I was looking to adopt older guinea pigs so I could give them a loving home to enjoy for the rest of their lives. Winnie (brown) and Frankie (white) have settled in beautifully and have quickly stolen my heart. They love their treats, look forward to their daily cuddles, and are thriving in their new home.

I’m so grateful to Animal Humane Society for giving them a safe and caring place to stay while they waited for their forever home. I’m so thankful they found their way to me, and I can’t imagine life without these two sweet girls. — Ella

My husband and I talked about adopting a cat for a while. My coworkers knew I was looking at cats, and one actually recommended Animal Humane Society’s Woodbury location to me! My husband and I went on a Saturday and looked at the cats. Marvin came up and sniffed our hands! In the room, he went and jumped up on my husband’s lap right away! He started purring, too. We knew right away he was coming home with us. He only hid from us the first day, but after that, he was out and about exploring his new home. He loves to cuddle with us! I’ll come home from work, sit on the couch, and he jumps up right away and purrs while he gets pets and kisses from me. He’s very social, and our friends like to play with him when they visit. He likes following people around the house. He’s a little shadow and must be part of the action. He loves taking naps in his cat tree, where he makes a perfect circle. He’s the sweetest cat. I’m so glad he’s my first pet ever! He’s the best cuddle bug :)

We adopted Mr. Meow (originally PigsEye) about a month ago. We had just recently lost one of our family cats and stopped by Animal Humane Society to look. The second day of looking we saw him again in his room meowing and we knew he was coming home with us.

Once we got him home, he warmed up very fast to us and our dog. He’s quite playful, loves to explore and is a cat that’s got a lot to say which we love. He is the perfect addition to our family and we are so thankful to get to love him and be loved by him.

Hi! I wanted to share an update on Lady, formerly Victoria, a Beagle from the Ridglan Farms case. Lady has officially been home for just a few days and has made incredible strides! Every day she seems a little braver and a little more confident.

She's discovered that couches are apparently the ideal location for naps, and she has started collecting and rearranging her stuffed animals into her bed so she can cuddle with them. Lady loves watching TV. We watched Lady and the Tramp on her first night home, and that's how we picked her new name. She seemed much more interested in watching that than Love Island USA (understandably so)!

She's eating like a champ, has picked up leash walking like an absolute superstar, and hasn't had a single accident in the house! She's been learning household routines so quickly and seems determined to figure out this whole "pet dog" thing.

With slow introductions, she's already made friends with some of the neighboring dogs, and she's become very curious about the humans in our apartment building too. She likes to carefully sniff everyone out and has quickly learned that many people are willing to provide pets on demand.

Watching her experience all these little joys and freedoms for the first time has been such a privilege. I knew adopting a research beagle would be rewarding, but I don't think I was prepared for just how much joy she would bring into my life in such a short time. I feel incredibly lucky to be her person!

After we had to say goodbye to our 14-year-old Schnauzer, Bono, and later lost my beloved Poodle, JJ, in Venezuela at the age of 14 as well, my heart was broken. They were much more than pets — they were my babies and a huge part of my life.

Even through all the sadness and grief, I found myself looking for a little bit of puppy love. When we visited Animal Humane Society, we met Willie, who is now Kylo. From the moment we met him, there was something special about him.

Kylo is the sweetest, most loving, and kind-hearted dog. He brought joy back into our lives when we needed it most. He is truly our rainbow dog— a beautiful reminder that love can find its way back to us, even after loss.

I lost my long-time cat daughter Sophie to a tumor, I had resigned myself to not have another pet. Friends convinced me otherwise and I stumbled into the Coon Rapid's Animal Humane Society to look at a specific cat I had seen online. Fortunately, Nura, now Sadie, allowed none of that as she repeatedly face-butted the plexiglass wall of her containment room to get my attention. I now have a cat who stares at herself in the mirror for hauntingly long periods of time and enjoys eating horse flies. She is amazing. Thank you so much for bringing us together. Rita and the staff at Coon Rapids Humane Society are exceptional.

We are both in graduate school, so we were unsure about getting a pet but went to look anyway. We came to Animal Humane Society originally for a different kitty, but as soon as he was placed in a room with us, we knew he was the one. He had to warm up to us once we got home and he hid for a couple days, but since then, he's been enjoying his days yelling at us at all hours, hiding his toys, and listening to the birds. He is not a lap kitty yet, unless we're sleeping and then he's on our heads, but he loves aggressive pets and will run to the door when we get. We are so glad he found his way to us and look forward to all the moments we have with our little man.

