One of my favorite metaphors on Lover is “I ask the traffic lights if it'll be alright. They say, "I don't know". Because when you’re in the midst of getting over someone or getting through something, everything feels blurry and questionable. There’s no clarity, and it feels like the turnout can be good, bad or something in between. Not even the traffic lights know. But you’ll be okay. Because every red light eventually turns green.

30 things i learned about shawn after 30 q&a’s:

i feel like i have learned a lot about shawn in the past few months of touring so im here to share those things with you all!!

1) he will & does give compliments out like they’re candy 

2) he wholeheartedly believes it is okay & it is good to cry & to let yourself feel - in fact, he encourages it 

3) he likes his hair played with 

4) don’t forget to add ‘the alchemist’ by paulo coelho to your summer reading list - our boy is a reader now 

5) he wants to eat a cricket?? for reasons not even he understands 

6) 2 words dry. humour. he is a COMEDIAN with an attitude 

7) he is really excited to go to argentina, he mentions it at least once a day - as he should

8) he is very easily distracted & sometimes misses the point of things kinda like a squirrel but we love him for it 

9) he thinks it is really important that if you love someone, you tell them…the second you find out. don’t be scared. 

10) he likes pineapple on pizza so do with that what you will 

11) he gets super nerdy when he talks about guitars but it is the cutest thing on this planet sooo make him talk about guitars!! 

12) suddenly he thinks he is stan twitter so “taste” & “periodt” are now part of his daily vocabulary 

13) he has a lot of really quality stories that he is holding back - exhibit a) the airport story where the girl that was talking to him didnt realize who he was, cracks me up everytime

14) his hate for tomatoes bring him to the point of growling - weird but i support, tomatoes are nasty

15) mocking fans is his favourite sport

16) he needs his gps while driving, even at home, because he doesnt have a clue where he is going or what he is doing  98% of the time

17) he falls a lot more than we think & he is super dramatic about it - in birimingham he hit his knee & thought he was dying & i quote, “i hit my knee so hard earlier i thought i was dying. i was like ‘there’s a show tonight, that’s not gonna happen..this knee is done! i can’t even walk’ but guess who was fine & did the show

18) sometimes he gets a little confused when it comes to interacting with people & whether theyre saying something to him because they mean it & are honest or saying something to him because he is shawn mendes 

19) he is really starting to learn that you cannot please everybody so you just have to make sure you are making yourself happy & thats what counts 

20) a lesson he would teach his future kids? “i would say, no matter how smart you are no matter how smart you think you are, no matter all the things that you know, you never know what it feels like to be somebody else until youre in their shoes” 

21) he is really loves to make fun of brian & loves to laugh at brian hurting himself 

22) he is really really good at picking up languages he has never spoken before. he can repeat a sentence back to someone in a different language almost perfectly the first time - pronunciation & all, linguistic scholar id you ask me

23) he believes in fate, he believes in second chances, & he maybe even soulmates

24) shawn trying to explain particular taste & making out in a “sexy way”, hand motions & all is rather entertaining & if he could maybe provide us with a youtube tutorial

25) he is such a leo it hurts 

26) he recognizes people by smell & is sure to point it out when someone smells good in a m&g during the q&a - moral of the story, always smell your best

27) he has “the tightest hamstrings in the world” but is super proud of himself for being able to sit cross legged now

28) he likes tequila, tea, & taking hikes (to keep his skin clear ofc) 

29) shawn is his name & vintage shirts are his game 

30) this kid eats, sleeps, & breathes meditation
