Thoughts on Reputation?

If you know me you know I'm not a Taylor Swift "fan". I've liked some of her songs (in moderation) but never cared much about her or the media drama surrounding her. But her new album has intrigued me to the point where I have a theory.

Reputation is Taylor's way of telling the world she only ever intends to be with Joe. The contrast between the singles out so far is striking, and the release of Call it What You Want made me see LWYMMD with new eyes.

At the beginning of that video the gravestone says, "Here lies Taylor Swift's Reputation" What is her reputation? It's that she's a serial dater, can't keep a man etc. So how would someone with that reputation put it to rest? Settle down. Leave all the other guys behind and be genuinely, un-abashedly in love with the guy she feels she's supposed to be with. It seemed like Reputation was going to be her rebellious "edgy" album and it's clearly not given all the singles out so far. It's seeming more and more like it's just about Taylor living her best life and I have so much respect for that.

Even sadder is that this guy didn't get eliminated. The judge's reasoning was that this guy's brisket and gravy was a more realized and complete dish than the other guy's biscuits and gravy.

Why Joana isn't in Ravenclaw (or why she should've pushed the button)

Let me say that I love where Joana ended up as the result of this decision, it might have been the right decision to make. This is not a criticism of the writers. But damn, I was rooting for Joana to push that button. Joana is smart and I was stunned she didn't see that his death was inevitable. Whether she, or Ezequiel, or whoever pushed the button that man was dead. If he was in the possession of Process leaders it was a miracle he wasn't already. With Ezequiel's assurance his death would be painless you could make the argument that pushing the button was morally right. She could've gotten everything if she realized this one thing. Instead she got caught up in her own ideas about morality. it's the same test that Rafael/Tiago already passed in the mystery solving room. I wish she could've passed it too.

Here’s another fun story: My boss decided to slap my work phone number on all the ads we post looking for newspaper carriers. So I receive a bunch of calls from people looking for jobs. Working only part time, I’m not usually there when they call, so they have to leave a message and I take their info to pass on to my boss. Sometimes it can be weeks before my boss calls any of these applicants back, if at all. How the callers respond to not getting a callback varies. Most don’t do anything, but some call again. If the person sounds young, they may leave another message clarifying their qualifications and reaffirming their interest. If the person is old, and I can always hear it in their voice, they respond by getting mad, threatening to cancel their newspaper subscription, and occasionally swearing. The older generation is used to getting a callback, and an immediate one, so they throw a tantrum when they don’t get what they want.

And everyone calls Millennials entitled.

My step father got his job at a state biology lab straight out of college. He's worked there for probably 25 years. Today his summer interns have better resumes and higher degrees than when he got permanent full time job. If that doesn't say something about a generational gap in employment and education I don't know what does.

I met with a client about producing a video for them. We went over the project’s parameters, expected budget requirements, schedule, etc. A few days later, the client sent me some “concerns”: Client: I’m just worried that because I’m inexperienced in these matters, I don’t know what goes into making a good video. Call me ignorant, but I just don’t know what makes a project cost $2000 dollars or what makes it cost $500. You quoted me $2000. Can you do it for $500?

REBLOG TO SAVE BLOGS

As most of you already know, on May 13th Tumblr has decided to lock us all out of the site and make us change our passwords for safety reasons, without as much as letting us know about the overhaul in advance. 

Now while for most this was no more of an issue than the minute lost on changing the password, many of us have stayed locked out. The problem here is that these blogs are tied to defunct e-mail addresses we no longer have access to, therefore changing the password is out of the question and so is logging in for, as it seems right now, ever.

Addressing the issue I have written to tumblr spport and got this reply:

How considerate, we are now supposed to throw away years of work on our blogs (MAIN BLOG AND ALL SIDEBLOGS), thousands of posts, original content, url and its reputation and of course ALL OF OUR FOLLOWERS, simply because Tumblr @staff failed to notify us on the matter.

However, there is still a possible solution. 

As we can still use the Tumblr app, this hideous failure could be fixed by updating the Tumblr app with the option to change the e-mail address on mobile.

I shared this idea with Tumblr support as well but I was met with the answer that, i cite, ‘’the changes aren’t up to our department’’. 

PLEASE REBLOG THIS WITH TAGS LIKE #STAFF AND #TUMBLR STAFF TO SPREAD THE WORD AND REACH THE MAKERS. 

You screwed up big this time fellas, are you seriously letting it slide?

The only response I've gotten is Tumblr telling me they can't give out my account details due to security reasons.

Here's the thing though, I'm not asking them to give me the account information. I have all that. All I'm asking for is the opportunity to log in to my account to change my email/password, or the ability to do so on mobile. If they can kick me out of my account they can let me back in.

WTF Tumblr?!!!?

Like many others the @staff forced a log out of my account with no warning and is making me change my password. The only problem with that is I no longer have access to the email address on the account. The only access I have is through mobile, which won't let me change my email or password!!!! I had to log in to my account on the mobile app it's also connected to my Facebook account (i.e. I CAN PROVE THAT IT IS MINE) but according to Tumblr that is irrelevant. There is a mention of this is on the @staff page. The post is from TODAY! With no way to find out if your account is affected and no mention of when the logout would happen. So far the only response I've gotten from them is a bot telling me it's impossible because they can't verify I'm the owner of the account (see above statement in caps). I'm mad as hell right now and the only thing I want is a chance to log back in and change the email address. That is surely possible.

This is so amazing because the song has a snappy style, an identity connected to the sound that words alone don’t have. A direct replication of the words, while accurate, wouldn’t be sufficient to communicate the meaning; and yet he replicates that meaning perfectly. He does it so well that even a person who doesn’t know ASL (e.g. Me) can recognize it. Which means you don’t have to miss out on any aspect of music even if you can’t hear it, and if that’s not an amazing and magical thing I don’t know what is.

Most people have no idea what they’re talking about when they say they’re against GMO’s. No idea. 

We need to get around to realizing that genetic modification isnt contamination, or carcinogenic chemicals, or sludge, or evil godless mutations. They aren’t horrifying and they’re grown natural just like everything else.

Which is the real reason Monsanto is evil; they cripple thriving farms and economies by making farmers pay licensing fees to grow seeds they’ve already bought.

Also if you buy organic cotton or bamboo products you’ve lost the right to talk about sustainability and the environment.
