cause of these anomalies is the constant use of devices that break the dimensional tissue of each universe they travel to and not just one teenager trying to avoid a horrible fate, just saying. I'd also like to point out the fact that, honestly, Spiderman is not even that important of a character in the grand scheme of things when mutants like Xavier, Jean and Wanda exist, I genuinely believe things will be fine if one Spiderman avoids a canon event, maybe focus on the witch that can create alternate versions of her life.
Now, back to Miguel, I do think it is realistic that after gaining awareness of the existence of a multiverse he may have gone a little crazy, obsessing over that idea so much that leads to him taking many questionable decisions, aka yes, he is delulu and for some reason everyone is listening to him. But I guess it comes to show that protecting the multiverse is a job that should be given to someone who actually understands how it works and has the ability to protect it, not just some random dude, coughs.
