Uhuhuhu I'm really sorry my readers. I feel like I'm betraying you everyday. I know I haven't updated my latest work, and I was supposed to make a tiktok post about it, but here nalang.

So you know what's happening in the Senate, diba?

So the thing is, I've prepared the outline of The Capturers last year pa. the main settings will be the Philippine Senate in the New Senate Building (which will complete in 2027, and the story happens in 2031 or something), because Miong is the Senate President.

So ganun yung settings, mga mih. The other settings are 1) The Katipunan in the mountains 2) Drug trades in manila docks 3) Rizal Estate dealing with the corrupt richest families in the country.

What's the point of making a novel as means to escape when it's basically our reality now???

I'm also threading a divinely comedic positon here kase I was gonna go all out on the political issues, and these were all my ORIGINAL ideas! They were supposed to be! Politics is Meant To Be Boring

Have you ever wondered why your celebrity obsessed DDS cousins and friends who never cared about politics before, suddenly only post about politics in their feeds? Well, that's because they still only care about the same thing: Celebrities.

No, they don't care about politics. They don't care about the laws. They don't care about their rights being taken. They don't care about the farmers, teachers, healthcare, and public transportation. They don't care about the future of our children. And most importantly, they don't care about researching what's truly happening.

They only care about the personality who's putting on a great show. This personality just happens to be a politician.

And now, they're into deep. They cannot escape the echo chambers they've entered. They will only ever consume scraps of positive information about their celebrity bias, just like how we collected paraphernalia of our Kpop biases when we were in high school.

It's insulting that our country will fall because people cannot separate fandom behavior to our more serious matters like politics and economics. My dear countrymen, politics is supposed to be boring. It's supposed to be filled with people who are doing what they are supposed to do without fanfare. We are supposed to scroll away from political news because it's not as stimulating as the latest celebrity scandals. They're not supposed to make a big deal about staying in their positions, because democratic positions are meant to be passed around. They're supposed to do the boring democratic talks about the economy, and we're just supposed to enjoy this progress, whether we know about it or not.

Politics and Celebrity culture should be separate.

I know.

I said the country is healing because the majority is already realizing that we are truly in a political unrest.

We are healing because the corrupt politicians, who are brainwashing the masses for their own gains, are already out in the open for the whole world to see.

We are healing because, despite the lack of punishments (yet), people are finally saying that the wrong-doers should be punished.

We are healing because the people involved in the corruption of our legislation are being investigated, not only by the media, but also by the public.

The first step in healing is knowing, and we have come a long way.

Just this last decade, people have been so brainwashed and so foolish that even the people who we knew as intellectuals joined the disgusting bandwagon of violent politics, in where they believed that good governance should be harsh, because our country as a whole deserves to be disciplined and controlled. Nobody had faulted that logic, and the people who were against this certain type of government have been red-tagged, called pro-criminals, and dubbed as stupid. Filipinos are prideful in nature, like our mothers and fathers who would shout and cry once given all the evidence of their wrong decisions. It's only their individual pride that is keeping this structure together (and also the dark triad psychology, but that is a story for another day), but finally, MAJORITY had been so distraught of the injustice that people had foregone their pride to finally see the truth and fight for a better country.

Majority of the youth who were once apolitical (I admit I was one of them) went out to protest despite the dangers.

Red-tagging is a sign of a violent leadership and is never normal in a healthy government that should be respecting our rights to dissent, and I am glad that we are finally recognizing this.

The politicians that had aggressive keyboard warriors are now losing their fanbase, and the ones that are left are the truly insane and the bot accounts.

Are some of these evil entities still protected by the system? Yes.

Do we still agree that this system is just? No.

Small steps, but it still counts.

It's been a month since I posted the first Chapter of the Capturers.

I haven't shown myself to anyone, I stayed away from my Ao3 account, and I deleted my tiktok. I'm not active here either. All because of the guilt that I have not updated.

I already have the outlines prepared, and according to the three shorts after the first book, a lot of stories and characters will be involved, each of them with their own societal problems to drive their own personal  and romantic stories. Because that's how these stories are supposed to be, and that is the kind of writer I am.

However, since the settings of the story is political, inevitably, the topics will be political. I was not afraid to do that before, but nowadays, I'm just deeply disturbed.

Filipinos, and maybe humanity as a whole, are becoming sinister. Our politics is being driven by the evilest people possible. I have read somewhere that some people support certain conservative politicians not because they are dumb, but because they want a leader that validates their darkness; their narcissism, manipulativeness, and psychopathy. They're not 8080, as people in the internet usually say. They are evil. They don't want a gentle leader who will sound correct while reprimanding them. They want an abrasive leader who will make them feel superior.

