I've been loving the hell out of Living the Dream and I've always had one Mii who I absolutely adore. If you've ever seen my account, you know who I'm talking about considering I draw him all the time; Quit!!!!
^ here he is on my main island.
So I decided I wanted to run an experiment: I would make an alt save with 60 of the same Mii. Every single Mii will be a clone of our beloved Quit (seen above) with the exact same personality, voice, face, dating preferences (all Quits can date all 3 gender options), everything. The only difference is that 20 of them are male, 20 are female, and 20 are nonbinary (because I'm curious on if Mii gender impacts how a Mii forms friends).
It was a lengthy process making 60 of the exact same Mii, but finally...
Welcome to Quitland.
My general rule for this save file is that I must interfere as little as possible with the Quits lives. I'll only give them food, new clothing, treasures, or new housing if they directly ask me for it. I can't force any relationships either (barring the tutorial which forces you to do so). I want to see how these 60 clones all grow and adapt, and how they will eventually differentiate themselves.
I had put all 60 Quits in at midnight so right after doing so I decided to head to bed. I then proceeded to spend the chunk of my morning doing quite possibly the stupidest thing ever:
Creating a giant pixelated Quit to put on the ground.
From there I learned about something kind of interesting. Turns out when you create 60 Miis all at once, with all of them having no little quirks, friends, or really anything to define their AI past their basic personality, they become...
...kind of stupid.
Here are some examples of small groups of Quit randomly choosing to follow one "leader" Quit for no reason. They REALLY enjoy doing this. Its not uncommon for small packs of Quit (usually containing 2-6 members) to just stalk another Quit for extended periods of time. I believe they are developing pack-hunting strategies. This scares me.
They also enjoyed talking. A lot. My entire island is just constantly full of random Quit chatter 24/7.
I'll admit though it is very rewarding just seeing all of them standing about, doing weird Quit things. I feel like a proud father of 60 single-celled organisms.
Also I got quite possibly the funniest Tomodachi Life clip I've ever seen:
There ain't a single brain cell between any of them. Honestly it was really fun just watching them frolic about, like an ant farm made entirely up of brainless homunculus.
In terms of actual development between the Quits, some of them became acquaintances and a few even became friends, but the REAL development was between Quit 1 (known as Original Quit) and Quit 3:
Quit 3 started crushing on Original, and just a few minutes after that Quit 3 surprised me by deciding to just up and confess to Original. This was pretty shocking...so far, every other Quit has been fairly reserved in making relationships. While plenty of them became "like-minded" (not surprising considering they all have the same mind), few were brave enough to become friends, let alone lovers. Perhaps Quit 3 is some kind of deviant Quit???
Well lucky for Quit 3, their boldness ended up paying off...and Quitland got its first couple!
I wonder how long it'll last...
Besides that, only one other romantic event happened. Which was Quit 48 developing a crush on Quit 28. (I know it's hard to tell that this Quit is different from the Quit above...but trust me, its a different guy.)
...could this be considered an example of egomania...? I mean they look identical...
And that was about everything interesting that happened on day 1 of my little experiment. I might post more if anyone has any interest in the Quit ant farm. This is a little different from what I usually post so hopefully the people who follow me just for the art don't mind a bit of a change lol. inphernals are beings not entirely dissimilar to humans, but they have a few traits that make them differ. the main trait is that they have weapons called “gears” which they can summon at will. they are also sexless and spawn out of pillars of light. inphernals have horns on their heads which come in a variety of shapes and colors. inphernals do not need to eat and mostly sleep for energy, with food being a luxury. inphernals are a violent species.

there are four factions. there are some subfactions/splits though so “four” in quotes. there is also a middle region called “crossroads” which is not a faction and will be discussed later.

lost temple - a region mainly containing desert and flame. it was subject to the scorch, caused by firebrand (more on him later) around two(?) decades before phighting actually takes place. it is home to many rich inphernals, but has two more relevant dominant groups.
the wranglers - a group of inphernals that have a bit of an “old west” aesthetic to them. they have southern accents and they are in opposition to the other group, the church of the true eye.
the church of the true eye - a cult. they manipulate inphernals into joining, with their main targets beings inphernals who have lost something to the scorch. to join, one must rid themselves of one eye as a show of loyalty. it is run by an inphernal named father overseer.

thieve’s den - an archipelago filled with many carnivorous plants that eat inphernals. inphernals in this faction make their homes in, if i remember correctly, mountains. it is largely based on a combination of asian cultures and home to the darkage clan.
darkage clan - a dominant clan in thieve’s den that harshly trains inphernals to become skilled warriors. inphernals rejected by this clan often end up either living very harsh lives outside of it, fleeing, or dying.

playground - the most violent faction, split into two parts.
splintered skies - a kingdom in the skies ruled by windforce (more on her later.) inphernals spawned in playground are first spawned here, and windforce often casts out those she believes to be unworthy by throwing them off the edge.
craterdust - the area below splintered skies, much more out of order. it has a capital, though it is by no means a rich faction. there are gangs. it’s kinda like the hood of phighting.

