The tires catch the puddled rain in the parking lot. Everything beyond the window is muddled gray and green, and when you come home, you have to dig three blankets deep to find me. You wouldn’t believe it’s July. I’ve been getting by on bruised produce and thrifted records, mango juice and true crime reruns. After work, I go wandering and daydream my way home. I’ve been getting by, but I feel your smile when you kiss me; how you wait for me to find my way back.
