If radio wasn't loaded with ads for the dumbest shit possible, I'd prefer radio to everything else.
I'm going to use this as a jumping off point to mention the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act.
It's... pretty much what it says on the tin. Some car manufacturers are phasing out AM Radio from their cars so they can replace them with their own streaming services - this bill seeks to make them a mandatory feature.
As somebody whose day job is in radio, I totally agree that the amount of ads and the quality of the ads is ridiculous. Personally, I don't find radio to be an amazing source of political news broadcasting.
But do you know what it is really good at? Providing emergency broadcasts during extreme weather events.
When power and internet is down, radio can be one of the only sources of information, and it's helped provide lifesaving information during these times.
(Plus, at least in my area of the country, emergency weather alerts override and interrupt programming when broadcast - even during pesky ads!)
So if you want to toss your signature in support, you can head on over here.
I want to make it clear I'm not an expert in this legislation or anything - this is just the stuff I know through working in the industry.
AM radio can be one of the only available and reliable sources of local/regional news, weather and traffic, emergency or not. Not to mention community broadcasts.
(Plus, have you listened to any podcasts lately? It’s literally six minutes of ads on either end)
Also you can build an AM radio receiver out of little more than scrap. Are you going to? No, almost certainly not, but the point is that the technology is simple, cheap, robust and repairable.
The things I tend to go with for Meng Shi's human, non angelic traits are:
"No. Go study. You want to do this for the rest of your life? No? Then go study. Oh you finished? Is it memorized? Can you say it backwards? Can you explain every bit of it to me? No? Go. Study." When she finds Meng Yao goofing off. However I think this inculcation of an insane work ethic is tempered by her asking him to tell her all about what he has learned in detail and asking interested questions and being very proud and happy to listen, and a "that's ok, you'll get it next time (which is why you must always be studying) attitude." Because her son is driven but he's not Jiang Cheng.
Superiority as a reaction to her situation. She IS different than the rest of them. She IS better. She does NOT belong here. Her son IS special and he WILL have a good life. This is a response to both the awful dehumanizing grind of being a brothel worker in an indentured servitude situation and in response to the other workers excluding her. It also makes the second problem worse.
She almost never actually allows herself to be mad but when she does she gets so mean. She could win the mean Olympics. Just the most cutting, spiteful, and deeply personal insults you have ever heard. Again this almost never happens, because she tries very hard to not be mad. But when it does. But it was never turned on Meng Yao.
Where Do We Think Meng Yao Learned That Loving People Means You Hide The Severity Of Your Situation From Them. Hmmmmmm. (Though again. He is 13 when she dies. So hiding the severity of things from him makes sense to a degree)
There's also a lot that's not even personal it's situational, and was her best choice in the situation probably. Like I'm sure she did lots of things that were very bad for herself in order to be able to keep her kid, and keep him in books. She doesn't seem to have provided any alternative to the compulsive people pleasing he was learning in the brothel. They definitely had a level of emotional codependency but if no one else would befriend or care about either one of them, idk that that's avoidable. He winds up caring for her when she's sick in ways a middle schooler shouldn't have to but again, I don't see how she could have avoided that with no money and no support system.
So those are my hcs. Yeah.
gamers aren’t so much a sub culture as they are a group of people that marketers were able to create so they could sell more expensive toys
Which subcultures weren’t invented by marketers though

Every morning, the queen asked her magic mirror to show her the most beautiful person in the world.
The mirror replied "To whom?"
"The miller who made the flour for my bread," the queen would say, or "Whoever spun the thread my shawl was made of".
The mirror would show her, and she'd be amazed.
The first time, she says "To me," and the mirror dutifully shows her her reflection. And she is pleased.
The second time, she says "To the King," and she is pleased to see herself once more.
The third time, she says "To the Royal Advisor," and is once more satisfied to see herself.
The fourth time, she says "To the scribe who takes the King's letters." She is shown the man's wife. And she seethes, but quiets herself, for it is only right that a man loves his wife.
The fifth time, she says "To the Court Wizard," and is shown the man's departed mother as he remembers her from his youth, radiant and smiling and warm and larger than life.
The tenth time, she says "To the Stable Master," and is shown the fastest horse in the stable, majestic and free as the wind even in captivity
"To the baker," she is shown the man's daughter, young and adorable and full of joy and laughter.
"To the artist who did my portrait," she is shown a painting of a woman done by the man's teacher, who he still looks up to now that he is well established himself.
"To the Royal Knight," she is surprised but not displeased to see the castle's entire guard force in the middle of doing drills.
The one hundredth time she asks the mirror, and it asks her "to whom?" she once again says, "To me." And she does the same the one hundred and second, and again and again and again.
It is a different person each time, and they are all beautiful.

[The Seven Great Mysteries of Cang Qiong Mountain Sect] 2. Demonic whispers in Qing Jing Peak

Love this art ❤️
Error system.
Shang Qinghua is such a mood in this drawing. This is my biggest piece I’ve made these past day. Honestly if I do color environments, there must be saturated colors or else it’s too boring for me to do it.
Sometimes I feel like my 18 y.o self. Because it’s summer and I am sad. A lot of different applications I’ve made has been rejected. And it’s hard not to feel unmotivated. Connecting with people can be hard too.
But then I remember I’m not eighteen anymore. I have a lots of ressources and my life is a lot brighter than before. So I will take my eighteen year old self’s hand and tell them
« You ´ll be okay »
Flowers of love.
