of all the people to find in this bullshit world, shane walsh was not one of them she expected to ever see again. especially with how the last little “meeting” at home went. sure, shane was a great person that seemed to know how to handle himself, it just didn’t seem like finding him again was extremely unlikely.

The world had come to an end, and even then, there was no shortage of surprises. This run wasn’t supposed to be anything special – just a quick run through town, searching for supplies. But what he got was something totally unexpected. His dark eyes landed on a familiar face. “Sloane?” he spoke up, lowering his gun to its holster as he slowly made his approach, “holy shit — I didn’t think I’d see you again.” Shane knew about some of the things that Sloane had been through in her life, and it was hell – it seemed that the apocalypse was treating her well enough. She was alive, after all. “I, uh … I’m with a group. What about you? Are you alone out here?” It was more of a question of ‘is your dad still around?’ than anything else.

those burnt chestnut hues of hers lingered on the one familiar thing that sloane knew &&. remembered from the old world. &&. for some unknown reason, she found that to be funny. the humor is hidden beneath a layer of filth &&. a half of a grimace. maybe it was the concept of thinking that only a few years had passed &&. she was thinking it the old world just by that thought alone.

out of everyone left, shane was the only one that actually knew the hell she had been put through in that ring of hell. the bruises, the bloody noses, busted lips, everything that her father did to her. even if he couldn’t do anything about it. ❝ uhm... yeah. i-i am. ❞ rhys was the last to go. ❝ for a while i made it with a few other school kids. grace, trace, rhys, cary, &&. harrison. they uh... they didn’t make it. ❞ grace shot, trace taking his life shortly after, harrison sacrificing himself for all of them after trace’s suicide, &&. cary doing the same to keep the infected off. rhys was the only one that almost made it to the “safe” zone. they fell short by a day. as soon as they made it, it was gone.

❝ i didn’t think anyone else made it out of cortege alive. ❞ her own sister, who she thought abandoned her, didn’t even make it out alive.