blackrock - designated Evil faction. inphernals spawned in blackrock are immediately put to work under the korblox administration. korblox prides itself on innovation, and will stop at nothing to bring about “the future.” a lot of the more interesting stuff about blackrock is in the characters, but we’ll get to that later. also they’re at war with playground

banlands - where all the Evil people go (this is not presented as a good thing.) run by banhammer (more on him later.) spooky, full of cages. and also eyeballs for some reason ig its alive?????????
crossroads - the center of all four factions. relatively more peaceful than the other regions. crossroads has no leader and is the closest you’d get to a human city. it also has layers.

this is sword. lovable dumbass protag type. imagine jake from adventure time and put this guy’s face on him. lesbian. would you believe that he is old enough to drink. said to be a cornball. he is a cornball. socially inept but keeps pulling somehow. naive. i love him. it’s hard not to. under the care of venomshank, very sheltered from the world. probably listens to kevin macleod unironically
this is skateboard. if you frequent my blog, i’m sure you’ve heard of him. we do not use his render here because he looks too white in it. just some guy. also the leader of a gang. yknow how his name is just “skateboard?” he’s literally THE skateboard out of a ton of boards of various kinds. heart of gold. dropped 50,000 feet on his head as a kid by windforce herself, hence his cracked horns. deemed too ugly to live, wants to make a better world for those who fell too.
this is biograft. it is a robot. they are mass-produced by korblox to remove the need for living soldiers. gets too hot sometimes. healer sniper 5000
this is katana. former member of the church of the true eye, now seeks to “cleanse the world of evil.” whatever the fuck that means. comes off as self-righteous but is really just brutish. intimidates some random landlord in crossroads into giving him free housing. pretends to be from thieve’s den. keeps pulling me into subspace ults and gets mad when i try to run.
this is banhammer. comes off as very self-absorbed and incredibly mean. he is the child of windforce, and feels that he needs to live up to her, because windforce saw and raised him as a copy of herself and not as an individual. oh and also he’s a cop BOOOOOOOOO tomato tomato. warden of the banlands, golfs with people’s heads for fun. allergic to the point in capture.
this is rocket and his image is kinda grainy cause for some reason i couldn’t snag it in its highest resolution i’m sorry. anyways he was originally from playground but was taken in by b. zuka. had anger issues. much better about it now but still not perfect. pyromaniac, has blown off two of his limbs and has prosthetic replacements. has some batshit insane reasons every time someone asks about it
this is slingshot. kitties. baker. runs a cafe called thieve’s rest in crossroads. personification of milk and the letter s. former darkage clan member, escaped with his adopted siblings. chronic anxiety and nightmares haver. ragebaiter of the century
this is hyperlaser. his render doesn’t match his model but his idle animation and his old render are basically the same so who cares. burned badly in a fire, now wears a helmet as an aid. the last living mercenary of blackrock, and the greatest. he has a cat named princess and she is all he lives for.
this is shuriken. former darkage clan member, escaped with his siblings. at night, he takes the form of the vigilante known as the silver shadow, however this takes a toll on his sleep schedule. has a deep desire to be recognized in his talents, and a tattoo on his arm in solidarity with his sibling. allergic to the point
this is scythe and her image gave me so much fucking trouble. scythe is a devoted member of the church of the true eye. so devoted that she will kill anyone for the church. scythe also has dual gears, and sometimes goes by rifle. southern accent, lesbians love her, one of the older phighters. former member of the wranglers.
this is medkit. a whimsical design, fitting for the most miserable inphernal in the inpherno. escaped from blackrock after an incident with the now head-scientist, became a member of the church of the true eye and works as a healer. he resents his job as a healer, preferring work as an engineer. he looks like a rich old white british enby but he’s broke as fuck early 30s living in crossroads and showering with a bucket. he is the one who made scythe’s arm prosthetic and who modified her gear. his crystal is also from blackrock.
this is boombox. his image gave me no trouble because he’s just so sweeties. underground music artist. fell with skateboard after sacrificing his place in splintered skies to save him, and is therefore close with him. a team player, wants to be friends with everyone, to the point where people find him annoying. deeply afraid of being disliked. has depression.
this is subspace t. mine. he’s actually just subspace but he likes having a full name even though inphernals don’t really do that. blackrocks’s greatest scientist. inventor of the biografts. also he’s cartoonishly evil and tortures and experiments on people. the other party involved in the incident that drove medkit to leave, and the cause of it. medkit’s intervention caused something called “the rot,” which has taken his right arm and the entire lower-half of his face. also an eye. says shit like “oh golly!” in the game and expects people to take him seriously. would be a misogynist in real life as a hobby. chronic pain haver, gets nutrients from an iv drip. oh and also he emits a gas so toxic by existing that he has to wear a gas mask and keep it in a canister for nefarious purposes.
this is vine staff. she was cursed from her spawn to have an arm made of wood, and cast out of the darkage clan because of this. she survived on her own in the wilderness, fighting off carnivorous plants before escaping thieve’s den with her siblings. she believes that people perceive her as weak, and is not well socialized. learns a majority of pop culture through the internet. i love her as a character but playing as her is like hell on earth.
this is coil. everything about his render sucks so i’m not using it. criminal. stole crystals from blackrock and is on the run from the law. used to train under his mentor, wolf. ironically corny. ragebaiter. slingshot hates his guts. lives with skateboard. playgrounder. actually i think everyone kinda hates him but that’s okay
