Saiibo Exchange
Hello! This is a story written for @saiiboexchange for @autistictenko !
I wrote a little fantasy AU, in which there are demons with magical powers and there are also humans with magical powers. Kiibo is a prince, while Shuichi happens to be one of those humans with magical powers.
I hope this is okay!
Kiibo knew he shouldn’t have gone out into the forest alone. It was the one thing his father, the king, always warned him about.
“Don’t go into the forest alone, son!” the King had said, a hand placed firmly on Kiibo’s shoulder. “There are evil monsters and cruel humans living in there. Don’t go in there unless I’m with you and we absolutely need to.”
He never had any intention of battling any monsters or coming into contact with the merciless humans who roamed the forests with a bloodied blade. He’d only come out for the delicious berries that grew around the outskirts, and to watch the beautiful butterflies floating around.
Coming into contact with an evil demon was not what he wanted to do today.
Kiibo felt his heart race as he gazed up at the demon, who was glaring down at with sharp and mischievous purple eyes. It almost looked human, with snow-white skin and a childlike look to him. However, the purple aura around him and the cruel grin on its face made it clear that this wasn’t a human.
“You’re the prince, aren’t you?” the demon giggled, “Oh boy! You would make an excellent trophy piece! I could show you off to all the other demons!”
Kiibo felt too stunned for words as he backed away, feeling his back hit a tree. However, just when the prince was about to say something, the demon interrupted him.
“Aww, scared of little ol’ me?” the demon blinked innocently before it’s face twisted into something so horrifyingly terrifying that would’ve caused even the strongest knight to scream in fear.
“You should be.”
Like a flash, the demon’s hands lit up with a corrupted glow, as the young prince flinched back in horror. This was it. Kiibo squeezed his eyes shut, trying to prepare himself for the blow.
“Get away from him!”
Kiibo felt his breath hitch as a new, unfamiliar voice yelled out into the clearing. Petrified with fear, the prince dared to open his eyes slightly, only to find a surprising sight.
There, standing in a protective stance in front of him, was a boy. He had pale skin and black hair, with sharp yellow eyes that glared angrily at the demon. Wrapped around his body loosely was a torn and ragged cape, made from matted wool and other cheap fabrics. Despite this, Kiibo couldn’t help but stare in awe at the boy.
“Oh?” the demon snickered, staring intently at the boy, “and who might you be?”
“My name is none of your business,” he growled angrily, taking another step forward, “This fight shouldn’t be any of my business either, but I can’t let a demon attack an innocent human like that!”
“And?” it cackled, “what are you going to do about it?”
For a few moments, there was silence, until Kiibo noticed a bright yellow glow emanating from the boy’s hands. Stunned at this sudden development, the demon blinked in surprise. “How…?”
“Do you not know?” the boy mocked, a triumphant grin on his face, “There are certain humans who are trained to dispose of demons like you. Guess who’s one of those humans?”
Suddenly, the boy released the ball of energy, hitting the demon square in the chest. It squawked in surprise, before stumbling back and fleeing into the forest, crying out all the while. For a moment, Kiibo felt guilty, until the boy finally turned to him.
“Hey…” the boy said gently, “are you okay?”
Kiibo’s eyes widened, and for a few moments, he sat there stammering, “I-I’m fine… but how did you…?”
“Oh, do you mean how I was able to generate energy?” the boy smiled, “as I said, I was trained how to do that in order to defeat demons like that one.”
“T-thank you…” Kiibo mumbled shyly, feeling an odd feeling bubble up in his chest. “I-I was always taught that people who could summon energy were bad, but…”
“Wait…” the boy furrowed his eyebrows, “are you apart of the royal family?”
Kiibo pursed his lips, before nodding hesitantly. “Yes… but how did you know?”
The boy smiled slightly, before gesturing to the emblem on Kiibo’s coat. “It says right there. Don’t worry, I don’t really mind if you’re apart of the family. Either way, you’re still human.”
There was another silence before Kiibo asked a question. “Um, so… what’s your name?”
“Did I not tell you? I must have forgotten,” the boy smiled, before extending a hand. “My name is Shuichi Saihara. You?”
Kiibo smiled, before reaching out to take Shuichi’s hand. “My name is Kiibo Iidabashi, the son of King Iidabashi. Nice to meet you!”
