“… we encapsulate ourselves to avoid death. And life escapes us while we huddle within the defended fortress of character.”
- Ernest Becker, The Denial of Death
“Years had passed since I had felt happiness at all, and I had forgotten what it is like to want to live, to enjoy the day you are in and to long for the next one, to know that you are one of the lucky people for whom life is the living of it.”
- Andrew Solomon, The Noonday Demon
“It is my experience that hard numbers are the ones that lie. The matters that they describe cannot be defined so clearly.”
-Andrew Solomon, The Noonday Demon
“…many authors select statistics to make an attractive ensemble in support of preexisting theories.”
-Andrew Solomon, The Noonday Demon
“But whether we fear death and refuse to face it, or whether we romanticize it, death is trivialized. Both despair and euphoria about death are an evasion. Death is neither depressing nor exciting; it is simply a fact of life.”
-Sogyal Rinpoche, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying
“The many are seen but not known, and the ideas are known but not seen.”
-Socrates, The Republic
“If you were an original instead of a translation...”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Crime and Punishment
“Which led to a second revelation about certain nonprofits, especially young-person-driven start-ups like Public Allies, and many of the bighearted, tirelessly passionate people who work in them: Unlike me, it seemed they could actually afford to be there, their virtue discreetly underwritten by privilege, whether it was that they didn’t have student loans to pay off or perhaps had an inheritance to someday look forward to and thus weren’t worried about saving for the future.”
Michelle Obama, Becoming
“Even if we didn’t know the context, we were instructed to remember that context existed. Everyone on earth, they’d tell us, was carrying around an unseen history, and that alone deserved some tolerance.”

1. It was Ryuji who came up with the design for The Brow Beat logo
Dragon (“Ryu”) = Ryuji’s “ryu” & White (“Haku”) = HAKUEI-san’s “haku” So, the two white dragons basically symbolize Ryuji and HAKUEI-san. As for the story of how it came about, it was while the two of them were in the elevator together (during a time when they were doing a radio show together) when Ryuji suggested the idea of “white dragons” (“hakuryu”) to HAKUEI-san. At first, HAKUEI-san didn’t understand the reason behind the idea, but when Ryuji explained it to him, his response to Ryuji’s explanation was, “He says such cute things!“ BUT HAKUEI-san THIS MAKE YOU CUTE TOO

2. Ryuji’s horn was actually Vivienne Westwood horn tiara
It turns out they are actually HAKUEI-san’s private property And, to be more exact, the horns are actually a Vivienne Westwood horn tiara.
HAKUEI-san bought the tiara because he thought it was cute, but didn’t know where to use it, and then, "I can use it here!”, he said, while pointing at Ryuji’s head. HAKUEI IS ALSO SURPRISINGLY CUTE

3. Ryuji wanted to attach gold dust to The Brow Beat flag
He wanted to attach gold dust to the flag so when he waved it during performance, the gold dust would fall and sprinkle over everyone, making everything sparkle!

"Surely it is an irony of the global era that the stewards of power will take international health experts to task for failing to, in their lingo, 'contain a threat' such as this one."
Paul Farmer, Pathologies of Power
Some of this erasure is a result, certainly, of the distortions introduced by a disciplinary focus. No one discipline could ever hope to capture the complexity, social and biological, of the assaults on health and human rights that I hope to document. But much of the erasure has a far more pernicious origin: hiding this suffering, or denying its real origins, serves the interests of the powerful.
Paul Farmer, Pathologies of Power
Whatever term we use to describe our times, we cannot avoid looking at power and connections if we hope to understand, and thus prevent, human rights abuses. And when we look at and listen to those whose rights are being trampled, we see how political rights are intertwined with social and economic rights, or rather, how the absence of social and economic power empties political rights of their substance.

The forehead poke
That someone had pointed out how Sasuke and Sakura fighting style is becoming more similar, speculating that they have been sparring a lot after the war.
We also know that by trading blows with each other, Sasuke and Naruto had a glimpse of each other’s past, because they could peer into each other’s heart when their fists met.
So it has occurred to me it might not be the case that Sakura has no idea what the forehead poke meant to Sasuke. Even if he might not verbally tell her everything of his past, he still lets her in whenever they spar. At those time, Sakura would slowly understand his clan tragedy, his pain and suffering, his love for Itachi, and how precious the forehead poke is to him, and she would love him even more.
(Sasuke also would learn of Sakura’s past, how she put flowers in his satchel, or waited patiently by his bedside many times, and he would love her even more.)
I’m hooked on this headcanon and nobody can tell me otherwise.
