They also use it as a threat. Behave or we’ll tell Weiss what happened to his mother, and he’ll hate you. He doesn’t believe them, doesnt believe that Weiss would hate him, but the threat has hung over him for years and he somewhat internalised it. He hasn’t been brave enough to tell Weiss himself.

Because of all of this, he doesn’t consider her his mother - only Weiss’s mother.

//Chadley thoughts -

He knows Deepgrounds, he knows Weiss. This isn’t super surprising given he’s a creation of Hojo and works somewhere between Hojo and Scarlet. Him being aware of their little pet project isn’t far fetched. But him being aware of Weiss is interesting bc not even lower Tsviets get to meet him. Does Chadley know them as a scientist? Does he know them as another creation of ShinRa?

It’d be fair to assume that he’s fairly.... replaceable? I have to think that his AI has a backup so if his body is messed up he can be rebuilt. So less risk in letting him interact with the volatile bastards if he ever does in person. I also wonder if him not being human would make him immune to Nero. 

The most interesting part - Chadley knows. Chadley knows Deepgrounds exists. Chadley knows something that some of the directors and Rufus dont know - something that took four years post meteor to be revealed. Is he going to be able to tell people? Will Dirge be circumvented just because theyll actually be aware, and maybe try to help these trapped Tsviets???

Excitement barely had him stand still, so that he showed off the toy in his grasp with a puffed chest. “It’s a reward for doing my assignments.“ The boy boasted, allowing his brother to see it from close-up. Such a innocuous chat was only allowed when backed with sinister motifs by the labcoats, getting the unstable younger sibling to comply and do better stood in foreground to them.

But not for Weiss, whether he was used as tool or not his emotions were always genuine. And this was the one person he didn’t hide them from, sharing in full the wonders that sparkles in his eyes.  “It’s called a mecha. They’re big machines piloted by heroes and they’re reallyyyyy strong. I overheard the scientists outside saying they’re building mechas soldiers pilot. Maybe we’ll get to do that! Imagine it!” TV shows had always made them out to be so grand.

Nero leant in, eyes wide as he studied Weiss’s toy. It looked special and he put his hands behind his back so hopefully he wouldn’t ruin it by accident. 

“You don’t need anything to be really strong.” He looked back up at Weiss with a smile. “But it’d be cool.” Something like that would suit his brother, something as strong and special as he was. He doubted he’d be allowed to, but maybe one of them could get to do something like that.
