    she hadn’t meant to upset him, and seeing him leave with such an excuse almost made her feel guilty. she’d always had a soft heart and personality– it was just the way she was. as much as people tried to knock it out of her in the academy, she’d kept it regardless. she would never try to trick gavin, though. though the rest of the precinct might have considered him just equipment for them to use, she considered him a coworker.

      jan let gavin go on his own, even if just to spend a couple minutes finishing her donut and coffee before following him quietly. catching up with him didn’t take long, nor did shutting the door quietly behind her enough to lean against it to at least give him some space if needed, her eyes trained on the cats all the while. “….i’m sorry if i upset you. but i still stand by my statement.”

     she had to have known more than she let on. certainly had to. gavin had to thank her in his own way when he had the chance for not turning him in if she truly had good intentions. gavin held spot close when he got in the room, heaving a sigh of frustration as he attempted to pick a course of action.

     a few minutes later he did have a plan. if she was going to report him, he could easily overpower her enough to not critically injure but give himself enough time to bolt and try to find jericho. he spoke quietly, eyes still on spot as she purred and rubbed against him.

     “if any of them find out, it’s over for me. i. . . appreciate your sentiment, but they smell blood in the water and they’re close to finding out i’m deviant.” and with that deviant hunter? christ, gavin was walking on egg shells whenever he was near.
