gonna do another daily drawing challenge this year!! i feel like i improved a lot when i did the 365 day challenge over 2014-2015 - gonna aim for 100 this time and START 2019 OFF STRONG (bc i haven't drawn in 100 years and boy am i inhumanly rusty)
i’ll be updating more frequently on twitter and instagram!
get the feeling that if anyone knows guild wars 2 solely through my art posts they'd think the game is entirely background species/ambient creatures haha GUESS I'LL CONTINUE THAT TREND...
anyway i love how diverse all the krait designs are!
ever since I came home a few weeks ago to visit - sadly going back to toronto in a few days..! :( - I've kind of been going through an awakening of sorts to my priorities in life and it's simultaneously nervewracking and empowering haha
anyway, just something to loosen up a bit
I've been fairly unproductive lately since I'm visiting home at the moment, but here are some older sketches & ballpoint life drawings! (possibly NSFW, nudity)
(ohhh geez i’m so sorry i took so long to get back to these, i had this sitting in my drafts and just.. forgot to post it...)
thank you! style is kind of a weird thing; as many people will tell you, it’s not something you can really force and it’s best to let it develop naturally - and it will! surround yourself with work you enjoy from various artists of any discipline (not even just visual art) and keep at it and you’ll end up with something completely unique to you :) (as many people will also say of their own work, i honestly don’t think i really have a recognisable style haha, especially in my illustrations..!)
thank you!! <3 <3
ahh thank you so much!! hearing that i could inspire you makes my day really motivates me to keep going :) all the best!
hi! thank you so much! i think in general you might find it easier to get responses to these sorts of questions off-anon, but i don’t mind sharing (and i always enjoy the chance to reminisce haha)
thinking back, i think my main interests & hobbies revolve around creating and problem solving? i’ll put it under a cut since it’s kinda tl;dr
i loved creating both 2D and 3D things: drawing obviously, but i’d have these wild ideas about creating 3D things from scratch out of cardboard (an R2-D2 shaped organiser, little storage boxes, a Lord of the Rings board game, another 3D board game with little mountain and moss tiles, etc - all these were when i was ~8-11 yo) or fabric (sewing plushies from my own templates, knitting, etc). i also wrote a lot of short stories and poems, baked a lot, and played a few instruments. apart from being a state finalist of some ~Write Around Australia~ competition for a (pretty terrible) short story i wrote, i wasn’t ever great at any of those things sdkfjl
as for problem solving, i’ve always enjoyed programming! i dabbled in HTML when i read those neopets guides haha, but also when i was 10 i remember doing some rudimentary stuff in this program called MicroWorlds where i was adamant about making a horse image move across the screen but also swap between the different run cycle images (so i guess it was like programming + animating in one haha, though i had no idea at the time). in uni, when i was considering majoring in bioengineering, i did more programming, but only in pretty useless languages. i also really liked the morphology & syntax linguistics breadth subjects i did in uni ‘cause they were also like problem solving i guess?
in general i was lot more interested in toy/RC cars, dinosaurs, building blocks etc, and i absolutely hated dolls and the colour pink lmao. so i guess back then in the 90s i would’ve been considered a ~tomboy~ but i also had a horse phase so y’know
also love love love travel since i was super fortunate that my family did it so much
sidenote: here’s a project i did on animation when i was 11 and had no real idea what i was talking about, please do not judge me too harshly
