Garden cottage Cross stitch

This is my first completed Cross Stitch Corner kit. It took me about 4 months to finish.

I totally fell in love with the watercolor look. It looks even better in the picture 🥰

A little review to the kit:

I buy kits from the cross stitch corner website for a couple of years, but I never before did one of their own brand kits.

The pattern is amazing and looks just like on the picture in the kit, even though that one is not a picture of an actual cross stitch but just pixel art, so I was a little bit afraid, that the colors wouldn't actually look good. But I was wrong, they look amazing 🤩

The thread is DMC and they even wrote the actual number next to the color. If you were to run out, you'd know which one to reorder. The thread never once ripped, which is amazing seeing as ...

The fabric was incredibly coarse and stiff as a board. Even after weeks of working with it, it didn't really soften any. But they have secured the edges, so it wouldn't lose threads, which is a huge plus.

The prize is amazing for such a huge and beautiful project. Definitely worth it.

Coming to my one big negative: the chart. For once, it is printed on glossy paper. Meaning, if you were to sit in the sun, or work under a light (Which you will most likely do during cross stitch) the glares are really bad😞. Next, the chart is printed on both sides of the glossy paper, meaning you have to keep turning it around and around once you reach the end of page one. Lastly, they used symbols within colored squares. The colors resemble the thread color, so a blue square on the chart means a blue cross. Not so bad at first glance, but as you might see, there are like a hundred different shades of blue in this and lots of them are nearly identical. No big deal, you might think. There is also a symbol. But several times, they used rather similar symbols in really similar colors. For example: both 1 and ! are light blue. p and q are azure and P and R are dark blue. Most of the time, those colors lie next to each other, too 😰

So yeah. Amazing pattern for an amazing prize using real great materials. But please someone. Do something about that chart. I have two more kits of that brand in my stash. Slightly worried for my eyes, but giddy to start on them one of these days 💙💙💙

Lillies of the valley and lilac Cross Stitch

Completed my latest cross stitch kit by Magic Needle in about 1 1/2 months.

I love lilac. The way it looks. The way it smells. It's such a shame, that it blooms for such a short time. Now I can look at it year round.🥰

Winter squirrel Cross Stitch

I got the pattern to this little cutie from Etsy. It's part of a set of four, I bought a little while ago, that I plan to make into pillows.

I love it's little sweater ♥️ All the backstitches we're somewhat tedious, but it was well worth it.

A Boy and his Snow Friend Cross Stitch

Completed this AVA Cross Stitch kit in close to two months.

I totally love the patchwork scarf, that adds so much life and color to the picture

It's my second Kit by AVA and I have to say, that I really like the quality of the floss. The charts are really great, too. But the thing, I don't like about this particular one, is that they use a colored chart, that uses the original colors. Meaning, that blue is depicted as blue and so on.

Now, as you can see, there are a lot of different shades of blue, that look pretty much alike. There are symbols additional to the volors of course, but quite a lot of those, are very similar, too. So If you read the chart, and both stitches are marked as blue, but one is S and one is § for example, things get confusing real fast.

Especially, when you are already tired or the light isn't optimal, it's difficult to make out.

Waxwing Cross stitch

A little cross stitch kit by Ariana to start my winter projects.

I finished this little cross stitch in just 10 days (in part due to me being sick at home😅).

I really liked the motiv, but I had to google the type of bird. In my language it's called Seidenschwanz (silk tail). Such a pretty bird🐦

Fair Cross stitch

Finished this cross stitch kit by Panna in two months.🤡

I bought it last year because I fell in love with all the details😍 Due to the lack of any more autumn projects this year, I decided to do it now and managed to finish in time with all the Christmas markets opening up soon.

It was my first kit by Panna and I really liked the fabric. The yarn was a bit tricky at times. The darker colors ripped rather easily and as you can see, there are a lot of them. But there was enough yarn included, that it didn't become a problem.

If I had a nickel for every time one of my old drawings ended up looking similar to a Kerby Rosanes picture, I had three nickels...

... Which isn't a lot, I guess🤨

So, I'm far from a professional artist, but I recently noticed this.

It's not that my drawings are awefully unique, but it's still kinda funny, that it happened thrice🤣

(For context: I posted my drawings at my deviantart gallery in 2010. The Kerby Rosanes Book is from 2017.)

I enjoy his books alot and I love coloring his amazing art.😍 It's kinda cool to imagine what my drawings could have looked like, If I had as much talent as Kerby Rosanes.

Strawberry milkshake Cross stitch

The strawberry milkshake design by Le petit croix de lucie is supposed to replace the ice cream cross stitch in our dining room. It took me three weeks to complete.😋

In order to make the future frame match with the other pictures in the room, I had to stitch this one on 7 stitches per cm cloth. The stitches are rather small because of that.

It's also the first time it happened to me, that a chart bought from a legitimate shop was incomplete. 😕 As nice as the design is, there were 4 half cross stitch colors and two backsitch colors simply missing. I had to eyeball the colors going by the picture on the first page. But I think, it turned out well regardles.🍓🐮

In the summer forest cross stitch

Took about 3 weeks to finish this cute little MP Studia Cross Stitch kit.

It's my last "summer" Cross Stitch for this year. It also kinda counts as an autumn piece I guess😅

I wanted to do another quick project because I went on vacation two weeks ago and wanted to take it with me, but a few days in I lost the needle😓 I could have probably finished it even sooner otherwise.

Now it will brighten up the guest room, once I got it framed 🐌🍄

Finished my first Cross Stitch kit by Ava Stitch in a little under a month.

I want to make a pillow out of this one.

I come from a city by the sea and such little huts are quite familiar to me. I also like the soft colors. 🥰⛵

Crochet seahorse

Just finished this - bigger than expected 😆 - seahorse. The patterns is by Natasha Tishchenko.

The original design has way more details, but I want to sell my new batch of Amigurumi at the schools Christmas Market this year, so as to not make them too expensive, I'll leave it at that.

I had to redo the tail 4 times!!! At last I ditched the pattern and just winged it. No idea if the pattern was wrong or why it just wouldn't line up properly but I'm happy with the final result.

The very hungry caterpillar

A colleague of mine asked me for a crochet Version of The very hungry caterpillar (Which in our language is called The little caterpillar Neverfull 😆) She apperently saw it on Pinterest.

As I agreed, I had no idea just how much that thing ate in the story. I read it years ago.

I used patterns by Lucia Förthmann. The sausage and pickle are deviated from the banana pattern.

For the body I just improvised. It looks a little like a fish 😆🤣

Poppy fairy Cross Stitch

The Poppy fairy Cross Stitch kit by RTO is done😁

Took me close to 7 weeks. I'm usually not a fairy fan (I'm more into dragons) but I fell in love with the design. Red is my favorite color. I love her butterfly wings 🦋 and the dress.

The poppies and cornflowers are amazing, too. I live in a small town surrounded by fields. Every summer, the wheatfields are sprinkled with colorful flowers. I love it😍
