I’ve never really thought about this until now but I realize that I have a physical disability. I have strabismus, which is an eye turn. I don’t know the exact cause; it could be a muscle problem a nerve problem or a problem with the brain itself. But it affects my life to a great extent. I can’t see properly. I have no depth perception and get headaches all the time due to eye strain. It affects my self esteem. I feel stupid and ugly. I can’t look people in the eyes because I cannot focus my eyes. The vision in my right eye has deteriorated to the point of possible blindness. I have terrible peripheral vision. I can’t see in the distance as everything blurs and is confusing. And I just tell myself that I’m being stupid because it’s not a huge problem but it really is. Sometimes I just start crying with frustration at not being able to see. The amount of times I’ve wanted to rip my eye out are too many to count. I just needed to get this off my chest. Lately I’ve been feeling terrible because of it.
