Lacking Cafeteria for Lunch: Concerning Problems for Students
Mahidol University’s students complain that there are not enough cafeterias or eating places available for the personnel on the Campus.
Sunita Sangkate, a second-year student from the Faculty of Liberal Arts, commented on the underlying issue of how students don’t have many eating places for lunch near the facility.
With the absence of food stands within the facility since Covid-19, students have to travel considerably around the Campus to grab a bite for lunch.
Unfortunately, the far-reaching consequences of doing so make them fight against personnel from other faculties that already crowded the cafeterias.
Facing no other option, the students either have to wait for the crowd to disperse or leave to find another place to eat.
“This problem might make us late for class as the afternoon break only lasts 1 hour,” she added.
The main cause of the problem is the university closure and online studies amid Covid-19 that shut down most of the food stands and cafeterias on the Salaya campus.
Even though the food vendors were starting to reopen in the new semester of 2022, the numbers of vendors in each facility were not enough for students during the lunch break.
To remedy this problem, students suggest that the University have more food vendors in the cafeteria and add more areas to sell food, such as Sirividhaya Building.
“By doing so, they can distribute the lunch area for the students and prevent them from being crowded in one place, allowing students to access food more conveniently,” Sunita explained
