Why do you think all Slytherins shouldn't be perceived as evil?

Because strong loyalty to your own and yourself isn’t a bad thing? It isn’t a bad thing to want to be safe either. Just because you pride self-preservation, it doesn’t mean you’re going to make bad choices and not care about others. Just because you are ambitious, it doesn’t mean your ambitions will hurt others or you will steam-roll over others. Just because you are resourceful, it doesn’t mean that your resourcefulness will only benefit yourself. Jo has created it so Slytherin’s traits are inherently “selfish,” but really, the traits themselves aren’t selfish, the characters she wrote as Slytherins are. Jo must of had bad experiences with people who have Slytherin traits, but that doesn’t mean that everyone with those traits are bad. All the houses are selfish in their own ways. Self-preservation, ambition, and resourcefulness should not be looked at as evil traits, because those are also the the traits that can save lives and create mass change in the world. There are bad people in every house. Bad people and good people can have the same traits. Traits themselves aren’t bad, the way the individual decides to use the traits is what makes them good or evil. Choices define us more than our capabilities. Classifying a whole group as evil just because of their natural traits is wrong, especially when those traits should not be perceived as evil in the first place.
