I really like that Holmes fans on here seem to have collectively decided that we're in a post-Nigel-Bruce-hate era?

For a long time his Watson would always get ragged on for being buffonish and air-headed, and seen as a blight on portrayals of the character ever since, a hurdle to be overcome...

...but perhaps enough time has passed and Watson the character isn't in the shadow of that particular portrayal anymore, and so he's been gathering a new appreciation? I keep running into people who are quite fond of him. Yes he can be pretty stupid. But Holmes adores him, and is pleased to have him around, so it's very easy to decide as a viewer to like him too.

#Holmes is just so happy to simply have his plush Watson #I love this version so much

Finally read E. W. Hornung's Raffles books. I kept hearing about it for ages, of course, but always thought it's just something between Holmes and Poirot, never expected it would be so -

"It was Raffles I loved. It was not the dark life we led together, still less its base rewards; it was the man himself, his gayety, his humor, his dazzling audacity, his incomparable courage and resource. "

Bunny is so gone. Also, the fact that it's written by Doyle's brother-in-law somehow makes it even better.
