Between Jenny Nicholson and AnyAustin, I don’t think we need any other YouTubers that do deep dives/expound upon otherwise unremarkable things in media. Nobody else is even half as good as them. Nobody else that does what they do has the same charisma, articulation, insight, or frankly, ability to speak. More specifically, there is a pandemic of video game essayists that are the most marble mouthed British men you’ve ever heard, and the scripts are always so bad with the same cadence, beats, flow, etc among all of them. This is where I wish I had that aforementioned articulation, because it’s such a distinctly “this is what a hook and/or transition sounds like” manner of pretension that I can’t describe. It always sounds like, “Mario Odyssey is a rather happy game. From your cartoon cap companion, to playing dress up with Mario, the game has no shortage of good times. But what if I told you there was another side to this game? Another… darker side, that only gets more and more terrifying the deeper you dive into it.”

Now imagine that was read by John Oliver, waking up mid root canal
