qxxleguen:
That was a good outlook, Quinci could only nod his head agree. “This is true, we have a few at the shelter who we let out to roam and have fun but it’s not that hard to get a cat on a leash. You just have to start when they’re kittens and get them used too it. Once they reach adult-hood, it’s more unlikely.” At the mention of bringing the pets in, he could only smile. “As long as the owner approves.” With that, he turned and went out, motioning for the animals to follow him inside. Once all three were in, Quinci pointed to a corner. “Sit.” They all followed perfectly, the dogs panting a little. “This Daisy, Nox & Tiger. These three are some of my favorites at the shelter, very well mannered so they’re normally allowed to roam around the shelter off the leash.”
“Would they like some water with the whipped cream?” Annick asked, smiling brightly as the animals trotted over to the counter. “Oh you volunteer there? The shelter, I mean?” Annick set his hot chocolate on the counter as well as the cups of whipped cream. “They are super well behaved. I’m going to say that’s thanks to you, huh?”
rory-of-nantes:
“Tea? How could I say no to a nice cup of tea?” Rory would never turn down the offer for some tea. It was their favorite drink besides water; and since they couldn’t really handle caffeine with their heart, it was nice knowing there were so many lovely caffeine-free teas to choose from. “May I get a large cup of black currant hibiscus?” They asked, fumbling over the floral name but not particularly caring as they knew Annick wasn’t one to judge. “And just some water for Pilot, please.”
“You got it, doll,” Annick said, easily making out what Rory asked for. “Why don’t you find a seat and I’ll bring both out to you.” She smiled and busied herself behind the counter. Grateful to be busy and to have a friendly face to spend some time with. “I’ll grab myself something and sit with you a moment if you don’t mind.”
Cyrus took a breath and looked across the street at Brainwash. He missed Annick like he was walking around with his heart external to his body. He had ended relationships before and even a near engagement. Nothing had hurt like this, nothing had left him numb like this and worst of all, he knew it was his own ghosts that had caused the rush of paranoia that led to this break between them. Childish ghosts and inadequacies that he thought he had wrestled to the ground many years ago. Taking a deep breath, he crossed the road and pushed open the door, mere minutes before closing.
Annick was tired. Had been tired. Sleep no longer came easily and the days dragged like they’d never dragged before. She knew why but refused to acknowledge it. Not out loud. Missing Cyrus was something she did in private. At home tucked in a pile of blankets she stared out the window of her flat while sleep stayed a fond, distant memory. The evening had been slow and she’d already sent most of her employees home, save for a couple that were currently cleaning up. The tinkle of the bell signaling someone coming in drew a sigh from her. “What can I...” Her words trailed off as she raised her head and caught sight of who had walked through the door. She cleared her throat and pretended the sight of him didn’t break her heart all over again. “What can I get you?”

Rory watched as Annick used the counter for support as she stood up. Their eyes trailed to the other submissive’s lips; and a small smile curled at the corners of their mouth as the other reassured them she was okay. “I’m the type to trip over nothing and choke on air; so know I very much feel your pain.” They commented with a small shrug of the shoulders. Readjusting their grip on Pilot’s leash, the brunette took a few steps towards the counter, eyes still watching Annick’s lips. “Um, you asked how I was?” They confirmed before answering the inquiry. “I’m doing well. In the market for a new read. I’ve kinda blown through my entire backlog these past few months.” Thanks to having turned into a little bit of a recluse after the whole kidnapping, Rory had plenty of time to dedicate to reading.
Nick nodded, affirming that she’d asked how the other submissive how was. Now back on her feet and less discombobulated, Annick was able to concentrate on the conversation and making sure Rory could understand her. “I’m glad to hear it...that you are well, not that you have blown through your stash. Though I suppose that’s good for me,” Nick chuckled. “So before you make your way to the stacks would you like some tea? Something for Pilot?”
qxxleguen:
“Ah…hurt pride, nothing you won’t be able to bounce back from. Considered the matter forgotten.” He’d feel the same if he found himself in her shoes. Then he’d milk it for all it was worth. Quinci nodded his head, turning to point a bit. “Three good boys are waiting out there.” And the fact that he had heard no barking, that was a good thing. “In fact, double the whip cream.” And now, he just found himself spoiling them. “Would you be interested to know, that it’s two dogs and cat, he likes going walks as well.”
