On the Arcachon bay, you can fin the see and experience how people are still making oysters today.
Located only about an hour drive time from the charming City of Bordeaux, the Arcachon Bay is the perfect place to take a vacation - and to feast on lots of fabulous oysters and other seafood.
Best spots to eat oysters :
- Village de l’Herbe : located on the Cap ferret peninsula, it is the cutest little oyster village with many tasting spots.
My favorite is Emile et une huître, 76 Avenue de l'Herbe, 33950 Lège-Cap-Ferret, France.
- Village du Canon : near l’Herbe, you can take a boat from Arcachon to reach this cute village (around 45 minutes by boat, only during july and august).
- Village de La Teste : the closest oyster port from Arcachon. A few nice spots there, as well as many animations during summer time (mardinades every tuesday for instance).
- Larros : this port is part of Gujan. Nice oysters spots but also offer some real restaurant on the port if you prefer a more classic setting.
My recommendation : restaurant Les pavois , excellent food and service.
Tempelhof on Flickr.
Famous as the lifeline for West Berlin during the cold war, Tempelhof’s airfield had become the German capital’s biggest park. Since it was turned over to the public in May 2010, the site has been immensely popular with families, joggers, rollerbladers, kite-flyers, wind-karters, urban gardeners, yoga enthusiasts, hipsters and layabouts; smoke rises in summer from the abundance of barbecues.
The old airport buildings are now used as offices by companies, or to host events such as music festivals.
It is possible to visit the main building including the old airport hall. During the visit, they will explain to you the rich history of this airport.