On April 10, 2026, I took a beautiful girl cat home. Her name was originally Coco Puff, but I decided to rename her to Nami! Nami has been the joy of my life since I adopted her. I was very lonely and she filled the void with everything I wanted and more.

She snuggles and sleeps with me every night, makes sure to wake me up when it’s breakfast time, talks with me, and endlessly rolls on her back to show me her soft belly. My baby sister and I love her like a daughter, and she’s brought so many laughs into our home. I’m so grateful that I stopped by Animal Humane Society in Woodbury after work on a random Thursday, because now I have a companion for life that’s everything I ever wanted in a furry friend. Thank you so much!

On May 2, 2026, a beautiful 4-month-old German Shepherd/Black lab mix named Arnold entered my life from Animal Humane Society in Woodbury, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Now named Byron, he was clearly well cared for in Woodbury, despite a short stay there, and has adapted to his new home very well. He is a complete lover to all (except rabbits/squirrels), and has gotten along well with other dogs and people. He came 100% healthy from AHS and cleared his first vet visit (provided by AHS) with flying colors. Not only is this route the most ethical, AHS also does an incredible job with simplifying the process for prospective owners. I can’t recommend it enough. Byron has been such a wonderful and needed addition to my life, and I think it’s safe to say we’re both grateful for being at AHS!

When I met Verde in the shelter, he’d been very scared and seemingly shy. He was curled up in the corner of his cage and would not come out. I spent 15 minutes with him and decided he was the one for me. (I have a soft spot for black cats!)

The first night, he warmed up to me and ended up lying next to me as I slept. It took a couple more days for him to become less scared, but as long as people he hadn’t met let him smell them, he warmed up to them as well. He’s now become quite adventurous, openly affectionate, and surprisingly vocal (especially at night). He’s such a vibrant personality and an amazing addition to our household. (He follows me around quite a bit particularly and gets along great with Frankie — who we call Kiki — who we adopted from AHS after Verde.) We love them both!

My daughters have been begging for a cat for forever. We searched Animal Humane Society's website for days and they fell in love with Daisy. We went to meet her and just couldn’t leave without her. She has settled into our family perfectly and now we can’t imagine a day without our sweet Daisy girl. I can’t wait to see my daughter’s friendship grow with their beloved kitty throughout the years!

I adopted Nellie (formerly Canela) back in February, and she is the best thing that has happened to me. She is so sweet and loving, bringing so much happiness to my family. I then adopted her sister, Rue (formerly Noah from Animal Humane Society’s Woodbury adoption center), in the beginning of May. They are now the best of friends and spend all day playing and napping together! — Delaney

We saw Bruce at Animal Humane Society and fell in love with him. He was apprehensive at first but started to warm up to his. We adopted him on May 5 and things couldn't be better. He is a gentle and sweet dog and has settled into his new home.

After the loss of our sweet Gracie, who was adopted from the Animal Humane Society in 2013, we started looking at fur babies in January. Laffy adopted us on February 5th, 2026. LOL We’re so thrilled to let you know that she’s doing wonderfully and has truly become a beloved part of our family. She loves to lie in our lap and snuggle in bed at night. She is such a sweet girl who loves her walks, belly rubs, and playing with her toys. She brings so much joy to our lives. We are excited to take Laffy camping with us this summer.

We adopted Lucky and Cita together (we shortened her name from Mamacita). He's a big sturdy young fellow brimming with energy and mischief. She's a petite quiet girl who mostly likes gazing out the window at wildlife or curling up in a lap. They instantly seemed at home in our house and quickly found favorite places and toys. We've had them now for two months and they fit in so smoothly it feels like they've always been here and we love them both! ❤️❤️

I went into Animal Humane Society on a gut feeling on a random Wednesday in late February and ended up finding the sweetest boy ever. Jack, now known as Stewie, was a timid, shut-down, scared dog.

When meeting him I was so unsure due to how shut-down he truly was. My mom and sister came with me and told me out of all the dogs I saw that day that Stew was the one for me. I am not going to lie I was very apprehensive going there and bringing him home, but as soon as I grabbed his leash to go he b-lined for the door and went straight to my car. I brought him home and with in a half hour he was on top of me all cuddled up and at peace.

He is now the happiest boy and loves his life. He loves to chase his tail, loves long walks, and chewing up any toy he can! I truly feel like I won the puppy lottery with him. I honestly realized that we both needed each other and we are better together. He is the most awkward, sweet, crazy, loving boy! I am so thankful to have acted on my gut feeling that day!