“Certainly have done it many times before.” Nick started preparing the order as he talked. “Oh now that is interesting. I’ve never known a cat that was terribly happy to be restrained. If they are all as good as you say, then you should bring them in for their treat. I’m the owner, so I can say that with confidence,” Nick smiled, finishing his hot chocolate.
rory-of-nantes:
Having finished their current reading list, Rory was yet again in the market for something new. Of course they could always reread a favorite for the umpteenth time; but they didn’t feel like it, hence why they found themselves in their favorite bookshop/café in all Vannes. With Pilot in tow, the submissive pushed open the front door to Brainwash, scanning the vicinity but not immediately spotting the owner. It wasn’t until they felt strong vibrations and their gaze shifted towards the counter that they spotted Annick. “A-Are you okay?” Even though they hadn’t seen it happen, the brunette was able to piece together that the other submissive must’ve slipped and fallen. And as a natural-born klutz, they knew just how much that could hurt.
Annick nodded, recognizing Rory. At least it was someone she knew, if not intimately. Always easier to damage your pride in front of a friendly face. “I’m okay,” she said, bracing herself on the counter and getting to her feet. “Just a day in the life. How are you? It’s good to see you, despite my public shame.”
duchess-anna-ofanjou:
Anna was just about to speak when she saw Annick go down. Gasping, she quickly joined her behind the counter. Not only was she a duchess, but she was a friend, so she thought she could get away with it. “Are you okay? I know you’re probably excited to see me but really, there’s no need to fall head over heels.” She reached out a hand, ready to help the other woman up.
“Ha. You’re a laugh riot, your Grace,” Nick said, rolling her eyes at the younger woman. “I’m fine.” Nick reached for the offered hand and placed her other on the counter, standing after a second. “Pride goeth before a fall, huh? Thanks.”
qxxleguen:
“I’ll be right back.” Quinci gave the pups and lone cat a final look before he walked into Brainwash. Everyone had been good today and they deserved a little treat. What he didn’t expect to see was a small accident occur. “No need to worry about me, are you alright?” It not only sounded painful but it looked painful as well. Still, was he wasn’t sure if she was fully alright.
“Whenever you’re ready, I just wanted a hot chocolate and three cups of whip cream if you don’t mind.”
“Yeah. Hurt my pride more than anything,” Nick chuckled before dusting herself off and standing. “Hot Chocolate and three whipped cream. Got it...you have animals with you, I assume?” Nick asked, smiling widely and not too embarrassed.
Hearing the bell signal someone opening the door to Brainwash, Annick let out a sigh and moved quickly from the back room to the counter not noticing that the floor was still wet from the mopping it had gotten before she’d opened the store. Hitting a slick patch, she fell directly on to her ass with a loud curse. Face bright with embarrassment, she peaked over the counter as she tried to stand. Really universe?
“Uh, can I help you?”
anjoudaehyun:
Dae’s face brightened when he spotted Annick , a familiar face at these sorts of events was always a blessing and more so when it was a friendly one.
Though her words gave him a pause, “I guess it shows this isn’t exactly my cup of tea.” He laughed softly with a matching shrug. “What’s gotten you in such a mood though?”
Annick hadn’t exactly taken out a banner advertising her break up with Cyrus. It was something she’d mostly kept to herself and her plants. If anyone noticed that she’d been quieter than usual, less likely to greet her customers with a buoyant smile, then no one had said anything. Which was fine by her.
“Oh, well. Um. I’m here alone.” Nick looked down at her wine glass for a moment before meeting Dae’s eyes again. “First event single again. Not the most fun, I guess.”
@anjoudaehyun
Annick wasn’t sure why she’d attended this affair. Actually, she did. It was for her House. She’d do anything for them. Including attending a function where she was bound to see Cyrus, probably enjoying himself. Swell.
Trying to make the best of it, she grabbed a glass of wine and headed for a less occupied space. Fortunately, where she landed was at least occupied with a friendly face.
“Finally, someone who looks as happy to be here as I am.”
