About that band kid orel thing. Im just sure people just see him that way as a joke, i dont think its a hc
Ohhhhhhhh okay! 😂😁
Is this really what some of you think Orel is like???
with how screwed up his choldhood was and how badly Bloberta and Clay were an example to him do you think it’s harder for Orel to handle his emotions properly as an adult? Like it’s sort of uncontrollable sometimes?
Yes. Particularly as he's a teenager and young adult.
Orel would pretty much have genuine anger issues as 13-16, (which Clay definetly passed on to Orel)
In fact this is how I see him at 15 a lot of the time:
But then it would be this pretty awful cycle of him getting angry over fairly minor shit ups, like losing a pen or book, and then feeling very bad for it afterwards. As he gets a little older, I think that anger slowly turns more and more into sadness and so that when he’s an adult (and in therapy), if he loses control of his emotions, it’s more than likely going to be a complete mental break down and perhaps a ptsd episode
one of my biggest gripes with moral orel is how badly it handles racism. this show is so good at acknowledging the harmful aspects of christianity and the people who perpetrate it, but it’s weird how they fumble racism every time it’s brought up.
sure you could just hand wave the figurelli episode and every other instance of racism in the show as dated edgy 2000s adult swim writing, but it becomes jarring when we see a character like reverend putty going through positive character development, but he’s still blatantly racist. a character that we as viewers are supposed to support and take his character arc seriously, still isn’t letting poc into the prom thing? with no implication that he’s gonna change that mindset any time soon? it’s weird and convoluted
You bring up very good points. And i agree that them tackling the racist aspects certainly wasn’t their strength. Although I feel like it’s also important to note that they’re portraying a Christian fundamentalist town in the middle of nowhere In the American South. While the time period is never actually revealed it pays lots of homage to 60s-70s culture as well. So it could be argued that the writing is actually taking into account the attitudes of the time period and location.
Also about revs, while I agree it was distasteful, he’s also meant to be distasteful because while yes he is meant to be getting gradual character development and we would have slowly seen him become better Rod is a terrible person, a micro step in the right direction with his daughter dosent strip him of his many vile qualities lel and considering the location and time period him not changing his mindset anytime soon does sort of make sense
I remember you saying that dino confirmed moral orel took place in modern times (2005 or 2006) somewhere in his facebook, do you have any idea where that post might be?
believe me i have been TRYING TO FIND IT BUT I CAN'T AND PEOPLE KEEP CHANGING THE WIKI AND I WISHED THEY STOPPED
Hey I found it second hand! https://ovisiphorus.tumblr.com/post/116616061765/crimester-idk-why-im-posting-this-right-this
idk why i’m posting this right this second i just abruptly remembered i had this screenshot on my computer. just chalk up another one for yr
Meh, I’d take it with a grain of salt tbh. In fairness he didn’t actually state that the show was set in the 2000’s. Especially since the ‘present’ at the time of his reply would’ve been in 2012. He’s been known for trolling so it’s also likely he meant ‘the show is set in the present of when it’s set’. Anyway, lmao. Just my hunch😁😂
I got manipulated into posting this…
