Children are conceived as a chance for parents to atone for their own mistakes, and live out all their failings through these new beings. When a child fails, a parents is hurt deeply. This is their failure too, and maybe sacrificing their pre-existing life wasn’t worth it. Perhaps all of their life has been a failure, and the child’s shortcomings are only further proof of that.

Hate and Love are intrinsically linked, as one who cares enough to hate demonstrates a concern that may evolve into love. This is the same with beauty and ugliness. That which is so ugly is beautiful in its repulsiveness.
