do you use normal scene titles? Like “scene 1″ or “death scene” or something rational? because all my scene titles are things like “take a breath, things are about to get So Much Worse” and “HNNNNGH I NEED TO REWRITE THIS SCENE SO BAD”

To the man who sent me on my first adventures and gave me my love of reading. Who built a world I could run to when I needed a safe place to escape. That helped me understand as I was growing up that yes things were hard but if you keep your head up you’ll get through it. No matter if you believe your life has no meaning it means something to someone and you can make a difference. the roommate, a video editor, also working at her desk: ... hey friendo. u ok?

me: do you ever look at a 7000 word chapter and tell yourself "self, if you cut that chapter down to 5000 words, it will be so much stronger." and then, at the end of the day... you've got a chapter that's 7900 words long?

the roommate: Yes and no. I sometimes have a video that's 7 minutes long, that should be 5 minutes long, and then, at the end of the day, it's NINE minutes long, and I have to send it to the client anyway, like "here is the list of things you want in your five minute video..... it is too many things."

me: yes! exactly that! but imagine! the client... is YOU..... and you are the WORST CLIENT IN EXISTENCE.

two essential skills for artists

“good enough” and “fuck it”

“good enough” is when you are working on something and are happy with most of it but can live with a few imperfections, useful when needing to move on from sketch to inking/coloring or what have you.

“fuck it” is when you absolutely hate what you’re doing every step of the way but you post it anyways, very useful during art blocks.

both are useful to help you move on and not obsess over making it perfect, because art is anything but perfect, even photo realistic artists probably see imperfections that someone else might not catch

these can also be applied to other things in life
