Untitled BASTILLE 1984
BASTILLE is the pseudonym for the late artist Frank Webber (1929 – 1990). In the late fifties, Bastille worked as an illustrator for French fashion magazines, before he rose to fame with his homoerotic drawings. In 1983 he sent his boyfriend Nigel Kent a series of love letters in envelopes that he made into art. Today, these are part of the permanent collection at Tom of Finland Foundation.
