Hello, time for a pinned post!

Apel - they/them - 30s - Sweden

2d/3d artist, roleplayer, worldbuilder. Tired introvert, but happy to answer questions. I have a cat named August.

Currently working in the video game industry as a 3d character/creature artist.

In my free time I'm the admin for Anathema RPG, a freeform fantasy writing/art roleplaying game for ungulate characters (and their human versions!)

Hey that silver pendant you made is so rad! Would you have the time/energy to tell us all a bit abt how it went from 3d to a full silver model?

Sure thing! As mentioned, I started out by making a 3d model of it. I used the program Zbrush because that's what I'm most used to.

A little chunkier than a realistic gauntlet, and with bigger details so they'd show up when it's tiny. Then I asked my brother to 3d print it for me, which he very kindly did:

Then I sand cast it in silver, which I am not really qualified to explain but involves pushing the 3d print into sand to make a hollow space for the silver to go in.

(The left picture is another cast I did which isn't related to the gauntlet at all but shows what the sand looks like). After casting it, I cleaned it up with lots of sawing and filing and sanding, added the little hanger, and did oxidization + polish :)

Small addition to my firespitting flying knight, Halrich; gave him a visor to protect his eyes from his own fire, and also for the living weapon and falconry vibe, which fits the character thematically.

Redraw & slight redesign of my character Halrich : ) fire spitting winged knight. It was fun (and hard) to try and design an armor that looks like it could work with the wings. 'Looks like' doing a lot of heavy lifting lol.

It is so so satisfying to take beloved OCs and turn them into 3d. Suddenly they're real! I can look at them from all angles! Wild. Done in Zbrush, rendered in Marmoset.
