Okay but you know how, in the drama, Nie Huaisang drops unconscious at the Wen indoctrination camp? We can easily imply that at that point in his life NHS has found out that passing out can get him out of unpleasant situations so, what if he “passed out”, was put away somewhere in his room at the Wen camp and just said ‘fuck this’ and left. Like he was not at the cave scape and I doubt they came back for him lmao.

I just think it would be so hilarious if he was like “nah, dude I’m done”, sneaked out and two days later he arrived at the Unclean Realm like: “Brother, it was truly awful! They made me stand in the sun for an hour!” And Mingjue was like “HUAISANG DO YOU WANT TO START A WAR OR SOMETHING?! GO BACK THERE” And Nie Huaisang only shrugs and goes “I’m sure at this point WWX already started it so meh”

Alternatively he just stays in Qinghe until he hears everyone escaped and then goes back to the Unclean Real.

OR, no one goes back for him, he stays at the Wen Indoctrination camp, possibly even befriending Wen Ning, until the Sect leaders and their kids meet up at the Unclean Realm or something and everyone is there and Mingjue goes “Wait, if all of you are here, where the hell is Huaisang?” And everyone goes “oh shit, we forgot Huaisang” Mingjue: WHAT DO YOU FUCKING MEAN YOU FORGOT HUAISANG???!!!!!
