Watch: John Oliver explains how awful family leave is in the U.S. — and yes, it gets worse from here
“This strong momma planned a beautiful water birth in our birth center but early in pregnancy she noticed a suspicious breast lump. After 2 separate evaluations by a radiologist saying it was “probably benign”, our CNM didn’t feel comfortable with the diagnosis of “probably benign” and decided to send her for a third opinion. The lumps were biopsied and mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer around 20 weeks pregnant. She had a left breast mastectomy and immediately started chemo while pregnant with her miracle baby. At 36 weeks, she was induced and birthed a perfectly healthy baby BOY. After having many of her birth choices and preferences taken from her, she really wanted to breastfeed this baby if only for a short time. After he was born he latched to her right breast all on his own and the room erupted in emotion.”

🌿I am a bit nervous to post this, due to the nature of society to sexualize the most un-sexual, innocent and beautiful exchange between a mother and child. But I realize that anxiety is exactly why this needs to be posted! Reminiscing on this blissful day at Cougar hot springs last summer. 🔸🔸🔸 This is my baby receiving love and nurturing and nutrition in the most pure way I can imagine it. #normalizebreastfeeding

So much truthness!
All of the things stated at the head of the photos are the natural ways of parenting. There was a time when bottles, cribs, and strollers did not exist.
So much shaming. Why don’t you all just accept that not all parents parent the same. Some children actually prefer to have their own space in a crib rather than co sleep, I know right? Crazy. Some women can’t produce breast milk.. whaat? You mean that some women physically can not produce nourishment for their child on their own!? Lets just make these women feel worse than they already do! Personally for me, I don’t agree with crying it out.. but some people do. Some people think children need to learn how to self soothe. And strollers? .. this one doesn’t even make sense to me. What exactly is wrong with using a stroller? Some children are squirmy & don’t enjoy baby wearing after a certain age. So next time you think you are all high and mighty and superior to the parents who do choose some of these methods or all of them for that matter. Just know that you are being a judgmental ass hole & your shit actually does stink. Glass houses people, glass houses.
I personally don’t think that there is anything wrong with either one. Though people who do breastfeeding and baby wear get talked down on just as much if not more than people who use formula or strollers. I don’t see the big deal. If the baby is safe and thriving then truly, what is the problem? Why can’t everyone respect each other’s parenting styles?
I think the point of the post wasn’t to shame a certain style, but to show those who thing “natural parenting” is weird that hey, this shit has been around longer than all of the artificial stuff.
When formula came out, those who breastfed were deemed poor because formula was the “new big thing!” Now people scream SIDS when a parent even thinks about co sleeping or bed sharing, when it used to be a very worldwide and known practice.
This isn’t shaming anyone. It’s basically telling the bigots who make fun of those who do all of the above to shut the fuck up, because 150 years ago they wouldn’t have had a choice than to do the above.
