Smol oppinion hear mi out. Oki so personally i dont hate aarmau just mildly dislike it. Don't get me Wrong, different ppl have their own oppinions but still, the team keeps shoving it in our faces. I mean I know the channel is mainly dirrected towards kids but maybe try to chill about it oki? On anothet note, I'm kinda upset that garroth went from a well develoled character in mcd to a punching bag for jokes in ms and also why did laurance, a well developed likeable character dissapear.
I personally don’t watch MS anymore. After season 3 it got boring and predictable; everyone knew that Aarmau would get married. The only thing that I wouldn’t have seen coming is the werewolf stuff, but then again, why was it nessasery? Why did they have to drag Mystreet on when they could’ve just put MCD and DOE back to the main channel, series that already HAD werewolves, and called it a day without all the extra work?
Laurance disappearing is one of the main reasons I stopped watching MCD. Sure, there was a reason, but it felt half-assed and only to get Aaron and Aphmau alone. And it’s almost the same for Garroth; I didn’t like the fact that he forgave Aphmau so easily for saying that she’d give him a chance and then getting pregnant with someone else who was practically an “I-so-mysterious-and-hot-so-the-main-character-has-to-date-me” stereotype.
I'm the old man of the Aphmau fandom
“Back in my day, all we had to ship was Garmau and Laurmau” “Uh huh, sure grandpa”
“Y'all darn kids brought that Aarmau in my house again? I told y'all to keep that crap at least ten miles away from here!”
It's really cool seeing another Anti-aarmau person honestly and one that doesn't witch-hunt and all that.
:)
As an anti-aarmau person myself it's really great to see people respect your ideas and opinions. I also like the fact you don't witch-hunt people
:)
@stylesavvytrash
That type of stuff was pretty rare back when garmau and laurmau were thriving. In fact, the only mentions of Laruamu Or Garmau on TheDragonHat and Sebastian Todd were positive 99.9% of the time back then. it really only started getting bad when Aarmau joined the picture and more kids joined the fandom. I’m not gonna say it didn’t happen at all, but it wasn’t as common as people like to protray.
Also, that drama usually is pointed towards Travis and Katelyn’s VA’s. Not Garroth or Laurance. Not only that, but EVERY Va deals with this type of shit when they have a romantic relationship with someone in a show/movie. There have been much worse accounts of this.
I wanna point out that in the 1st season of PDH Aaron was 18 and Aphmau was 14 or 15...
Yeah, I’ve always found that a little weird as well. It’s really creepy.
My main problem with both Jess & Jason
Alright, let me preface this by saying that some of the things I talk about in this post are VERY old criticism. In fact, I don’t really care about aphmau anymore. I just wanted to get some of this stuff off my mind, since I think that most aarmau shippers don’t understand anti aarmau’s side of the story.
First of all, let's jump all the way back to June of 2016. If you remember, this is the month in which aphmau tweeted this:
If you don’t feel like reading it all, it basically says that Aarmau is the personification of her and Jason’s lifestyle. This is not bad in itself since a lot of professional writers base characters and relationships off themselves. The problem arises when you use that as an excuse for aarmau coming out of nowhere (which I will get more into in another post, maybe).
But what does this have to do with my problems with Jess? Well, think of it this way; If part of staff for a show said this on twitter, they would instantly be fired. Why? Because it outs too much about the future of these series. Everything from this point onwards was obvious; Aaron and Aphmau would ALWAYS be together. This is my main problem with both Jess AND Jason; relationship-wise, they ruined the tension in their series.
Somehow, though, a few people had hope after this tweet. This included most of anti aarmau; we believed Jess would hear us out and change her mind. We weren’t looking for aarmau to stop entirely; we just wanted one series with some variety. Just one, not much to ask for in our opinions. And then... Jason.
Just to give you the backstory, Anti Aarmau used to respect Jason A LOT. This may have been because, in relation to what Jess had done (Such as lying about her personal life not affecting what ship she would make become canon), Jason hadn’t done anything bad. In fact, most of us thought Jason knew about the G+ anti-aarmau group since we had sent the link to him a couple of times.
All of that was thrown out the window In may of 2017 though. In case you ask where my proof of this happening is, the tweets im referencing were deleted a few days after everything happened. I do have a few of the replies though.
