Sitting on the floor with your back to the couch, you let out a deep and troubled sigh as your fingers grasp at your hair. A slight tug makes your scalp smart, but you find that it’s a lot better to focus on that pain than the thoughts that are racing through your head right now.

What were you going to do? You’d finally managed to stabilise your life, with no student loans anymore and your job finally on the up. It had taken 6 years to finally get to the position of manager in your marketing team, being the ripe age of 30. Not that there was anything wrong with 30.

And you’d felt that it was all coming together, with a great job, a great family, wonderful friends and a boyfriend that you felt could possibly be the one. You’d only been dating Jin for six months, but you’d felt that the whip smart lawyer could be the one you’d finally tie the knot with.

Finally get your parents off your back about marriage and possibly work on providing them with the grandkids they so desperately wanted.

Leaning your head back against the cushions, you stare up at the white ceiling with a dull gaze as you consider that it’s probably for the best you hadn’t gotten too in depth when planning out your future. Because who would have seen this coming?

The door opening lets you know that your roommate has finally come back from his own place of work, and the rustling of bags tells you that he’s likely brought your favourite takeout from the Chinese down the street.

In Park Jimin’s 24 years of existence, he’d already had three life altering moments. The first, had been the day when his high school girlfriend had told him she was pregnant when they were only 17. He remembers the ice that had flooded his veins as the words fell from her lips along with the fear of his parents retribution.

The second, had been the day his daughter had been born and he’d held her in his arms for the first time. He remembers the sheer, overwhelming love he’d felt upon the sight of his tiny baby as she’d squirmed slightly with her face scrunched up and how he’d sworn to himself then and there that he’d do anything for her.

The third had been when he was eighteen, and the day his high school girlfriend had informed him that she was leaving them both because she didn’t want her life to stop for a baby. He’d felt numb with shock before confusion and anger had moved in like a creeping fog.

It had only been when he’d been cradling Eun-Byeol at 2am in the morning that he’d realised what he’d have to give up. He’d been applying to the local colleges for when he graduated high school, intending to stay at home to help with the baby.

His shock had been so great that he hadn’t even told his parents about Sunmi leaving him, and he’d collapsed into a fit of panic at the sudden enormity of what was ahead of him. A road that was filled with trouble and pain, covered in a smog of the unknown that he couldn’t see through.

“Miss Y/N?”

“Huh? Yes?” The receptionist smiled gently at your vacant expression as you were sure you probably looked like you were lost instead of the planning you had been doing for weeks to prepare yourself for this very day.

“We’re ready for you now.” You stood up, smoothing your skirt as much as you could with the thin fabric stubbornly creased just below your hips from sitting down. You had told yourself that you would pay more attention to your posture and the nervous squirming you usually did when… well; when you were nervous as hell. But of course, your own advice was the one you mostly adhered to the least.

“Right this way,” The nice middle aged lady led you towards large wooden double doors. The place was modern, sleek, rustic and most of all – screamed money, all at once. You weren’t sure how many architectural structures could be squashed in to one at the same time and look good as well. But you guessed that money always looked good.

No wonder youdidn’t.

She smiled her gentle smile at you as she opened one of the doors and letting you enter first. You mumble a thanks before glancing towards the back of two heads you could see from where you stood. One blonde, the other black. They sat on a large three-seater sofa while a love couch – which made you snort internally given the circumstances – was placed across from them. Just then, Solhyun – the consultant looking after your case – glanced up from her seat.

“Ah! Y/N come on in, yeah,” She nodded encouragingly as you took small, quiet steps – thanks to your flats – towards the couch that you assumed was going to be where you sat, facing the other two men. Speaking of; they had also stood up with Solhyun as she waited for you to come forward.

“Hello,” You went for a handshake but Solhyun pulled you into a gentle hug.

“How are you?” She asks as her greeting with a bright smile on her face, not waiting for you to respond before she is introducing the most important people – and the ones you’d been nervous as hell to meet.

“Ok, Jin, it’s your turn,” You lazily drawl out, half-heartedly throwing a pretzel at him to catch his attention, “Fuck, marry, or kill: Hani, Hyuna, and Lee Gukjoo.”

Jungkook boos you at once, “That’s way too easy!”

You chortle at his outraged expression, “I don’t care, I like Jin.”

“You made me choose between Bang PD, Manager Sejin, and Kang Hodong!”

The other two maknae line members burst into laughter at the foot of the couch, Jimin turning to bury his face in your lap in amusement. “Still can’t believe you chose to kill Sejin!”

“Hodong is a very illustrious athlete!” The maknae yells at them in response.

You affectionately run your fingers through Jimin’s hair when he’s overcome with giggles again, “Shut up, kid, and let Jin answer!”

The eldest member takes another moment to think his answer through before he answers, “Fuck Hani, obviously.”

The younger members roll their eyes at the stereotypical answer, “Obviously.”

“Marry Gukjoo, kill Hyuna.”

There’s a brief silence in the living room. Then—

“Wait what?!”

Everyone turns to stare at him in shock, “What?!”

Jin simply blinks his innocent doe eyes and takes another sip of his beer, “Gukjoo knows how to cook. She’s definitely wife material.”
