I am the vampire Madeleine Eparvier. And my immortal companion is Claudia. My coven is Claudia.
Of course, Daddy and Uncle have problems, plenty of them, but they figure them out quick most times. And when they can't, I can always get in between and make it right.

fuck. i know everyone talks about the orpheus-and-eurydice of it but iâm SO fucked up about the orpheus-and-eurydice of griddlehark
i really wanna talk about this bc.
right before she dies, gideon doesn't look back. (there's the implication that had she looked back, she would have been unsuccessful. either looking at harrow would have made her unable to go through with it OR it would would have given harrow time to stop gideon) in this, she's a successful orpheus. she prevents eurydice's death. eurydice can live because orpheus did NOT look back, hut this time it comes at the expense of orpheus instead of eurydice.
like, imagine you are eurydice. and you are dead (you should have died long ago, should have never been born) and you think orpheus has come to die with you and even though you want to save her, maybe you're a little relieved, a little happy knowing that you will die together. and then, suddenly, you are alive, and orpheus is not, and that's not how its supposed to be at all.
gideon, not looking back so she can die.
harrow, not looking back so gideon can't.
Orpheus, asking Charon to claw out his eyes and carefully break his neck so that he might never turn around to see Eurydice. An act of profound love, obviously. Except Eurydice identifies the key motive as a contempt for her so profound that Orpheus has taken extreme measures to ensure that he need never look at her loathsome form again.
