I've loved Professor Layton ever since I was a kid and I just wanted to create a little sideblog to have fun and hopefully get to talk to some other Professor Layton lovers 😊

For anyone who thinks frequent commenting doesn't matter or isn't noticed, I've updated two stories in the past week and there are a few loyal readers who have not yet commented and on multiple occasions I have thought 1) I hope they're okay and 2) I hope the story is okay. So when the three of them travel around together, all the strangers they talk to assume Luke is Hershel's kid and Emmy is Hershel's wife, right? I mean a lot of people are probably thinking that, right?

I believe this was a minor plot point in Azran Legacy when they go to San Grio, but also this reminds me of Miracle Mask where if you tap on the ticket booth at the amusement park Layton will make a comment about family ticket dicounts and tell the others not to get any ideas.

I just so happened to be playing MM right now and I was right before this area! This is what they said.

Hershel didn't say anything more, though I wish he did. I know he's a gentleman, but surely you can lie just a LITTLE bit for cheaper tickets?? (He got free ones for solving puzzles, but semantics). Luke kinda of IS your child right now. How many months, YEARS have they been traveling around??

Hold on, when does Luke go to school??? Is it implied these games only take place in the summer?? The more I play these games, the more questions I have.

Ah, yet another case of the US localisation being less good than the British English one. In my version (I got my game out to check), he says "Families get 30% off. Yes, yes, I know what you're thinking..."

Which to me makes it sound like they actually do pretend to be a family to get the discount.

Luke is 10 in Last Specter, and gains a year in each of the prequel games (but not the movie), so he's roughly 13 by Curious Village (and then the original trilogy games all occur within about a year). So yeah, given each mystery is only really a week long at most (Azran Legacy might be longer given all the flying around the world, but the original series' mysteries could all take place on a weekend even), It's perfectly feasible he just takes time off school to join Layton or it all coincides with school holidays. Or, since Layton is a professor, perhaps he teaches Luke himself.

I can't recall if there's anything that explicitly says Luke goes to school, and if there isn't then I like to think Layton just tutors him to make it easy to explain why he's always hanging around the professor.

and whenever layton asks a question luke always reaches his hand up first
