“Hope you fall on your ass, boy,” she said, folding her arms across her chest. “Stupidity only gets you so far.”

“I got this, I got this!” Fred exclaimed, lips forming a small ‘o’ as he used his arms to balance himself. “See!”
“Hope you fall on your ass, boy,” she said, folding her arms across her chest. “Stupidity only gets you so far.”
Before she even continued on with the rest of her statement, Sophie instead trailed off as she felt like there was no point in continuing. Honestly, the way she was feeling was ridiculous and a part of her didn’t want to burden Angel with it. But the other didn’t seem to mind rather she encouraged her to talk about it if she wanted to. “—Have you ever felt like you were inadequate? Like you can’t be more than what you are or what other people sees you as, even if you try your hardest to be different?”
The words she was saying resonated with Angel completely. That was a feeling she had known all too well, for her whole life. She sighed and flicked the cigarette to the ground, snuffing it out with the toe of her thick boot. “More than you can know,” she spoke, moving towards the empty swing next to her and taking a place there. “You wanna know somethin’? Whatever you feel-- it’s not true. We aren’t inadequate. No matter what anyone sees you as, you are always gonna be you, and that’s a good thing.” I think, was the words silently added to the end. While she was pretty good at her own advice, she seldom took it, and Angel herself still struggled greatly with coming to terms with everything that’s happened to her. But, she didn’t want to see Sophie sad, and she could empathize because she knew.
Though Louie liked to joke around, it didn’t mean he didn’t know when to be serious about something. “Yeah, that’s true. I didn’t really think about it that way, but you’re right. Plus, letting fear control you never really ends well.” If he learned anything from his comics and observing other people, it’s that. Letting fear control you, lead to making rash decisions or even potentially ruining something. “I’m almost scared to think about what that something bigger is,” he stuffed his hands in his pockets. “No, okay, I’m definitely scared.” he nodded and let out a weak smile.
Angel watched the boy with a neutral face, somehow agreeing with what he was saying. He was just trying to emulate something he liked, that wasn’t bad, right? They all did it. But, sometimes, people relied to heavily on fiction, it muddled their view of reality. And all Angel ever knew was the harsh truth that came with reality. “Yeah,” she agreed, with a small nod of her head. She shifted, sitting down on the nearest seat-- a bench, and looked down at her feet. “I’m scared, too,” she admitted, in a rasping voice. She never really did the emotion stuff, talking about it and whatnot, but the truth was... she was terrified. “We can’t leave fear control us, though, right? Yeah,” she said weakly, although she still couldn’t manage to look up.

Sophie didn’t mind the smoke. In any normal circumstances, she probably would have since she knows how bad for the lungs smoking can be. But during this specific moment, she couldn’t find it in herself to be bothered. The smoke honestly wasn’t all that bad, and she wasn’t inhaling that much of it anyways. Being asked if she wanted to talk about it, Sophie pressed her lips together. Should she? “It’s silly.” she began, shaking her head, causing more blonde strands to fall all around her face. “It’s probably something I shouldn’t even be feeling down about, but—”
By the time the girl began to talk, Angel listened, flicking the ashes of the cigarette onto the ground as she did so. Angel didn’t consider herself a good person, she had always been more keen to her flaws than her virtues, but she did like helping even if she was stubborn to admit it. “Hey,” she said, her voice low and raspy. “Your feelings are valid, y’know. It’s okay to feel down about whatever.”
Being the fact that it was already a bit late in the day, Sophie wasn’t expecting for anyone to overhear what she had just said. She had assumed that she was alone in the park, seeing how most choose to stay indoors after the events that occurred during the weekend. But of course, just like how the blonde herself was out and about, obviously a few others would still be as well. But that didn’t mean that Sophie was any less startled when she heard someone reply back to her comment. “Huh?” Turning, the girl soon found herself facing Nell’s newly adopted sister. She blinked, before letting out another sigh. “Nothing.” Sophie replied, shifting her gaze away to stare at the ground. “Everything actually. These past two weeks to be more specific.”
Angel kept her distance, putting the cigarette back in between her lips and taking a drag. The smoke bothered more people than it pleased, so she normally stayed away from others when she happened to have a lit one in her hand. She watched, seeing the thin cracks in the normally bubbly girl’s facade grow. “Do you want to talk about it?” She asked, although, personally, she hated it when people asked her that. Angel wasn’t very open about talking about her problems, but that didn’t mean Sophie wasn’t open either. It couldn’t hurt to ask. “If you don’t, s’okay. I get it.”
It was already a late afternoon when the blonde had found herself at the park once again. After fainting the week before and the events that went down during the weekend, Sophie hasn’t found to time to come back here. Yet, here she was now. Sitting against the seats of the swings, the blonde wasn’t even swinging on it rather, leaning half her weight against the chains. And despite that it wasn’t all that cold or chilly out, Sophie had on a thick baggy grey sweater that belonged to Jamie, with the hood on and over her head. Shaggy blonde strands of hair fell all around her face, somewhat concealing it with the help of her hood. With a small sigh, she closed her eyes. “So stupid.” she absentmindedly mumbled.
To say Angel was a little jealous was an understatement, but she was pretty good at not letting it take over her. And it wasn’t jealousy over Sophie, she hadn’t really ever spoken to her, but she had been nothing but nice, it was just the ever looming idea that Nell might find someone else to be a better little sister, and Sophie seemed to be the perfect candidate. Though, she didn’t expect to find her muttering self deprecating comments on a swing in the park. She watched, leaning against the pole. This was the spot where she normally hung out and smoked, a lit cigarette smoldering between her thumb and ring finger. “What is?” She asked, genuine, knowing full well the girl wasn’t expecting any company.
@dragonmaster: anybody in the mood for a hike?

