Origami Festival

Poster

Every year, California State University in Long Beach, CA hosts an origami festival in the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden located on campus. This poster illustrates an origami crane made out of patterned paper, whose flowers are growing off of the bird itself, becoming a real plant.

BAKKHAI

Poster

Based off of the original play The Bacchae by Euripides, Anne Carson’s Bakkhai is a story about the Greek god Dionysus inflicting madness upon a city’s population of women in order to exact revenge. This poster features the hand of a madwoman holding a torch, accompanied by a snake.

Poster

Ocean Conservancy fights to protect our oceans. This poster gets its message across by giving its audience a feeling of discomfort. While viewing this poster, we are forced to think about our personal actions which may eventually circulate back to us and cause harm.

The Museum of Death located in Los Angeles, CA has a variety of creepy, macabre exhibitions for you to enjoy, from serial killer memorabilia, to real animal taxidermy. The red tabs on this poster can be rotated in order reveal different skeletal outfits.

Vicious Zin: 2013 Red Zinfandel

Wine Label

Vicious Zin is a red Zinfandel bottled in 2013 by Sobon Family Wines. The concept of the label is inspired by the Roman god of wine Bacchus, who was known to inflict frenzy upon helpless women in order to fuel his lust for battle.

Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum

Logo

The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary in Alexandria, Virginia was a long-time running medical shop until its close during the Great Depression. This logo marries a leaf, a potion bottle, and a flame to represent the strong ties to original Alchemy the museum still possesses.

Bessie Smith, known as “Empress of the Blues,” was the most popular female blues singer from the 1920’s and 1930’s. This Rough Cuts guide illustrates the history of the influential singer’s childhood and explains how she rose to stardom.

Sakura: Cherry Blossoms as living Symbols of Friendship

In 2012, an exhibition honoring the friendship between Japan and the United States was on display for a short time period, featuring works centering around Japan’s gift to America: Cherry blossom trees, or

trees. The exhibition was held in Washington D.C., where 3,000 Sakura trees from Japan bloom every spring.
