Origami Festival

Every year, California State University in Long Beach, CA hosts an origami festival in the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden located on campus. This poster illustrates an origami crane made out of patterned paper, whose flowers are growing off of the bird itself, becoming a real plant.

Based off of the original play The Bacchae by Euripides, Anne Carson’s Bakkhai is a story about the Greek god Dionysus inflicting madness upon a city’s population of women in order to exact revenge. This poster features the hand of a madwoman holding a torch, accompanied by a snake.

Vicious Zin is a red Zinfandel bottled in 2013 by Sobon Family Wines. The concept of the label is inspired by the Roman god of wine Bacchus, who was known to inflict frenzy upon helpless women in order to fuel his lust for battle.

The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary in Alexandria, Virginia was a long-time running medical shop until its close during the Great Depression. This logo marries a leaf, a potion bottle, and a flame to represent the strong ties to original Alchemy the museum still possesses.
