Solidarity for the homeless!!!

A building has been occupied by 20 homeless people in the next town over from me and they are attempting to establish a permanent squat. Properties shouldn’t be standing vacant when we have people freezing to death on the streets. A few comrades of mine have set up a donation page for supplies for the 20 people occupying the squat, Ive already donated £20 but please if you can donate anything please do. I joined a union.

I highly encourage all of you beautiful people to organise and join unions . Together we can hold the bosses feet to the fire.

I’ve been underpaid for the best part of two years. It’s only retail work but the company I work for are so unreasonable that they keep loosing staff and managers and I’m the only one dumb enough to stay. I’ve effectively been running the store off and on for two years. The paperwork for my initial promotion didn’t go through and as a result I’ve been paid minimum wage for 2 years. The union will be helping me force the back pay out of them.

Automation

I’m currently reading though Aaron Bastani’s new book “ fully automated luxury communism”. Honestly I’m finding it quite inspirational and fills me with some confidence and hope .... something I’ve been lacking lately.

It has however reaffirmed just how terrifying automation can be if not handled properly and for the benefit of mankind.

If we allow the capitalist to fully automate before we seize the means of production , we - the working class - will be unnecessary and what the ruling classes will want to do with a group of inconvenient and unnecessary people doesn’t bare thinking about. So far we’ve been able to make advancements through striking and protest because we were needed ...

On a more hopeful note if the means of production could be seized and automated and all humanity could benefit from this, think of the world we could create; people with the free time and economic freedom to follow their passions , more doctors, artists , musicians, academics , scientists and more. A scarcity free society is possible but it is dependant -as it always has been- on who controls the means of production.
