This is Lark the Papillon! She’s VERY fast, adores agility, and competed in 2019, 2021, and 2022, and won the latter two! At this particular dog show (Westminster), I believe it’s been 10/10 years of papillons winning the 8" class, because they’re fast, smart, and LOVE agility work.

Papillons are ranked 8th in canine intelligence, meaning they usually take 5 repetitions of a command/trick to pick it up – pretty good for dogs bred to be ladies’ lapdogs since the 15th century. (Fun side-fact, they were known as “squirrel spaniels” at times, not (only) because they love to chase squirrels, but because their tails curve over their backs and are SO FLUFFY, like a squirrel’s).

Doing agility with your papillon (or really, any dog) can be so much fun and really helps you bond, even if you’re not good at it. That’s not the point – the point is figuring something out together, and practising handling skills.
