Squall is just being a mega jerk (though kind of unintentionally. Somewhat intentionally) because of major trauma he went through in his life. Though Rinoa doesn’t really know that.

Edit: I realized I should better explain what’s going on with Squall and Rinoa. He’s just been promoted as Commander of the mercenary organization he grew up in, so his friends decided to throw him a party to celebrate that fact. And Rinoa is telling Squall that she–and their fellow friends–knows that that’ll be hard for him, and he’ll probably have all these hurdles he has to overcome, but to not try to do everything himself and to lean on them if he needs them. And Squall is basically like, “That’s great… can I go now?” And it’s because the entire time, he was thinking how he can’t let people in, because they just leave you in the end and that just hurts you more (that’s the aforementioned trauma), and that’s when Rinoa rightfully gets so angry at him.