Basically, These tweets happened:
This is where it starts. I’d like to point out the fact that this is extremely hypocritical, since this is EXACTLY what they did for Kawaii-Chan/Nana. By Jason’s logic, Nana is a whore.
This is where I got REALLY angry once these tweets first got out. First of all, Did you and Jess have a one night stand? Obviously not, because you’re married. These tweets just disprove Jess’ statement made back in 2016, especially when applied to MCD.
William is in the right here. Also, can Jason show some of this so-called fan harassment? In my 1-2 years of shipping garmau, I’ve never seen Jason or Jess be threatened by a garmau or laurmau shipper in that huge amount of time. Jason simply is focusing on the negative.
Ughh im so fuckin’ tired. I can’t thonk. I’m gonna continue tomorrow.
So you deleted that post. Does that mean that you realized just because you live in a community that doesnt know about that stuff that it doesnt mean that it applies to everybody ESPECIALLY an online community surrounding talking about those issues?
ummm...?I deleted the post because I don’t want politics on this tumblr account.
That’s the only reason I delete any of my posts.
My thoughts on Ultra Nova.
Here we go, a post no one has asked for! Thank you to anti aarmau, who were the people to introduce me to this series in the first place. Just a disclaimer: I'm not gonna talk about the character models. Everybody agrees that they don't look good now, so it'd just be beating a dead horse. Jason tried hard to make them look good and I think that this is the only time I've ever sympathized with him. Let's get onto it!
Surprisingly, I found an Aphmau series I don’t totally hate. I really do like the theme and premise; the whole “bottom 25% gets kicked out” thing brings on an interesting conflict for the characters to overcome, especially Nashemeira. On the topic of the characters, I like most of them. My favorite is EASILY Nashemeira's dad. He tries to be supportive to his daughter even in bad times for the both of them and it makes him really nice and likable. He is overprotective but not annoying overprotective, and I hope we see more of him, honestly.
One thing that REALLY makes me happy, though, is that the main character isn’t a total mary sue. It seems like jess, as a writer, has improved from those classes she took; and I'm definitely proud of her. After all, practice makes perfect.
So overall, I think that I'm gonna continue to watch this series for now. I'll give it a 7/10 average for the two episodes so far.
Friend: wow you really like this ship…
Me: yes I do, I’m all most like the captain of it (joking)
Friend: even if it’s a dead ship…
Me: *jumps on to table* EXUSE YOU! I AM THE CAPTAIN OF THIS SHIP AND I WILL SAIL IT INTO ANY WATERS I DAMN WELL PLEASE!!!!!
Me: Ah, I love this ship.
Other fan: You know it'll never be canon, right?
Me: There's gonna be a cannon aimed at your house if you don't shut up.
Yes.
Writhe in pain.
Be in complete and utter agony.
I ship aarmau, ok? But I agree with most of your points. Aphmau isn't very likeable and the ship came out of nowhere, and it definitely takes up most of the episode!! But if you don't like it then why do you watch it? I'm not saying this because I ship it, it's a genuine question I'm very sorry if I came off as rude
Well, I don’t entirely hate Aphmau’s videos, and there are quite a few elements that I still enjoy to this day. The backgrounds and skins always look very polished and nice, and certain characters still make me smile (I won’t name them, as “The Aphmau Character Trials” will do that for themselves). Those things are enough to keep me watching.
On the topic of the aphmau character trials ratings...
Golf rules apply, less is good.
1-3: Amazing. This usually applies to old characters, since the writing was better back in season 1/2 of mystreet and mcd.
4-6: Room for improvement, good/decent character. This is where most characters land.
7+: Guilty, the character is bad/terrible. Characters in the 7-8 section can be redeemed, but must go through some major change. 9-10 characters are bad to the point of unredeemablity. Aphmau herself is the only character who gets a 9/10. There are a few other characters who get 7-8.
The character trial is a good idea to tell if a character is too much or less to handle. Plus in MCD, she announced that she was pregnant with Aaron's child which was odd because I see them as teacher/student or brother/sister to each other to be honest. Also that the pairing seemed out of nowhere and just squeezed in at the last moment in S2.
Trust me, I agree with the MCD stuff! Since I haven’t been catching up with mcd since that point, I won’t be taking things from there into account. I guess I should’ve mentioned that, oops! I love the first half of season 2 but it kinda just got slow after that point, and I might actually make a rant about the second half of mcd.
Me: I don’t like aarmau
