Meet Sharzad: thoroughly confused former Genshin player, current resident of Sumeru City, and user of video game powers called the System that keep making her lose the 50/50 on weapons she desperately needs (and wants).

Aware of an extremely grim possible future of Teyvat, one she saw with her own eyes in a video game that’s one of the few details she can remember from her past life, Sharzad attempts to train to fight monsters and study at the Sumeru Akademiya in the hopes of saving the world; however, Sumeru isn’t peaceful before the Archon Quests begin, and she’ll need more than just intelligence and combat skills to win the game the gods who reincarnated her dragged her into.

It's unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but what kind of Vision would Sharzad want vs which she'd get.

Ooooooh, that's an interesting one

I think (isekai or no) she'd have wanted a Hydro Vision, since water is a medium much better suited to creativity in battle or in daily life. It's also very useful in archaeological excavations/expeditions. And as a bonus, Hydro works well with her fathers' Visions

However, based on her determination, passion, and ambition, I think she'd have ended up with a Pyro Vision. Would she have hated it at first? Probably. But I think she'd realize eventually that Pyro comes with the ability to throw fireballs at people and then proceed to spend all of her free time trying to come up with increasingly absurd ways to chuck fire at people

OBVIOUSLY TAKE YOUR TIME OF COURSE but when do you think the whirling of leaves and petals rewrite is gonna be posted ? also are you going to just edit the current fic thats up or post a different one

Sometime next week probably! I just got to chapter 19 2 days ago and once I’m done with this week’s chapter and my moon exploration, I just need to do those last 5 chapters (including a few longer scenes I’ve been wanting to add) and make sure the Mondstadt and Liyue arcs are up to date and don’t contradict anything

As for the post itself, I think I’m going to rerelease it in a new fic, but I still have to decide whether it’s just going to be posted all at once or one chapter per day. Part of the problem with the one chapter a day thing though is I’m leaving overseas for a month long archaeological excavation in 2 and a half weeks and I don’t want to risk accidentally deleting chapters or anything 😅

Rest assured, it’ll be up soon, but what the upload schedule will be is still up in the air (I’ll probably ask everyone in tomorrow’s chapter and see what the vibes are)

Sooooo I did the new world quest in Genshin (spoilers in the tags)

First off, SO many insane things happened what the hell

But ALSO, they were vague enough about some details that it doesn't overthrow a lot of my lore, PLUS the lore in question was minimal/not too much of a big deal to change, so I'm not even mad about it

Depends if I’d have to draw my own work, I think. I’m not familiar with art fight beyond having heard of it in passing so you’ll have to forgive my ignorance ehe

Drawing people is one of the art things I’m terrible at (I can do backgrounds fine though for some reason lol) and I don’t think I’m comfortable enough with the idea of putting up any drawings online for now

However, if I wouldn’t have to draw anything then I’d be more than happy to do it!

It’s still amazing to me that people love my fic itself, let alone love Sharzad enough to draw her! And I’d 100% link/repost it here if possible! (I also definitely have to link all the fanart people have made to the fic itself at some point!)

I saw that your currently most recent Author's Note said that you should be back from your vacation today, so I was just wondering how that went and maybe what you did n stuff.

I was also curious if you had a general estimate on if you think you might be able to post the next chapter soon or if you have to work on it more. No pressure, I'm just curious about upcoming updates :)

Yep, came back last night (long flight from Budapest T-T)

We did a river cruise on the Danube so it was a lot of historical/cultural activities starting in Germany and ending in Hungary, although my favourites were by far a lesson on the Viennese waltz and a hike to a medieval ruined castle in Visegrád which included the tower where Vlad the Impaler (the real life Dracula) was imprisoned! It was my first time in the more eastern parts of Europe and it was incredibly interesting, if a bit depressing at times

As for the next chapter, it's entirely unwritten because our cruise's schedule was busy from start to finish (I'm talking waking up at 7:00 and being busy for almost every hour of the day until 22:00), so it won't be up until next Saturday as usual, and since I have an annotated bibliography/essay proposal for a field school I'm doing in just over a month, I don't know exactly when the edited Whirling of Leaves of Petals will be up since the proposal is unfortunately a higher priority for me

about the fic, my friend was asking where is sharzad originally from? like where on earth?

She was from Vancouver, Canada!

Since I envisioned her as having almost zero specific knowledge of her past (so, she could remember Earth itself or Genshin/other pieces of media, but nothing about her life, family, etc), I didn't flesh out a lot about her identity pre-Teyvat, but what there was included that her name was Iris Leung, she had an older sister, and she'd been studying history and political science in order to go to law school.

I'm sooooo curious how you're gonna tackle the collei and goddess of flowers fragment part

All I can say is that it’s good news that it’s entirely within Sharzad’s character to keep that information a secret because Collei’s not in active danger from the fragment, so the previous plot isn’t changing (regarding that) besides an extra paragraph or two where Sharzad thinks about that info.

As for the future . . . just picture my pfp laughing maniacally hehehehehe
