You woke up with a sharp gasp, sitting up almost instantly while your heart was pounding. For a moment, you couldn’t tell what was real - the dream repeated itself in your head. Your hands tremble as your grip on the blanket tightened, trying to steady your breathing.
You didn’t mean to make noise…but shoto heard you.
“Oh Shoto i didn’t mean to-“
“You had a bad dream didn’t you?” his voice gentle, sleepy, but filled with concern.
you nodded unable to speak for a moment. Shoto sat up, then looked at you.
“sorry, i didn’t mean to wake you..”
his expression softened, and he shook his head.
“don’t apologize y/n, your shaking.”
he cupped her cheek, thumb brushing under your eye
“come here.” he murmured, gently pulling you to his chest, like he wanted to shield you from whatever had scared you.
you pressed your forehead against his collarbone, taking in his scent as your fear gradually fades. Shoto rubs your back in slow, soothing, circles, trying to ease you.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
you shook your head against him “no… just didn’t feel real for a second..”
he nodded understandingly, and kisses the top of your head “your safe, i’m right here, no nightmares are coming anymore.”
your breath finally steadies, and the fear melts away completely under the warmth of his voice. he pulls the blanket more comfortably over you both.
“i love you.” he murmured sleepily as he drifts off to sleep.
“i love you too.” you say, finally difting off to sleep as well.