This is disturbing because there is something wrong with these dark behaviors being the norm, being the loudest, and being at the top. If you read the news and internet forums, I know you know what I'm talking about. They're so disturbing that I don't even want to give context.

And so I'm here, being devastated every time I see a news report that will happen in my story, afraid. Afraid that the topic is too sensitive to be in fanfiction, and afraid of the truth that reality is just as bad as a cynical author's imagination of a dystopia where the only solution is strategic extra judicial killing.

I also fight with myself many times in the process of writing. As much as I only want it to be fun, I am also aware that stories send a message, and I want to be careful of that message.

However, thank you for checking up on me and giving me encouraging comments. I am grateful for being a part of an appreciative fandom. I know most of you moved on to your different fandoms that are less a reflection of our reality, and with that, I completely understand. I'm giving myself a little break, but I will be back. I just don't know when. But I will be.

I've reading philippine metrical romances (awits & corridos) & became fascinated by how mars is portrayed in these narratives, esp compared to like. imperial roman latin literature

anyway, a design for mars in these romances (for a stage adaption, or perhaps comics)! I mixed together some good old fashioned hollywood epic costume flair, the ksour essef curiass, regional festival costume inspiration + regional textile history, & the sleeve detailing is based on details from saint statues because one of these romances connects mars and venus to st anthony of padua and that's something that'll rattle around in my head for the foreseeable future.

anyway, here's the moment my brain latched onto the topic of mars' portrayal in these narratives (something about mars turning away from a battlefield in horror/disgust in statius' thebaid vs the surprise/delight at the battlefield here. given enough time and coffee, I Can And Will Connect These Dots)

Emilio Aguinaldo - Who started the corrupt system

Apolinario Mabini - Who had the intellect to properly direct an effective system, but not the power to.

Andres Bonifacio - Who created an elaborate independent system, only to die with it.

And,

Jose Rizal - Who died too early after warning the masses of a faulty system that could come out of the revolution, only to reincarnate in a system he warned everyone about.

So, a random outburst of ideas for The Ripper of Roxas Boulevard that i might actually release sooner or later. Basically since the Book 1 having the Revelation where in Mabini's organization, they're literally doing the dirty work.

I have this specific thought in where Mabini had to actually do some killing individually on their targets just like Paterno's part in their operation and correspondences. I have this distinguished idea where Mabini wore a black turtle neck, a black coat, also a black slacks and especially his black gloves to get rid any evidences. Mabini would be so meticulous protecting his identity but at the same time that would only scrape off his morality!

I am still thinking if I'm gonna give him holster for his "dark mode" era. akndms. Similarly to Quezon having that Calibre 35./45. ish in his pockets kekeke.

As for, Aguinaldo I also think for him being very sophisticated when it comes to fully prepared battle gear. I am kinda referencing it to his Military Regalia but imagine Miong wearing a dark red long sleeve polo, grey vest and a double pistol black holster/webbing. Also signifies that the holster/webbings color are usually used by the spanish. While Andres having brown ones, usually used by Katipunan and the Republican.

Adds up the grey pants as well, and the extra holster for his favorite melee. A knife. I'm also having a very extra sophisticated idea for Book 2, knowing that in the recent side stories. Alejandrino had became the highest position in Manila at PNP. I'm so excited because I'm actually doing him a makeover for his operation outfit. Jahdjdnd.

They so good as hell to dress them with sophisticated military outfit. I'm also curious if Evaristo would also appear in Book 2 as Jose Alejandrino's right hand man as always!!

In the last chapter, we see that Pule chooses to wear all-black during missions. It's practical. Straightforward. Functional. Though he is only a director and not an active participator, he makes it a point to match Agueda, the main assassin, as a message that in the murder space, they are all equally sinners.

Emilio wears his fancy suits because he is above practicalities. He is dramatic. He'd rather over-prepare to make sure he does not leave anything in the crime scene than do the simple measures. He also wants to position himself as a visible superior in the eyes of his victims. He is the god. He is the punisher. He is the one that elevates the human to artform. It is also parallel to the historical Emilio Aguinaldo as depicted in his movie "El Presidente", who wears all-white in the battlefield to show power and dramatics.

So yes! You're correct!

There is a man in the mountains of Mt. Makiling, carrying a child in his arms everywhere he goes. He’s gentle, helpful, and friendly, a devoted family man and a humble homemaker. His name is Andoy De Jesus.

Senator Emilio Aguinaldo finds himself in the depths of Mt. Makiling after a campaign mission gone wrong and is saved by a familiar man who does not recognize him.

The thing is, he’s sure he had killed this man seven years ago.
