with voidpetal joining strength and becoming one of Those Known Duos and whatnot it does kind of bum me out how sometimes people interpret their bliss story in like. for lack of a better word. the most lame way possible? idk ive seen this tendency to view their characters in a way that fits them into a typical "high-tier low-tier doomed duo" box that particularly sands off all the edges of nezo's character and it makes me sad. cuz the thing about voidpetal betrayal is that nezo WAS being selfish and jealous and dare i say—when it comes to the void jump—a little vindictive. thats not to say mugm didnt contribute anything (he NEVER actually communicated to nezo nor directly reassured him in face of his insecurities, and the way he indirectly shows his care was fundamentally incompatible with nezo because he saw it as patronizing, which only made things worse), but like. in nezo's case specifically, watering him down just feels like it loses sight of the impact of the betrayal event and his emotions afterward. that because he idolizes mugm and thinks hes this immortal god, he felt powerful hurting him and hating him, only to realize that the feeling was temporary and he finds no satisfaction doing what everyone else is doing. the dragon egg specifically as a symbol of nezo's respect for mugm also loses a lot of tooth without nezo's impulsive cruelty. idk.
and on mugm's end, i think part of the big vp tragedy is that mugm eventually manages to completely sever the way he felt for nezo in the past from the way he feels for nezo in the present. present-day nezo may as well be a non-entity to him, brotherhood nezo is basically a different person, a corpse. all of his care is focused in a time period he knows is dead. and though he cherishes it, it's tainted by the belief that he was just a weapon to them, that none of his care and dedication was reciprocated or desired. (for now!!!—) theres no resolution for either of them except this wondering of why it even happened and thats important i think. IDK. MAKE VOIDPETAL MESSY AGAIN