Louie’s expression immediately softened. He could tell she wasn’t in a joking mood and with something as serious as this situation, he decided to tone it down. “True, they very well can be scared sometimes too. It’s extremely suspicious and weird. So weird, I don’t know exactly how to deal with it.”
She knew he was just dealing with it in his own way, like everyone else did, but when she was nervous, she took everything far too seriously. “It’s not about bein’ not scared, it’s about bein’ scared but not lettin’ it control you, you know?” She wasn’t sure why she was talking about this-- getting all sentimental with a near stranger, but the high tensions from the events of the last couple days made her hands shake and her breath catch. “I don’t either. It’s weird to think about. I feel like... somethin’ bigger is going on.”
“b-because i’m a sad person? i d-don’t know. sad facts are interesting, they sh-show the truth. happy f-facts are always harder to believe.”
“So? I’m a sad person, but I don’t gotta act sad all the time, you know? No. The truth is both happy and sad. Happy things-- I mean, shit, they’re rare for me-- but, happy things... happen. People smile, laugh, play, new friends, old friends, babies are born, someone gets a puppy, they aren’t hard to believe, are they?”
“oh that’s a relief! i was wondering if you could tell me some things about nell. like her childhood and stuff? i know things about evil witches, but nothing more than that.”
“I mean, they’re not my things to share. We had similar experiences, though. We grew up in foster homes. But, I can’t tell you things that Nell doesn’t feel comfortable telling people about, it’s not my place.”
“Traumatized people chronically feel unsafe inside their bodies: The past is alive in the form of gnawing interior discomfort. Their bodies are constantly bombarded by visceral warning signs, and, in an attempt to control these processes, they often become expert at ignoring their gut feelings and in numbing awareness of what is played out inside. They learn to hide from their selves.

“With all this weird stuff happening and murderer on the loose, I feel like I should be scared. But on the other hand, the people in my favorite comics wouldn’t be scared, so I feel like I shouldn’t.” he chuckled, but he definitely was alarmed by the situation going on, more confused than anything.
With a quirked brow, Angel’s expression was less than amused. “Seriously?” She asked, folding her arms across her chest. To say that she was anxious and on edge with this town was an understatement. “I mean, the characters can be scared sometimes, too,” she said, nonchalantly. “It’s suspicious, though, isn’t it?”

Make them cry
“I never loved you.”
“You’re the reason they’re dead!”
“It’s all your fault!”
“Who could ever love you…?”
“You’re so stupid. So weak.”
“Just go away. I don’t want you here.”
Blackmail them
“Who would’ve thought a sweet thing like you would have such a secret?”
“I’ll tell everyone. Scream so loud the country will hear.”
“I have a friend with a radio station, you know. Broadcast it all over the city.”
“If you want this back, you’ll do whatever I say!”
“Be a good little slave, you don’t want your secret out, do you?”
“I know everything. I can ruin you.”
“Beg me, and I might consider keeping my mouth shut.”
Interrogate them
“Sing, birdie.”
“I know exactly how to make you talk.”
“You know some fascinating things, don’t you?”
“I’ll use your greatest weaknesses against you, and you know I know them all.”
“I have means of extracting information from you.”
“I might play with you a little longer after you’ve talked. You’re too cute.”
“You’re tough. But I’ll break you.”
Yell at them
“You idiot! You dumbass! You- you fucking moron!”
“You’re absolutely useless, aren’t you?!”
“What the fuck have you done this time!”
“You don’t care about anyone but yourself!”
“You’re not human! You’re a monster!”
“You’re a disgusting little rat!”
“You’ve fucked up for the last time!”
Physically hurt them
“What, can’t take a punch?”
“I’ll kill you!”
“It’s only a scratch, asshole!”
“Don’t move, or I’ll shoot you!”
“I’ll slit your damn throat!”
“Kiss my shoes or I’ll stomp your head in half.”
“I didn’t mean to draw blood, but oh well.”
“That’s going to bruise.”
Torture them… gently
“You want some of this cake? C’moooon, beg for it!”
“Guess what? SURPRISE ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE!”
“Tickle-tickle-tickle! Kitchy kitchy koo!”
“Whaaaat? Is this yours? You can’t have it back, it’s mine now!”
“I’ll stop singing when hell freezes over!”
“Get in the locker, shorty!”
“Annoying? Me? Annoying?”
