County Arcades, Leeds
The Hepworth Wakefield. A total gem, well worth a visit (it's free) and they often have really interesting exhibits.
York Minster - York, UK
Spent the weekend in Newcastle. I appreciate it more every time I visit - the bridges on the Tyne set it apart from other Northern cities.

Checking in
It's been a while. Here's what's happened in the nearly-one-year since I've logged into tumblr:
• I married the man that I met as a 19-year old study abroad student. After five years of countless cross-Atlantic flights, Skype birthdays and holidays, so many tears and so much paperwork...we did the damn thing. IT CAN REALLY WORK, PEOPLE. Trust the timing of your life. If you want to make it work, it will work.
• I moved back to Leeds to live with said man (my husband, it still kind of seems surreal saying that). I'm becoming reacquainted with a city I never thought I'd live in again...but it keeps pulling me back. And I've never loved it more.
• I've settled into our cute flat in such a great area of Leeds, joined a truly engaging book club (which is so rare), and gotten a great job that takes me to Harrogate, one of my favorite places in Yorkshire, every day. I work in the same town as Bettys so I think I'm doing okay.
• For the first time, I feel like I'm living a really fulfilling adult life. I'm happy and independent and loving the freedom that comes with living in a new country. I feel lucky to have the chance to create a new life here.
It's just amazing to think that this blog started as a place for me to relate what was a once-in-a-lifetime experience studying in England. And now I'm an expat, making a life here. Life works in such funny ways.
We did it. Here's to forever.
Any successful international marriages out there?
In need of some encouragement.
Looking out over our kingdom.
I have a love affair with ancient abbeys.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park, one of the most underrated (FREE!) things to do on a day out. I loved it.
Victorian greenhouse vibes
Casual afternoon drinks in Leeds🍻
Our engagement photos were taken at Rievaulx Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales. HOW EPIC IS THIS?
The architecture in England is such a perfect mashup of old and new. A centuries-old Tudor style building can be sandwiched between newer structures (which are still older than anything we have in California).
Vintage books at the market.
